Tough question. One I would only be willing to answer to a serious buyer. If you are “serious” let me know.
Theoretically and Hypotheticaly. If someone wanted to buy your collection. And for the sake of argument...lets just say you would be willing to sell. What would you put the value at? ...Now I'm sure it's priceless to you. But if you HAD to put a value on it. Curious what would it be?
Had an '07 Mach Z X. Great slead. Went over it from top to bottom. Swapped out the stock pump for a proper bosch pump and mounted it in the foot well, next to the battery, sealed up the air box, balanced and vented the clutches, etc. The secret to keeping these engines going long term was to turn up the oil pump and add about a half cup of injector oil to each tank of fuel. Doo's at that time packed the outer crank bearings with Isoflex grease and the inner bearings relied on whatever airraded oil was floating around in the crank case...which in hindsight was a pretty crap design. They worked great a few thousand miles, but eventually you'd have to tear down the block and repack the outer bearings...and if they, or the inner crank and rod bearings were bad, replace the crankshaft. And if you let them go too long, the rods would usually get sloppy come apart and window the case. Then I got creative and added a set of Crank Shop twin pipes, fuel controller and did some clutching....and the thing was an absolute weapon. I did eventually blow it up, fooling around with the Boondocker control box while doing speed passes one afternoon. That proved to be a pretty costly mistake...but it did give me the opportunity to get into the engine. I ended up taking things a step further with the rebuild and drilled the lower half of the case to drip oil directly on the center bearings, which combined with everything else, pretty much took care of lubrication issues. Ran it 2-3 more years after that. I ended up selling it to a guy in Michigan about 8-years-ago. And wouldn't you know it, he messaged me last winter and told me he had put about 5,000-miles on it since I sold it to him and wondered if he should tear it down to rebuild it. I asked him if it blew up, but he claimed that it was still running as strong as the day I sold it to him, that he just hadn't heard of one lasting that long. lol
That’s one heck of a story! Glad to hear the sled is still running strong!
@@skidoojunky6230 Ironically Dustin, I probably learned half of the little idiosyncrasies of this sled, over hundreds of threads I'd rummaged through, or participated in on Dootalk, from yourself and others like you who were elbow deep in them during their heyday. Do you still frequent the site?
Is that a spitfire in the back at the end?
Yes, it is brand new, never ridden
What is in there a 302
Yes
Peanut man was the oil embargo no fuel after 6:00 pm
Such a waste run that thing gently

I was here that day,at Waconia, awesome day it was. This is a great video. I spent a good hour looking at these awesome machines. Thanks for putting on the display. My favorite video.🏁
Glad you enjoyed it!
Were Canadian and U.S. models different? i,m looking at buying an 2007 with 3,000 km on it. But it has a black tank not a clear one.
Hey Dustin, I recently purchased 2 mxz’ for parts for my 98 670 a few days ago, one of them appears to be a 98 mxzx 500 lc, it had been taken apart (motor out, seat off, gas tank off etc..) but the actual tunnel is in good shape, It looks like the vin plate is missing but there is a hand etched vin…on a tag near where the vin plate would be….i have no idea if this is something people are looking for, I can send pics if need be, google isn’t telling me anything….just would like to know before tearing down for parts.
Thanks for reaching out. To know what exactly model you have I would just need the first 4 number of the model number
I don’t have that info, I think it has been removed, am I able to send you pics of what I have
Would there be a location on the tunnel (hidden) that bombardier would have stamped the vin?
@@CD-kn3ccit is stamped in the right hand side of the tunnel where your right ankle would be while sitting on the sled
@@skidoojunky6230there is no stamping in the tunnel whatsoever, there is a small hand etched vin plate to the left of where the vin plate would be rivetted, ASG01B99991230111
Very informative, thank you.
Love your videos and collection ! My dad ran all early 90’s ski doo’s. We ran brand new ones that last 7-8 years. Sold them. Now looking to get back into the vintage ski doo’s . Thanks for the awesome videos!
Glad you enjoy them!
I had a 1994 MXX. I got it second hand from a dealer in Quebec just north of Montreal. The stickers said MXX, not MXZX. It had the gas shocks all around. Also had a 1971 Elan which I still miss...
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I would like that Mustang.
How come you don’t have any ski doo motorcycles (can am)
Because you haven’t found me any yet
Nielsen Enterprises in Illinois sold my dad a 79 and 80 Invader 440's. The owners daughter had a 550 and raced it. Always wanted one!
Whats the hp of the 670 twin pipe?? And would you say its faster then a 95.5 f3??
If memory serves me correctly I believe they were around 120-125hp. If set up correctly they would run right with the 95.5 Form III.
Kawasaki seems to always be underrated. A lot of time and $ went into R&D in the late 70's in my opinion 340 and 440 still around speaks to the bulletproof bottom ends and definitely will built machines. Great video beautiful sleds!
I have the same machine in my garage. It has 11k miles on it and it still looks and runs like new. I rebuilt the engine at 10k miles and put a new set of ski's and a new track under it. It can still hang with a lot of newer machines. I changed the pilot jets from 17.5 to 20 and added a 20 thou shim under the needles. I am running 2007 needles. I don't think I will ever sell it. It still looks mint after all these years.
My buddy had that sled and he would usually win in a longer lake race, it had long legs on top. I don't remember anything stock under 800cc beating it. That chassis transferred very well out of the hole but handling wasn't great. We had to put a pile of money into our Polaris sleds just to hang with it.
Still the best looking Ski-Doos ever (Mach 1-X and Plus X), though the all red 2001 MXZ X 800 is close. I always loved the bullet shaped hood with NACA ducts. With low windshields though since the high and even mid heights did it no favors and the low was 'no' windshield.
now that's a collection
love to see a video on those mercs
super sweeet 👍👍👍👍
Got one of them, nr003 with revers. Unfortunately without the efi-system. Almost impossible to find a formula efi that still have the efi-system.
This was the point in time where my father stopped selling SkiDoo at our dealership. We never discussed that decision as I was just a kid but it was a sad time to be a dealer. Great video and wonderful machine!
I remember one sitting in the local dealership for years
Supernice
Sweeeet 👍👍
What a sick little beast! I had one when I was just a kid and didn't appreciate how special it was.
They really were ahead of their time!
Dustin, thanks for the video and the time spent keeping the heritage of these machines alive!
My pleasure! Thanks for watching!
I have one of these things it used to be a race sled when my uncle had it it’s just been sitting in the garage. It has no oil so I’m just wondering what it takes.
Feel free to reach out and I would be happy to see if I can talk you through getting it going.
Theres one for sale where i live for $18000 canadian with 28 thousand km on it. Is that a good deal or no?
Given the lack of access to parts I’m going to have to say, no, that’s not a good deal with that many miles/km on it.
My fuel pump fix is a2003 sdi high pressure pump with in tank dual pick ups..no more low pressure pump
Humm, I’d like to hear more about you fuel pump mod. I have an 05 and recently blew the motor. It only had about 4000mi on a new motor. I believe the fuel pump failed and it just came to a grinding hault on the trail. I’m not even sure what to expect when I open it up. I hope a home and piston will fix it. Nothing I have ever ridden puts a smile on my face like this Mach does and I’d love to get her back on the go again.
