The way people from Mexico speak depends on the region they live in.
Muchas Gracias. Esta lección es muy útil 😊
Is there a free lesson where I can actually learn the real Mexican Spanish? and if so what is it called?
Este video esta de padre! LOL
This is good. Now here in the United States us Mexicans speak similar to Mexican in Mexico. And in Texas, us Tejano's also speal slightly different. Not all Mexicans come from Mexico. As in my family we have always been here.
American male, Spanish teacher with near-native speaking ability. I'm in my early 50's but look a bit younger, maybe in my early 40's. Still, I'm no kid! On both of my trips to Mexico City and Queretaro in the last two years, I cannot count how many people addressed me as "joven." I guess it's a term of endearment, but it sounds a bit odd, especially when the person addressing me is a waitress in her mid-20s! I do not think I have been addressed this way in other Spanish-speaking countries. Any thoughts?
Just to be clear, I am the customer in all these situations. Not just in restaurants, but in stores, or even interacting with the workers at a tourist attraction, etc.
This might be more regional, but I often hear "enchilado/a" to refer to being mad. I am angry, estoy enchilado.
Great leason. Thank you
Please leave the example sentences a little bit longer on the screen. They go away so quickly, it's even hard to click stop with the mouse. You are a fantastic teacher with a wonderful sense of joy and it's a pleasure to learn with you!! :)
Oh, thank you! So sorry for the speed; I'm working on it 🥲
Puede poner pausa con the space bar o la letra K. also try playing with the left and right arrows (5 seconds < >) and also letters J and L (10 seconds < >) . Diviértete!
CDMX Spanish or Mexican Spanish? Back when I lived in el Norte, the term "Mande?" quickly identified you as from CDMX. Has this changed? Is it more generally accepted?
Gracias! Estuvo muy claro
Me da gusto 😊 ¡gracias a ti!
Orale!!
Mexicans don't say dinero? Or cuidado? I find that hard to believe.
When you say ¿Tú cómo dormías?, this is correct too, right? You are not asking how did you sleep yesterday, dormiste,. You are asking the person to describe the conditions of how they used to sleep. Is this correct? Obviously, for "dormías" you would need more context.
Ay, muy bien😊😊😊 You got it! The example is great, and your reasoning is even better 😉 Yo dormía en el piso (details, conditions, habits).
To be literal translator. Mande? means literally give me an order? But it’s so used this way that it kind of translates to ask? 😁
Mis amigas mexicanas me enseñaron: Si no sale de tus nalgas, no es tu pedo = if it didn’t come out of your but t it’s not your fart = it’s not your problem
Chilango = trash Spanish
Mexican Spanish is like its people and regions not monolithic. Be careful using the expressions in this video. Mexicans are very class conscious. Very. How you express yourself is very important. It's important to know what the idiomatic and slang words are; more importantly, it much more important to know when to and not to use them. One can never be too formal even among one's peers in Mexico; being too informal even among peers can get one in trouble fast. Jus!t saying...(speaking from experience)
Of these I already know about.
It’s good to know the slang so you can understand what people are saying. As a woman I would never use guey around relatives unless I wanted to sound low-class. Men can use it around other men they know, but some older people would get offended.
@ I doubt middle aged women use it. And I don’t know any women who call each other that in mixed company. I’m sure it depends on age and familiarity. I knew a young man who was pissed a young boy called him that in Tijuana. To me it’s something young people call each other now like bro. It’s annoying to hear either way.
@ cool. It’s just not done with the people in my family. My father’s family was really old school. Men can talk like that, but not women. I really wouldn’t want to use it with people I know.
@@elim2403 thanks, the point I was trying to make is context is everything. I just hope people are aware when they use slang and it varies from country to country.
@ LMAO. See what I mean!
I love how much everyday useful info is put into each video and I love the pace because I can pause, repeat, and journal to learn better. Another banger.
Thank you so much! 🥰 I'm glad you liked it!
Para Por y Para Para... Que Maestra ella!
slow it down if you really want others to learn!
CHALE, you missed something
we do say those, no seas loca mija.
Very good content but transitions are so fast. No time to sink it in. I have to stop after every expression. Otherwise I forget the main word in a race to switch to next one 😊. Thanks for important lesson, I watch telenovellas and hear these expressions all the time. Some guessed already ,some didn't really know still. This is extremely helpful. ❤
you don't let it sink on the fly while the video progresses. You got to stop the video.
Me siento triste cuando no trabajar mucho.
