Lucky could have been to fat and when there to fat it’s hard to breed them and if they do get bred there litter sizes are small.

I tan the hides for fun. But there's not much or a market for them where I'm at. It's not really worth it. And they come from young rabbits so the quality isn't as great. The skin tears easily.

Hi ashlee. Im 71 With 4star health. Love your videos. At 12years old i got my christmas wish. A white buck black doe and spotted doe. I was the only one in our town locust bayou arkansas who had rabbits. I was selling as many as i could raise for 50cents each. When i got married and had a son and daughter i got rabbits again. I was breeding for color. i got a fulblood dutch buck and was breeding to spotteddoes graydoes etc. the best thing my exwife could cook back then was homemade rabbit dumplings. Im glad youguys are blessed with a happy home. I have several short films on youtube. Phil chambliss films.

I appreciate these videos so much. Of all the breeders, you have the nicest way about you. I finally got a breeding pair, a Dutch buck and a beautiful mini-rex doe. Rabbits that are not lops are hard to come across in Thailand. I'm worried the buck will go sterile because even at night it's about 28 or 29 degrees celcius here. And that's in the cool season. Even with the ice bottles and fans I'm worried. Fingers crossed. I've tracked down a pregnant New Zealand doe though. I want to see what the cross of a Dutch-Mini Rex looks like crossed with a NZ!

I agree with you. They are free range chickens. I just have them in there temporarily. We moved them to a completely different area than they are used to so I wanted them to get the hang of their new home so they wouldn't be confused when I let them out. I had issues in the past where we would move them and they would be confused where to go to bed at night.

I just purchased our breeding trio. They are New Zealand/silver fox cross and so very sweet. Can not wait till late fall early winter when our doe’s will be old enough to breeding. I had weight loss surgery a year ago and currently struggle to get enough protein in daily.

I raise all three Argente breeds. Starting with the Champagne d’Argent, absolutely love them and their beautiful silvering, wonderful temperaments, and amazing mothers! Then I got into Argente Brun, and Crème d’Argent at the same time and have been enjoying them. I’d say out of all three breeds my Argente Bruns have the best personalities and are constantly wanting attention and attention. The Bruns are so rare and oftentimes over looked and missed. They are great meat producer as well.

Great video as always! It's funny ... I was talking to my breeder about breeds. He is a LEGEND here in Quebec, Canada. Imagine he has been in the rabbit industry for 51 years. A walking encyclopedia... He presently has 420 rabbits and all sell to breeders or as pets. 7 litters a year and he doesn't sell meat! He offered me american sables purebred. He's been breeding these for 45 years. He's retiring soon and he is starting to pass on trade secrets. So he gave me a big one today! The only way to keep a perfect Sable purebreed and propagate the pure genes over time is to breed a Sable Doe with either a California or a New Zealand buck (California is better) the litter comes out as either pure California or pure Sable in a ratio of 50-50%. If you want a show rabbit, you should breed 2 Sables together. But the litter will be small (max of 5-6 kits) and the sable kits become like hybrids. They can be rebread.... But there are a ton of issues. That's why the Sables are not popular. So I am getting 2 California Bucks and 3 Sable does. He says the average litter size is 8. I will get both breeds from the does and they won't mix. The only weird thing is that the Sable kits will grow out 3-4 weeks slower then the California's. He just wants people to know how Pure American Sables should be bread. This system gives you lots of meat too. He would agree with everything you said. BTW, He recommends Silverfox for outside hutches in cold weather like North Eastern states or Canadian provinces. American Chinchillas are a close second. He said it's got nothing to do with the cold. Don't concern yourself with that !!! It's their higher tolerance to humidity. Silverfox have the best tolerance to higher humidity. They rarely have issues compared to other breeds in a humid weather. Anyway, sorry this got long! But I though it was good information to pass along 😊

We raise tamuk rabbits. Been about a 100° an we just have a fan on them. Its open air cages. Fan just to get airflow. They've handled it ok. We butcher at 3 months and they're almost 5lbs processed weight. But so far both does have only had 4 per each litter.

Great video! I keep NZ rabbits and a trio of egg chickens in suburbia. My chickens are on deep litter and my rabbits in hutches. I breed three times a year and my does typically have between 10-14 kits. A loss of one is usual, typically the runt. When my chickens pass, I will keep quail for eggs and meat. A lot quieter. You can dress out a quail for the table in 5 minutes and a bag of feed, if the quail are on grass will last a flock of 10 a year. Rabbits and quail will mean good variety. I’ve kept meat chickens with basic equipment, scalding in a bucket of water and hand plucking. I think they are expensive to raise and a bit gross. I’min South Eastern Australia, so heat is a real issue and I can only breed throughout the colour months. I have tried in the Summer, but I loose a third of the kits and it’s really tough on the kits and Does. Rabbits mean I keep a closed loop for my garden in fertiliser.

My Rabbit gave birth 30 hours ago. One kit was alive. The second was stuck so I went to the vets who had to pull it out not a nice experience. This morning I found the one that was alive completely disappeared, so I'm assuming she's ate it! Tonight after I've cleaned all her cage out, she's starting to make a nest again gathered all the hay and pulling her hair again. What does this mean?

I became a sub a few weeks ago, and I really like your channel! I've been watching many videos since I am setting up a simple homestead in the province of Quebec (zone 3 . Because of medical reasons, I mostly eat meat since sugar and oxalates are my enemy. I see plants as medicine. I am trying to figure out the difference in weather (zone rusticity) to see how to adapt your valuable information to my conditions. I believe that you are in New Hampshire. I understand that you need to keep your location private. But could you confirm in what zone you are ? New Hampshire is zoned 3B to 6A. This would help me greatly. Thanks again for your great videos!
