How does the difficulty of med school compare to dental school?
Great question! Both are challenging in different ways. As outlined in the video, you’re mainly in the classroom for the first two years of both medical school and dental school covering a lot of the general concepts and bookworm related to each field. The last two years are spent clinically but in medical school there is more oversight and less autonomy as you will be required to complete a 3-7 year residency depending on specialty. Whereas in dental school, there is more autonomy and responsibility for the treatment of your own patients as a D3 and D4 as you need to be ready to potential be a general dentist without any further training! My brother is first year pre dental at University of Pacific. Initially he wanted to be a Anesthesiologist. He got accepted to UC Berkeley but after talking to my dad’s cousins who are dentist, he decided to follow in their footsteps. As for me, I’m only a Freshman in high school. I want to study medicine and hope to be a pediatrician because I love kids.
