Quarter-life crisis but make it ✨fashion✨
Social media mage by day, and nerd of many fandoms by night, I’m a lady of many interests. From fighting for a more inclusive Jane Austen community, to ignoring my TBR pile, I’m always ready for my next nerdy project. On weekends I can be found lightsaber fighting or slowly learning to use my new rapier.
What you'll find on this channel: my DIYs, Regency fun and maybe some lightsaber/sword practices.
More about me: I work professionally in social media, mostly in brand marketing and around audience engagement. I love talking about the weird and wonderful world of social media, so if you need my assistance for your brand, or are just looking for a mentor to help you figure out your career trajectory, feel free to reach out.

Hehe, contrast thread is great if you can actually stitch in a straight line... but I'm going to be giving it a try (coincidentally with purple colourchangey thread I've just ordered) on some upcoming project somewhere. The machine I currently argue with the least is my 1914 hand crank machine which doesn't backstitch but I'm experimenting with lifting hte needle and presser foot and physically moving the fabric back three stitches versus pulling one thread through to the other side and tying it off like Vincent Briggs does... I've also pretty much only ever used black thread in that machine (aside from one venture into teal for a gift), I try to avoid topstitching because I am really bad at sewing straight lines with machines... Oh gods, 80s being vintage... gaaahhh. Totally interested in a raglan sleeve tutorial, I have tried to self-pattern them a couple times and failed with them pinchy in the armpits, the frist one I corrected by dropping the entire thing by adding 2" around the neckline and the second time I screwed it up I fixed it with an armpit gusset. I'm also apparently bad at facings, I know and use all the tricks and they're still a bit lumpy a lot of the time. I dont' often press my seams open like that, mostly because I tent to hand-fell my seams. I'm going to be acquiring a serger soon so we'll see if I wind up trying that once I'm familiar with serging my edges so I don't have to do onther finishes. But I do find that felling seams makes it a little stronger... My most recent fabric order (still not sent yet) includes the purple thread, some underwires, some elastic for undies or swimsuits, some magenta plaid flannel, and one I think you'll appreciate for a contrast fabric, purple bunny print flannel! Contrast is FUN! -Chevette Girl from Discord
I hate to nitpick but the image you showed at 4:45 is actually needle lace and not bobbin lace, which is a very different process of lacemaking but just as cool nonetheless :)
@alexandrapossum71 you don’t hate to do it if you do it 🤗 thank you, but please rethink how you phrase your comments to be more accurate in future. For example, you should say “I LOVE to be pedantic, so here’s a correction that misses the point of the video”
After reading Northanger Abbey I read the seven Horrid Novels, which I found to be remarkably similar to the each other and, consequently, got boring by the time I finished them all.
Congratulations on surviving your first week! I’m sure you have got your finals in the bag! Remember to breathe!
Wow sounds like you’re crazy busy!
Wishing you the best ! Your hair looks gorgeous 😍 Wish I was near you & could check it out ! Get some rest, if you can !
Kick ass.
In keene nh 2024😊
Thank you!
You're welcome!
Your videos are ass
I mean thank you for keeping such a beautiful intricate craft alive! This is so important for those who can appreciate it. ❤
Ok I just needed to stop this video and tell you how freaking cool you are!!!!

Heyy are the reeds boning😢 or?
Congratulations 🎊 🎉 🍾 !!!
You've been doing it, you're really doing it!!! Yay, you! 🎉 Amazing and congrats!
Is beeswax better than soap?
Cliffhanger! 😢😂
yes.... lol
Thrift stores have been good for me, too. Auxiliary stores, those attached to a senior center (their sewing or quilting groups often donate straight to the store), or ones with an estate sale division have been good. I also hit up the annual sewing and quilting show where I can discover which small shops supply what and which have online sales. Local quilt guilds usually have a sale section at their quilt shows, for members to destash and earn a little money for the guild. It’s a great way to find buttons and notions especially.
😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮
How do you get the pattern into the fabric? I’m new to embroidery and so far have only bought kits, but after buying a $140 Jacobean crewelwork kit I’m realizing I need to just be using patterns lol
super cute
Currently trying to make a doll sized version of this dress. It’s proving a challenge 😅
Someone should have told you sooner 😔
But now I know!
