Right until then, I thought Amber was another White Prophet / related to the Fool in some strange way Ugh that Fitz and Fool argument in GF. So good. I am honestly a Fitz defender in that moment.

What you were saying at the end about the intimate moments growing in importance and all… I see that while reading Royal Assassin. Personally, unfortunately, I didn’t love Assassins Apprentice but I did really like the start of Royal Assassin! And I realised that even tho I wasn’t noticing it while it was happening, I really got a good understanding of Fitzs relationship to characters like the Fool and Molly and Shrewd through AssApp and the scenes just wouldn’t have worked as well had I not had that. I’m hoping to finish Royal Assassin today!

Ooo maybe know that thing about the first to rainwylds books will make them easier for me when I get to them! You said that you envy the security of knowing Fitz and the Fool survive to that last trilogy but… personally… I wish I didn’t have that security haha bc for me it makes the stakes just seem a bit lower. Anyway really enjoying seeing your passion!

I've liked Valdemar for decades (though it took me quite a while to start because the cover art reads as romance). Almost the entire super-series is very strong writing with excellent character and plot work. (I'm not much of a fan of the Griffins trilogy.) Both of these series are among my favorites. Of more recent entries, I particularly like the Collegium Chronicles. Its tone is similar to the Heralds of Valdemar series, with an excellent protagonist and strong plot. The direct sequel to this series, Family Spies, has the same protagonists and is also quite good. Have you listened to any of the albums of songs about Valdemar? I think the first published was "Heralds, Harpers, and Havoc", which has some really excellent stuff, but there have been half a dozen or so.

I finished Dragon Keeper earlier today, and just read the prologue to Dragon Haven, I could see being underwhelmed as it came out but I think its good so far, especially Alise and Sedric's plotlines, and I love Hobb's take on dragons.

Only just got around to watching this, but ooooh my this was brilliant!! I hadn't even realised how many similarities there are, but I loved seeing all the puzzle pieces fall into place when you all pointed them out. Also, yeeees Rainwilds definitely has so much more depth and merit than people give it credit for! And I like the comparison between Arya and Malta, that makes much more sense than Sansa and Malta tbh. Now I want to reread these series hahahah thanks 🤣🥰

I haven’t read any Valdemar yet, but I have read 5 or 6 of her Elemental Masters series. They’re also nice 😊 and can be read independently, as far as I can tell.

Hobb is definitely writing a continuation with Bee. Not long ago she made a tweet asking for advice on whether "someone roughly the height of a 10 year old" could remove the tack of their own horse! :) If Bee is about the height of a 10 year old then we could be looking at a story where she's much older. That would be very interesting.

I think Arrows was the third series i read. Mage Wars, then Vanyels story wer the first 2 i read. Then, continued from there. Honestly, I believe i read the whole series out of the order most people did xD. Nice video ^-^ love Robin Hobb as well. Lackey, Hobbs are two of my favorite author. thorarinn gunnarsson is another good one if you can find his mystara books anymore

This was such a great intro to the series for me! Never apologize for loving something, and this gentler and charming series sounds pretty great to me as a switch from the usual extreme drama of the sff I typically read.

Cool intro! I recently read Heralds and agree, in this day and age it would be YA, though I don't think the climax of the 3rd book would be age appropriate - it's pretty dark. The whole non-triangle situation with Talia, Dirk and Kris was great because it was just a jumbled mess of romance, friendship, assumptions and miscommunication, ha. Definitely planning to read more Valdemar. Have you read others besides these?
