      Finally sorted, in the video it said about loosening the door nuts and spinning the door latch around. But found another video which was more detailed showing the door nuts being removed. All works well nice and quiet again.

    An official GM bulletin says to remove those side filters after engine has done some miles anyway. They probably work well when engine is bedding in but clog up eventually, hence the bulletin.

    Hi just came across this. I've changed the one shown and the car runs and sounds better. However, a few mechanics have said if you change one you should change the other, although I can't recall the diagnostic check showing a fault on two but did on one, now changed. Would you recommend changing the other or is it case of if it ain't broke don't fix it?

    • @darrencarter1227
      @darrencarter1227 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I did always change both, because you will find in some cases it will throw up fault codes, so it is good practice, and helps the vvt run smoothly....

    Great video, just came across this as I was doing the same on my Vectra C (same engine) - I have had to replace the inlet solenoid due to damage trying to remove it to clean it - one question, do you need to get the "new solenoid" programmed to the car once installed?

    • @darrencarter1227
      @darrencarter1227 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, just clear any fault codes, relating to the solenoids, before fitting the new one's....

    • @dunnockdan
      @dunnockdan 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@darrencarter1227 Thanks for your reply, so would removing the old one and fitting new one, show the fault codes?

    • @darrencarter1227
      @darrencarter1227 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The old fault codes will stay on ,until you remove them, so you might get the same symptoms, plus it's good practice to clear and check regularly....

      @dunnockdan 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@darrencarter1227 ah I am with you, never had any symptoms with this solenoid was only trying to clean it, but it broke on me, so had to buy new one, was just wondering if it was just plug and play with the new one, or whether I need the car to learn the new part

    I was going to do this as my Vectra C drivers door was clunking loudly. Before getting tools out I thought I'd smear on some grease on the tie bar (Castrol LM) and it sorted it out instantly. Not saying this will work for everyone, but worked for me, so worth a try first. Good luck.
