Where to park the car ? Anyone please ?
I ubered because I didn’t want to deal with parking but there are garages nearby where you can park, good luck!
@ thank you!!
Are the screws solid or cannulated? Also - how do I decide which option to choose? What are the indications for design vs technique? Followed you on IG!
Hey! They can be either solid or cannulated just depending on the fracture. Generally for lag by technique we would be using a solid screw.

So cloze deletion and IO are the best flash cards in medecine studies?
Yes! Especially Cloze
@@AustinNguyenMD you're the GOAT
@thomasnoel3286 appreciate it!! 💪 best of luck!
Would you recommend step 2CK clinical vinegetts First aid ? I read endo from their and I found it quite helpful but my seniors are saying to not use fa …it’s a waste of time
Yeah waste of time it’s not the best resource I would keep it simple and stick with questions and Anki!
Hi!! Do you have an updated promo code please?
Unfortunately not currently!
@@AustinNguyenMD No worries, I appreciate your reply!
Combat in Afghanistan sounds less scary than this rotation
😂😂😂 it’s not so bad! Good luck!
Is subtracting the step 1 tags unnecessary now that there's "only step 2" tag under "no dupes" tag correct? Also, when you unsuspend certain number of cards, do you just keep them in the original deck or do u make a subdeck or filtered deck? Like keep all them in original deck will pile up to like several thousand no? sorry im a bit new to anki.
Hey! If it’s only step 2 tag then that should be fine and you don’t need to do the steps that I did. I keep everything in their original deck and as you study it will space out so you won’t be doing thousands a day. It really is based on how many cards you unlock daily at a time! Hope this helps 👍
is this deck useful if I am downloading in 2024 to study for step 2?my question is should I follow the same steps u r showing or r there any updates?
Great question! Yes, it is still the exact same steps. The most updated version of the deck is still linked, which is the free version has all the information you need to excel on step two and on clinical exams. Best of luck!
@@AustinNguyenMD thank you
Good stuff- thanks for the video. Just finished IM last week (in your backyard at Lutheran lol- fun place) and it was helpful. Granted I'm not a fan of giving a pt presentation longer than 3 minutes.
Haha! Me either that’s why I didn’t choose medicine LOL. Surgical subspecialty presentations>>> glad the video was helpful!!
@@AustinNguyenMD considering I’m at lgh for surgery starting tomorrow I’ll dig the surgical subspecialties
@Maddawg31415 You bet! Ortho all day (no bias) haha 💪🦴🔨
K kk...!!
👍
What Anki deck did you use for Pediatric rotaion? and where can I download it?
Hey! I used the Anking step 2 deck for all my clinicals and outline how to set it up in this video, best of luck!! th-cam.com/video/cOKy_hgecYM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=0twrPx1YRvZO6BS5
How long did it take you to complete that manuscript? I am an incoming first year and im looking to go into orthopedics and dont really know where to begin with trying to get first author pubs.
Hey man it took about 5-7 months! I would recommend finding some early mentors or residents with projects and start on a couple at once if you can since they all take time to start up and finish so if you can do a little at a time and learn the process it’s super helpful. Research has been an important part of the ortho match and even more so with step 1 being pass fail. Best of luck!!
Is this Colectivo? Sorry for this weird comment if I’m wrong but this looks identical to the coffee shop I go to and there aren’t many of them at all. What are the odds? I believe only 1 location looks like this too, with the garage-like aesthetic.
Good eye! Yes this is as filmed at colectivo awhile back! Haha, best of luck on your studies! 🔥
Hello Dr. Nguyen, I have a lot of AP credit and am planning on applying to UIC this fall. You say to use AP credit and use that to take upper-level courses faster, but does taking upper-level science courses fulfill med school requirements? For example, if i take ap chem to get out of general chem, does that satisfy the general chem requirement for med school if i take an upper level chem course? Sorry, just sort of confused whether I should or shouldn't use my AP credits
Great question. It absolutely can fulfill prerequisite courses so long as you supplement with higher level courses such as Orgo 1 and 2 right away as a freshman followed by Biochem 1 and 2. This may vary from medical school to medical school but generally I had no issues with any programs and I took all my credits! Best of luck!
Did u study CMS forms?
I did study the NBME practice forms, yes!
@@AustinNguyenMD does it contain alot of info more than UW ? thnxx
@kerolossamer5412 similar content but different style of questions and good exposure as shelf exams have a mix of NBME style and uworld type questions!
For some reason I can't open the Anking deck Step 2 with media. Can you share link to anki deck below plz?
Hi! Yes here it is. Please download with media file. Let me know if any issues www.reddit.com/r/medicalschoolanki/comments/swjqzh/anking_overhaul_step_1step_2_version_11_update/?
Any tips on maintaining high energy throughout these longer days? I always tend to get really tired/brain fog in the afternoons, usually after lunch haha.
Hey! Try to eat higher protein and less carbs. Avoid large meals in one sitting so you don’t get postprandial tiredness. Otherwise, the good ole cup of Joe always does the trip! Best of luck!
great video! Thank you for this!
No problem! Super happy this was helpful - best of luck to you 💪🔥
Thanks for the video. Can you share the ANKI deck for pediatrics that you used?
You’re welcome!! I used the Anking deck and describe hope to install and set it up in this other video hope it helps: th-cam.com/video/cOKy_hgecYM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=flP2dNLz7_eC70QU