Jajajajaja ¿entendí bien? ¿Te sientes tristes cuando NO trabajas mucho? Yo me siento triste si trabajo mucho 🤫
I love your videos... you are increible! Pero, pero, pero... por favor, mas lento. If you notice some of the other comments that are discussing "lots of information" then you may entiendas that us beginners need more time to process this information during your video. Yes, hitting the pause button is part of the solution for us... but the other part of the solution is to request that you also provide more pauses in your presentation. If you present the information more slowly, with more pauses, then we learn better... and we don't become exhausted. The current pace is like trying to drink water through a firehose of information... it's too much info, too fast. Mas lento helps us viewers... and I think it increases your subscribers / views. I am already a subscriber and once again, I love your videos and you truly are amazing... just the one request: allow us more time to process your excellent info. Slow down, and more pauses so that your graphics stay on the screen longer for us to read and process. Thank you once again for your EXCELLENT videos!! I am very grateful!🙏🙏🙏
People need to learn how to hit the pause button, digest the info, try their own examples, and unpause. The rest of us know how to use modern technology and know this is not a live TV show. We know we're in control of the information and even the pace of her speech by adjusting settings. Ma'am, please keep doing these great videos. I'm learning so fast by knowing how to learn independently from your videos.

Sorry about the speed. I'm really trying to work on it 🥲
¿Podemos usar mientras de + infinitivo? Ejemplo: No fumes mientras de cocinar.
Hola, amigo :) qué gusto verte por acá. No, it's mientras + verbo conjugado: No fumes mientras cocinas 🤓
I live in Alto California and that was interesting but way too fast for me to catch it all. I want to be able to learn Mexican Spanish.
I was searching in Internet these little words/phrases a few days ago. Now I have found!😊
¡Qué bueno! So good to know that the video helped you 😊
Trucha morro
A lot of people pronounce yo as yo and some as jo... Which is correct?
Both! It depends on the person and the country 😬
@@TellMeInSpanishEng thank you ❤
I get so tripped up by all the synonyms. Will I be ok if I follow these rules for speaking: entonces = only use for time marking “then” así que = “so/therefore” por eso = avoid entirely por lo tanto = avoid entirely I’m probably missing more 😂
Jajajajajaja, I love this 😂You can, but you have to be really careful because, in some cases, your synonym may be too formal for the context 😉If I used "así que" with my friends, they would be like, "Okay, Shakespeare, chill". This is just an example btw, adding some drama to make my point 😜
@@TellMeInSpanishEng I thought asi que was the informal one compared to por eso / por lo tanto 😭
I paused and took notes. No one can remember it on the fly anyway so what's the need in slowing it down? I think the speed was fine. Excellent video. Side note- in English the curse word "damn" is spelled with a silent "n" at the end. "Dam" is the thing that beavers make. Side note number 2: my husband tells me not to say "chin". He said he thinks it's more like the F word in English. But I'm still glad to know it. Thanks!
Exactly. I like how she went fast. Anyone can stop and study. Not sure why people want to do it on the fly.
Man this confused the hell out of me. Amazing video just jam-packed with information. I’m going to need to rewatch this one like 10 times 🤣. I’m really struggling with learning Spanish in the United States. It’s muy deficil not being surrounded and immersed in it. Just when I feel I’m doing really well and learning a ton I have moments where I’ll try to talk to a native or listen to natives talk and I realize how far I have to go. Sometimes I want to give up, pero I will NOT!
Keep going! I tried to cram a lot in the beginning and then realized it is a marathon and not a sprint. I wish I could learn faster but I've come to accept that being consistent will get me there within a few years. I use an app called Hello Talk and its very helpful
OMG, boy are we on the same boat. Everything you said goes for me as well. But just like you, I won't give up!
Muy bien, mis queridos estudiantes, ¡no se rindan! 💪It may feel slow at first while building foundations and finding consistency, but once those are in place, things start to flow😉
@@KilpatrickProductions I used to use that app too! And Tandem-they’re definitely helpful!
very informative thanks ma'am🥰😊
¡Gracis a ti!🥰
Gracias por todo..........🙂
Thanks for this lesson, wow it us a lot of information...
¡Gracias a ti! 🥰
Y "no mames"? (Sin duda más chido que "no manches.")
Great lesson just wish we had direct translations. If we used more direct translations languages would be 100x easier.
¡Qué pex chava! I'm Hispanic and know some Spanish to get by, but I feel embarrassed when I don't understand certain slang words and phrases! 😅 I'll definitely be watching your channel to improve my Mexican Spanish!
Is 'a toda madre,' old school¿
Do you have a video or can you make a video regarding the two verbs, ser and estar? Are there any tips that you can recommend so that you can differentiate the two and use them correctly okay? Thank you love your
Yes, I already have a video on ser vs estar. Here is the link: th-cam.com/video/p1G9JHV5oto/w-d-xo.html
Cool video, but I don't agree with the güero part, I don't know where you're from, but to me it doesn't have anything to do with hair color but rather skin color. So when someone is clearly white, they're called güero or güera, and I'm sure in most parts of Mexico it is used that way.
I would say instead of mande, say. Digame. Please tell me
Mande must be old school
:furiously scribbles notes:
A lot of this slang also makes u sound less educated and like from the lower classes. Rememer mexico is VERRRRRRY classist.
Thank you so much for this! I grew up with Spanish speaking parents but it was a time where the focus was only on English so regrettably, I never learned the language. All these terms seem familiar but now I know the actual meaning! Much as gracias!
Right, I must be no sabo Viejo
