4th shiv on a Chrysler is for ride height adjustment. Almost nothing other than Imperials ever used this option, as a ride height adjustment pump, and yet it was a standard, and totally unused options, except on some ultra-rare Dodge and Plymouth excelsior edition performance versions which had auxiliary ride height adjustment pumps [Monacos, Savoys and Fleet Specials] which justified the cost of the additional manufacturing price. The [precisely twelve] Crown Royales had this, but, because there were only 12 ever made, most people don't even know they existed.
That design of three point harness is dangerous. In a front collision, the momentum would crush shoulder and spine. Over the shoulder belts should always anchor at least to or above the shoulder.
Ironically, there still is some ink/dye on that [seeminly blank] tag, and were that car something supremely special, original, virgin, and unperturbed, restoring it to be legible...ESPECIALLY WITHOUT REMOVING IT FROM ITS PLACE...would make it even MORE valuable. However, since you have pointed out that a whole lot about this car makes it much less valuable... It makes no difference if you take it off, at this point.
Some previous owner might have had the idea to turn this J into a super hot rod. I see other modifications that suggest that. I won't be doing a super hot rod.
I take special interest in this one. My late brother had a ‘63 New Yorker 4-door HT in white. Good luck! I think the 63 and 64 were the best-looking bodies.
Looks just like the first car I “drove”. lol! We had a 1963 Chrysler New Yorker in the same color as your J. Ours had a 383 with push button automatic transmission. Ol Jay bird here was only 2 when he decided he wanted to go for a ride. Crawled inside the driver side and pulled the lever that releases the brake or puts the transmission into neutral. Whatever it was, way we went rolling backwards down the driveway. Across our street and started up the neighbors driveway about a third the way up. By the time I was done with my low speed excursion. There were plenty of people around to lend any help that was needed. That’s the kind of place we grew up. We all were a family or at least a community. I’m the youngest of 5. My oldest brother was in high school and got a hold of that car. I heard the stories of countless neutral drops and pushing the drive button . Pretty much beat on it till it was dead. I’m sure it took a lot of punishment though!
A friend of a friend has a Chrysler with a long fam intake. The car is shot . But all there . probably get it for a really good price. If interested .I'll get the number. Rich Rusnak Hastings pa
@@Chrysler300Club Spread the word . It's probably going to go cheap . If we still went to Carlisle I'd buy it . My car is a factory Max Wedge Savoy . . Long Ram isn't something I need . I'd like to see it go to the right person. It's the whole car with 413 .

Agreed. Those belts are now gone.

I really enjoy your videos, Bob. That '300J' is a great find!!
Thank you, nice of you to say so.
@@Chrysler300Club I can get pics and send them. I've seen them my buddy has pics .
Cool car which appears to be in good condition. How they fitted those seat belts is a mystery!

Yessir, I am a big fan of 63 64 too. Well engineered cars, reliable as all get out.

That era for Chrysler products was top notch for reliability and quality.

Thanks. This car would take a short ram . I have a spare short ram but don't know if I will use it on this car.