Appreciate it my guy!! 💪

Congratulations!! Onto the next step (literally and figuratively) haha!! Best of luck 💪
i'm new to anki (using it for the first time ever for rotations) so i'm confused on what to do after "unlocking" the cards. i think i correctly unlocked 50 cards (they're highlighted yellow) but now i have no clue what to do next in order to review those cards. you kind of lost me there 😅
Hey! Good questions. So unlocking is actually not yellow. Yellow means they’re still suspended. Check out some of my other videos on Anki basics for more info, but once you unlock the cards they should show up blue and you can start studying the cards! Make sure your settings are all correct though 👍
Hi Austin, what do you do to get rid of the not doing cards? I'm referring to what you did at time stamp 14:42. Thanks
Hey! I use control + alt + click to remove those cards! Hope this helps 👍
So how do actually study the tags... Like how do I study FM only for exmple?
Hi! You need to filter based on the tags as outlined in the video using the shortcuts. Best of luck 👌
Starting my clerkships this May and Anesthesia / Surgery are my first! Thanks for the tips man!
Best of luck on kicking off rotations! Happy the video could be helpful. Wishing you all the best 💪🔥
is there a way to categorize the cards for review by system or specialty? Instead of having to review everything under the anking deck?
Good question! Yes, you could move the cards around or specifically study under a specific deck of cards if you click the drop down menu on the start screen but I highly recommend just studying everything together as your step exam will be all mixed content and you want to keep everything straight and in spaced repetition
God bless you and your family brother🙏
Thanks brother! Appreciate it 🙏💪
Man, I am big fan of you. Wish you a best of luck for the next chapter of your life.🎉

Hey Austin! Thank you for the video. I had a question about subdecks. I created some subdecks while studying for Step 1 but I kind of want to "reset" my anki before I start rotations but don't want to lose my time intervals. I'm currently using Ankihub, and couldn't find any resources that talk about a way to update the decks because obviously, Ankihub does that now. My thought process was that I could sign out of my ankihub, then update the deck according to anking V11, and then resign in with ankihub. I just didn't know if updating my deck would get rid of my subdecks like I wanted and put the cards back in their original decks.
Hey, great question. In regards to what you were saying about sub-decks, typically, if you update your deck, it would update each individual card, and it would not move the cards into different decks from where they were in the original location. Instead of resetting your Anki, prior to going into rotations, I would recommend, you continue to pick up studying where you left off and just right click the cards that are difficult for you and you can press the “forget” option This will allow you to relearn this card as if you have seen it for the first time. There will be some cards that you already remember and know very well and in that case, there’s no need to reset the entire interval the card. Best of luck! I hope this explanation makes sense.
you didnt mention the addon that shows stats when you click on a specific deck. may i know the name??
It should do that on its own if you click stats while inside of a deck. Otherwise, I just have the mentioned stats add-ons as listed and described
Hey austin, for some reason when i make the custom session on review ahead. it doesnt add new cards. only adds due cards. what settings to check out to include new cards?
You shouldn’t study ahead or postpone new cards or those that are “red” meaning they are still in the learning phase. Reason being, these cards have very small intervals especially new cards that haven’t had any interval yet or cards you are learning that has an interval of 1 or 2 days so you should avoid studying them ahead or postponing and instead studying them the day they are due. This add on is more for mature cards with large intervals of months or more since moving it around 1-2 days wouldn’t make a difference. Hope this helps!
Whats this ? laptop's
Asus zenbook 14!
Hi, Austin thanks for your anki videos, they are super helpful! Are the #UWorld and #OME tagged questions also contained in the #AK Step 2 v4? Do you recommend doing the #UWorld tagged questions as well for Step 2? Thanks!
No problem! Yes those would generally all be under the step 2 v4 tag! I would follow my instructions in the video and try to make your own cards for Uworld questions that you get incorrect as sometimes doing the tagged uworld questions can spoil the answers for when you do the Qbank! Good luck!
How many anki cards should I aim to do daily? Just started anki. Thank you so much for all the videos!
No problem! Glad I can help. Depends on what you’re using it for and when your exams are but I’d shoot for 100 new a day! Make sure to do all reviews daily
Your undergraduate research is subject ANAT, not BIOS. Do you recall why and how you enrolled in anatomy rather than biology research class? Did you reach out to an anatomy research professor to set it up?
Hey! Good question. I did research in an Alzheimer’s Disease lab. Our university just coded the credits under ANAT but any research lab that has good mentors and opportunities to publish would be good! Doesn’t have to be biology specifically. Best of luck!
its become a tradition for me to watch your video before the start of every rotation, great video as always. Love the tips
So flattering! Thank you and wish you all the best! Keep up the great work! 💪😎
Do you only do the BB cards? Since each resource has different cards?
Nah, I do BB, Pathoma and sketchy but I tried to not do cards that overlapped from BB and Pathoma! Hope this helps!
Thanks for the video. When using the postpone cards add on did you change the interval coefficient to 0.0 like I’ve seen other people suggest or did you leave it the way it was?
No problem! I did not change the coefficient I just postponed by 1 day here and there but ultimately tried to do my cards daily as prescribed! Haha best of luck!
Could you please which interval we should set in our decks or card??
Check out my video on best Anki Settings! Normally I don’t modify the interval at all.
Hi austin, how many cards do you recommend to unsuspend daily, does 100-150 new daily can be manageable with reviews? How many reviews you had daily?
Yes that sounds manageable! It would range from 150-200 a day but depends on how many reviews you do!
I mean i want to unsuspend daily 100-150 new cards,i think the reviews will be much higher daily
@siham2697 Hard to say, but if you’re unlocking 100-150 daily it will be front loaded each day until you can space out the cards. Reviews would be probably 300-400 and then you would have to do news after
Yay this is my favorite video!
