I agree with you. They are free range chickens. I just have them in there temporarily. We moved them to a completely different area than they are used to so I wanted them to get the hang of their new home so they wouldn't be confused when I let them out.
I had issues in the past where we would move them and they would be confused where to go to bed at night.
