Curve cutter it’s take time and not accurate
is this simulation work with the non-commercial edition of Houdini ? Because when i did the pyrosolver, volumesource and smoke object in the dop Network, there nothing happened, i don't have a simulation ty in advance for the answer
Hello, lever du? Sjekk Discord
I've done lots of messing with matrix rotation but I've never thought to slerp to the final result I wanted. It's a great way of thinking!
Hey Awesome video! Just a quick question! What effect does the 3 blurs do during compositing? It's a super subtle tweak and maybe youtube compression destroyed any details it mightve changed or blurred.
The purpose is to emulate diffusion that happens in real cameras :) If you google 'lens diffusion' there are many photos that showcase the effect to the more extreme. I usually prefer lens fx ( chromatic abberation, glows, stigmatism, diffusion, flares etc. ) to be subtle.
@mnymanVFX interesting! I do super subtle chromatic aberration in my comps sometimes but I didn't think of diffusion. I'll try that, thanks!

Hi Mats, I am confused my shape doesnt even look like that even with the exact same nodes.... am i missing somehting in settingS?
你好,我按照你的教程来制作,我用redshift渲染发现是黑色画面,有什么办法可以解决它吗?
Great tip. Will the new colors become the new defaults for nodes or just per file? If not the defaults can you make the set colors new defaults per node and how?
brooo why not showin how u rendered it? im loosing my mind, wth cant i simply click render and get a normal video like in blender??? i dont want exr nor anything else just a normal mp4 -.-
There is a hip file in the description with the full render setup for free my friend
@@mnymanVFX oh thanks, pls do more tutorials, i like ur explaining style!
12:30 the blur SOP blew me away 😀👏. So simple to implement. Is it better then using an Advect by Gradient which is more cumbersome?
6:21 I always wondered, does converting to 16bit reduces the quality of the Velocity volume? 😮
6:21 I always wondered, does converting to 16bit reduces the quality of the Velocity volume? 😮
Best RBDs in Solaris tutorial on the planet.
Hey, Great Tutorial! How did You connect 2 nodes dragging wire from one to another and then typing the name of node to connect to?
Sorry, its been a while haha. Can you give me a time stamp? If you have a node selected, search for a new node and press shift+enter to create it, it will automatically connect to the node you have selected.
@@mnymanVFX sure - th-cam.com/video/JS3rw7W1gN4/w-d-xo.html - that moment wiring 2 nodes into vdbactivate :)
I would prefer working mostly outside of solaris. Exporting the static fractured object as usd and export the points. Then in solaris use a modifypointinstances with a transform pieces inside.
Fantastic tutorial! Clear, informative, and really well-structured. I really appreciate the high-quality content you provide for the community!
Hi mats do u know how I could constraint that simulation to a geometry bounds. ty for ur tutorials
Hey. Nice Video. What if you already have your sims layed out in the normal SOP/DOP fashing, how would you convert to this kind of workflow?
You would bring your fractured static pieces with a SOP import and you would bring your RBD points from SOPs into the Transform by SOP Points node!
@@mnymanVFX you have not messed around with usdexport / referincing? It feels like its a bit better performance In Lops. For example with Sop Import even on a cached bullet sim (690 points) Im getting only 5-6 fps In solaris..
@@HDGamingVelocity For sure you could cache the pieces with an USD export, but that is basically exactly the same step I do when I save the static fractured pieces inside of LOPs. USD Export is just a LOP network after all
@@mnymanVFX makes sense. Have you changed your workflow to create geo/sims from within the LOPS and thus staying clear from the other networks?
do you need to drag it into the scene every time you fetch ? Thank you for the video
Very well done. A longer tutorial/class on Solaris in this style would be great. Thanks.
That means alot Paul. Thank you so much for your kind support!
Thanks for this amazing Usd video👏🏻
Thank you so much
Amazing sir ..need more on particles
Particles in Solaris or particles in general?
Some great little tips in here. Thanks!
Is it normal that my PC took 40 minutes to cache to disk at 6:52? I'm running a i7 12700 and a rtx3060 (notebook) with 32gb ddr5 and NVME ssd. I'm new to Houdini so I'm sorry if this is a dumb question
Sounds like a long time. Laptops often run hot, so it might throttle during caching
I named the file without the $F4, which gave me only one frame with all the information from every frame. After fixing that, the cache time went to 3 minutes hahah
@@mnymanVFX Thanks for the answer, and for the tutorial too!
@@MarxFerreira Haha it happens to the best of us! Cache node probably got confused trying to recache from the beginning with each new frame.
good one!
ur channel is sooo good, pls do more videos!
plz dont stop with tutorials youre so good bro
Hi thanks for this, can you please reupload project file? :)
there's problem when i tryna add bind export it it doesnt work. it say's "Cannot primitive attribute "name", binding volume as density. whats now im stuck please help me
Very helpful, thank you
how do i render? im trying to follow other tutorials but it just wont work
Hello , Can you help me with the render settings you did after File cacheing and before taking it to NUKE as i am using karma and i am not able to view the Blue color on the particles...!!⁉
The second vfxpreession is not working. Please help
Hey. You can also add this check if color is not None: for item in sel: item.setColor(color) else: hou.ui.displayMessage("Color has not been selected")
It will be great if you can do a tutorial for a logo disintegration with particles, fire and smoke!. Great content by the way.
Hi! can someone please help me? I'm stuck around 3.10 , when I change the VDBactivate to reference nothing happens! I have an empty box and a really small box inside it. I'm really new to Houdini so I'm not very skilled! I hope someone can help me!
in vdbactivate node use "Reference"
Same problem. Houdini 20.5. always the same. cant see it in viewport
So is this is a better faster workflow, than using FBX, when you want to import things, but maybe your colleagues doesn't want or have Houdini licenses? Thinking, do I need to go "Fetch" every time to update, and can you save this Houdini file?
It's annoying I can only use this created Houdini file, then I cannot copy paste from other files either...
how long have you been doing this for
why in the description link is to Nuke instead of Houdini?
Its a link to the Nuke 90 day trial that was available at the time I made this video. There is some slight compositing at the end.
I really like your videos, I have learned a lot Bro, a question Is there any chance you can make a tutorial on how to bring a fluid simulation along with textures to Unreal Engine? I've searched for days and days on the internet and I haven't found something that would work for me, it would be great if you could make one.
hi, "volume noise fog" is missing dont k way?
@@gunayali-wj4xy Maybe they removed it in Houdini 20. I will check and get back to you
@@mnymanVFX On the contrary, it may need an update
@@mnymanVFX my software i mean 🤒
@@gunayali-wj4xy I just checked, and the nodes are still present in Houdini 20.5 :) Yeah maybe you have to update if you are using an older version. I believe those nodes were released in 19 or 19.5. Thanks for watching!
@@mnymanVFX Thanks to you, you are amazing at these simulations good luck 💚
Super thanks. This is a very cool project and tutorial
Thanks! This helped a lot!
Hey man! Such an amazing tutorial! Thank you very much for all the time and effort you put into this. Like, comment, and subscribe to help promote the channel. Kudos! 🙌
Is it possible to achieve a similar render output without using Redshift? But by using Karma instead? I couldn't figure out how you got the particles to look so small.
You have to adjust the pscale attribute to adjust the size of the particles
in houdini 20 doesnt working.
What isnt working?
@@mnymanVFX I'll be running through this tutorial next month in houdini 20.5 and will let you know if I encounter any issues with more detail than this guy. This looks fantastic btw thank you for sharing