@@bookhoarding that's good news 😅
I do sew with vintage patterns 🙌 & I just listed some 60’s, 70’s & 80’s bundle lots over on EBay and Poshmark. They are smaller sized lots though-let me know if you need a bigger size Bianca and I will mail you some buddy 💕
Love it! The doll fabric and ombre contrast are so fun! I enjoy watching people like SewRena on here making vintage patterns and such, but I'm still a beginner, and haven't sewed any garments yet. Just watched a version of The Sound of Music last night, and now want to make a pinafore apron, which I'm (maybe falsely) telling myself would be a good beginner project.
@@ReinaMWilliams 1. yes! I love SewRena. 2. I do think a pinafore would be a nice starter project. I think it comes down to finding a good pattern, but I bet you could do it.
What a great idea! It looks great on you even with haunted doll fabric lol. I like the contrast too
@@robintheparttimesewer6798 thank you! Yeah, I really like how the contrast worked out.
Exciting News! 🎊 Congrats on your New Dream Job
I am confused about bia's tape step
this appeared in my shorts feed and it warmed my heart ^^ there's something so nice about seeing tiny snippets of someone's life out there in the world
Congratulations!!
Congrats!! (ALWAYS suck up to the crafties!)
Velvet!! I’m shuttering for you!! Congratulations on doing the thing and kicking ass!!!
Ohh no velvet helll! 🤯 Good job!
Congrats on the new job!!!
The other thing about thread is that when a seam is INSIDE the garment, if the fabric is decently opaque the thread color of the thread does not matter. So if you know you're going to have some topstitching that you really want to be the perfect matching thread, and you don't have much of the perfect matching color ... do the inside construction seams with thread left over from another project and save the perfect matching color for the topstitching.
This is genius. Caddies are awesome
Side quest!! I love it. I’ll still get distracted but It’s worth a try lol
Congratulations! I’m sure it will great!
I hope it will be!
Вы не ищите легких путей❤🙏
Thanks!(?)
I’d like to put it here in case anyone’s curious, here’s my list of the craft thrift stores in Texas (that I’m aware of): Austin Creative Reuse (Austin… duh) Spare Parts Center for Creative Reuse (San Antonio) Thistle Creative Reuse (Denton) Texas Art Asylum (Houston) I’ve only been to the Austin and Houston ones but I’m so in love with craft thrift stores and wanted to spread the word!
Thank you so much for sharing!
Contrasting thread is fabulous. It can replace different types of trim on garments, adding a decorative touch without extra work.
That's a great tip! Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for sharing your tips! Thrift stores are my go-to. Different ones put crafty and sewing stuff in different areas, so I usually look around the whole store. Library book sales can be a good place for books on crafting or inspiration. Hoping to get to Legacy soon--it would be a fun day trip for us: I need some creative inspo and items to reuse/repurpose an old baby quilt top my paternal grandma made when I was a baby, and it would hopefully inspire my daughter to restart a hobby.
Libraries are for sure a great resource! That’s a great tip. I hope you enjoy The Legacy. Every day it can have vastly different stock.
Thank you for telling me about The Legacy! I stopped by their last month when I was on vacation and loved it! I had serious stimulation overload and couldn't focus on trims but I had a wonderful time digging all the leather scraps!❤
That is so awesome! It was definitely overwhelming the first time I went in, but at least they have some organization system. That helps a bit.
Wawak has a Canadian site! I asked for things from there for my birthday! It’s wonderful! I’ve had good luck over the years at thrift stores. Material, notions, patterns and books. I try to avoid my local store because I have a problem staying on target! When I do hit my local fabric store I try to pick up a big spool of black and white thread. If I want a matching thread I can usually get into look at thread without looking at a fabric…. Some times the marked down area or sales get me thought. My stash keeps growing as I’ve found some really nice fabric at the thrift store lately!
Sometimes the thrift store stash is just too good to pass up.
Sometimes I have had luck with shopping the home decor section at thrift stores with a mind to reuse. Curtains and bedlinens can be repurposed into yardage for garments. Once I found a set of 5 silk satin window draperies for $10.
Those are great tips!! Thank you.
Wawak is fantastic.
They are sooo good.
