    Thank you so much for sharing these videos. You have been a great support to me as I begin my Rabbitat. I just had my first litter...paired a silver fox Blue buck to a silver fox black doe and got 3 chocolates and 2 blacks! so surprised by the chocolates! You answered so many of my questions in this video. My only question is how many weeks old do the kits need to be before I can introduce them to fresh blackberry and raspberry leaves? They are 3 weeks old now. Thanks again!

      That is awesome to end up with chocolates!
      By that age they are eating what mom eats plus her milk. I would just start by giving the amount of leaves you normally would to mom for a week or so. And the kits will get little nibbles here and there to slowly introduce it into their diet from what you give to the mom. Then you can slowly give them more and more if you don't see any signs of tummy trouble.
      Thank you for reaching out and for your kind words! Its encouraging ☺️

    Using tile is better than Wood resting boards.

      Yeah I'm sure, I just use wood cause that's what I have laying around. It's just scrap wood and it does the job

    Love your videos! Thank you 😊. May I ask why you are getting away from the Rex breed? Your kits are beautiful and very healthy looking 🤍

      Thank you :)
      No good reason really. Rex is a great breed. But I'm getting away from them just because they are smaller and don't grow out as big. And I also really like heritage breed animals. I LOVE the Silver Fox breed. 😍

      @@rabbitathomestead thanks for your answer. The reason I’m breeding Rex is their disposition and my grandson is allergic it most rabbits. We live on five acres so in an outdoor environment he can tolerate being around the Rex breed as they are the most hypoallergenic. My grandson is 16 so he helps us a lot with the animal chores 😊🫶. We do raise them for meat but also for pets. We don’t show them though.

    Awesome video, how long can you keep them together before they start fighting??? or are they ok to keep together??

    • @rabbitathomestead
      @rabbitathomestead  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks!
      I only keep them together for 12 weeks because that's when I have to process them. But they could be together longer. I'm not exactly sure how long tho since I never keep them together longer than 12 weeks. But I have had two does together in a hutch that grew up together until breeding age. They can stay together until you breed them. Once bred they need to stay in their own separate hutches. Hope this helps

    • @rabbitathomestead
      @rabbitathomestead  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Anywhere from 6 to 8 weeks depending on the time of year. In this video I am weaning them at 8 weeks.
