1964 Chrysler 300K Passenger Side Mirror Installation
The 1963 and 1964 Chryslers have a front fender shape that requires a wedge under the mirror for proper position. We install a passenger side rear view mirror in this video using that wedge and a few other tricks we learned from previous mirror installations.

We figure out how to restore these pieces. I think I came up with a pretty good match for the gold color although there are other colors that might be a better match. Let's see how well this color does and if we need to change it, now we know how to do it.

Chrysler 300J Heater Switches, Fan Motor, Rear Carpet

We figure out the problem(s) with the fan motor by taking a deep look at heater switches. We end up with all 3 fan speeds at all heater buttons as we should. The rear carpet install is finished and the new rear seat cushions installed. Also a quick look at crank pulleys as we install the correct belts and pulleys for an AC car.

1963 Chrysler heater motor replace
มุมมอง 1903 หลายเดือนก่อน
I get nothing from the heater fan on the J. Removal and install of the heater blower box is not easy so I checked and rechecked that the fan was indeed bad before jumping in. A replacement fan works although I still have a switch or wiring issue to solve I should have 3 fan speeds but I only have 2. A follow up video is brewing.

The rebuilt engine for the Silver K is ready to fire. First we need a new starter motor. I couldn't get the old style from Napa but other suppliers (O'Reilly's?) may have them. The new style needs modification to fit. Engine test went well. Fixing a pegged temperature gauge. Fixing a stuck back up light switch. Progress.

We continue work on the 300K, getting the rebuild engine ready for its first run. During a lull in the project, we try Calyx exhaust paint on the manifolds. MUY bueno bob
Beautiful Exner car! This is the year that the all-new Torqueflite 3-speed automatic push-button transmission made its debut in mid-year introduced in April 1956. That was the only automatic to mate to a big Chrysler Hemi V8, so having a manual 3-on-the-tree stick shift was a better deal before those came out (except a 4-speed floor shift would have been better, but they were not trending in American cars until 1957-58). Nicely done 300-B.
The first Torqueflite B was built in January. It was not a mid-year introduction.
@@Chrysler300Club well, almost. wasn't it the spring of 1956 when Torqueflite was first offered on the 1956 Plymouth Fury? A friend who owned one told me that. Also, when was Torqueflite first offered on DeSoto and Dodge cars? Thanks for your valuable information.
Your videos are extremely helpful, Bob.
Hi Mr. Merritt, my Dad and I are building a custom '56 Windsor. I am in the process of cleaning/repairing all the interior dash components. The schematic shows a bulb to illuminate the transmission's shift buttons, however when I disassembled the shifter assembly I didn't see a provision(hole or bracket) for a bulb. And when I held a trouble light behind the letters they didn't illuminate. Wondering if you could shine some light on this question, pun intended 😃Thank you for your time.
The light for the buttons is nestled in between the buttons. It is in its own socket and shines onto the shafts of the buttons. That is how the button heads light up. Contact bob@simplexco.com if you need more info.
@@Chrysler300Club Perfect! Thank you again and all the best!!
A wealth of information, thank you for sharing!
Some states did not allow the running light. I suspect that dealer Sourced lense was used in cars that did not have the running Light feature. If Don Warner RIP was with us he would know LOL.
Which lens were they built with and when and why was it changed?
The clear lens is correct.
Looks like 150! Very impressive.
the 3D Astra-Dome is always a thrill, but especially the Panelescence at 150mph ...there's so many numbers lit!
She's coming on great, Bob.
The amount of delicate handling these knobs require to restore is quite the art, fantastic work.
An article in one of the early "Collectible Automobile" magazine advises that a contributor discovered a partially dismantled 300C in a wrecking yard some where in the US and noted the VIN plate showed that it was the remains of the first one built.
Absolutely fantastic! Cannot wait to get mine finished up.
Looking great Bob!
What a treasure Bob did those 1963 Chryslers ever come with optional headrests I know the 64s did?
I don't show headrests on the 1963 option list. You are correct they are available in 1964. You could get an option with left and right or you could get right only.
@@Chrysler300Club Ramblers were the first with head rests as I recall, they had reclining seats. Then the Chrysler New Yorker Salon for 1963, a mid-year trim option had as standard headrests and a reclining passenger seat. In '64, Chrysler bucket seats, Imperial "aircraft style" buckets, and Salon models offered headrests in combination with the reclining seat. Also in '64 came the T-bird head rest built into the upper seatback. I have read that the reclining seat option came with that modified seatback with headrest. So I guess the headrest is all about the reclining seat :) I had a '63 Salon, it came to mind that it had that combo.
Wow, Forward Look Heaven!
Enjoyed!!!!!
You have a great channel, Bob. I'm subscribing. Dont know a thing about these Chryslers, but now I know about the power pack. 😊
Hello Bob, where did you ever find that power pack?
You can get good used ones from Murray Park or anyone with Chrysler parts from the early 1960s. Jeff Carter at JC Auto can rebuild.
Thanks, Bob: I'm a player for this one!
I recall back when my brother had his ‘63 New Yorker and how he had the car for a year and didn’t realize the pull switch for the fan speed could be pulled out to one more higher speed! I’m pretty sure the system had more than two speeds, though. That extra-high speed sure came in nice in the muggy Virginia Summers!
Yes, AC cars have a 3 speed fan system.
I’m really enjoying your posts Bob. Keep them coming!
I just got the kit for the sister car from Mobius Models.
Beautiful car
Love this. Chrysler ❤❤❤❤
Very nice ❤ Thank you very much!
I agree!
Points and condenser have been absolute for the past 30 years. I donate my timing light to a museum.
What’s the extra red lead connected to?
Nothing. I had an extra black and an extra red jumpers handy in case I needed. They didn't get used.
When I was around 18, 19 years old I had a chance to buy a 59 E convertible from an old gentleman in Compton California. He told me that it ran fine, but I only needed to worry about putting gas in it. He wanted all of 900 bucks for it. It might as well have been 9000 bucks cause I didn't have that much money. I begged my dad for a loan and he told me that I didn't need that old junk. It was a white E with about 70,000 miles. I always wondered what ever happened to it. Looking back 50 years I doubt I could have done it justice anyway as far as renovations and repairs. It was just another old car back then.j

aw shucks
More great tinkering, Bob. She's coming along.
Hello Bob. Did you put in the old gasket or did you buy a new one? I mean the windshield. Regards
I used the old windshield gasket. It was still very flexible.
I had the exact grounding problem with my H…short of pulling the compressor off, I managed to get a thin small flat headed screw driver between the temperature sensor connector and the bottom of the compressor…just enough to better seat the connector and create an air gap. Voila…no more pegged temperature gauge and nominal operation. Thanks for all your posts, very enjoyable!

I have a 2 way power seat in my plymouth, do you have any idea where to get a replacement cable?
I am guessing. Maybe Murray Park <mbpark@cbodies.com>
Gotta love the cast iron headers those long ram 413's have. I never knew they had them until I pulled my first 413 and could not believe how big they were. even the Hemi's don't have an exhaust manifold like that or the early super stock cars have them they are only on those long ram 413's.

The Chrysler 300 name lasted from 1955 til 2023. There were no 300's from '72 til '78 & '80 til '98. I am now looking for a late model 300.
You should have no trouble finding a good used 300 late model. I am a big fan, I have a 2006 and love it. I bought a new 2023 and hated the black out style. Drove it 25 miles and sold it.
