Since I am making a black witchy costume for Halloween time, I'm thinking making a bunch of these in black, and adding to the skirt of the dress, would be fantastic....I might add little purple and black jewels to make them extra extra.

Also, I love using contrast thread as well. The thread only has to match if you want it to!

THIS. I need to make something about how contrast threads are OK. I don't understand why folks had on it so bad.

      @@bookhoarding you are welcome!
I showed it to two folks, who loved it!
I am wondering about making a mini one out of craft foam and a stapler.
If it works I can give them out as Halloween favors🦇🌻

I'm going to a wedding next week and this seems like the perfect way to add a gothic touch to an otherwise predictable guest look!

I worry about using contrast thread when machine topstitching becuase I actually suck at sewing and can't keep my seams evenly spaced. If I don't have a match and still need to sew through, I will use a very tiny backstitch with the closest colour I have, comes out pretty subtle...

I totally get it. After I did a bunch of basic stitch practices in class I got more confident. It's hard too because we're all harder on ourselves.

@@bookhoarding LOL no it's a me thing, can't machine sew a straight line, can't cut a straight line with scissors... can't handwrite legibly.... been practicing all these skills for decades, I accept my limitations. I keep hoping a new machine or scissors will fix it but alas, it's me, not my tools. But life's all about the workarounds, I draw my stitch lines rather than my seam allowances so my cut lines matter less, I hand-sew anything that has to be pretty and I block-letter anything anyone else needs to be able to read.
