•~❉᯽❉~• Cottage Pie Recipe •~❉᯽❉~•
Preheat oven to 200°C (390°F).
Boil the potatoes until tender. Mash with milk, butter, grated cheese and black pepper.
Meanwhile, in a large pan, Sauté the onion, carrots, and garlic until softened add the minced beef and cook until browned. Add the tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, and beef stock. Stir to combine and add your vegetables (traditionally it's carrots and peas. I used green beans for my cottage pie because that is what I had on hand). Season with salt and pepper. Let simmer for 20 minutes.
Transfer the meat mixture to a baking dish. Spread the mashed potatoes on top. Bake in the oven for 20-25 minutes, until the top is golden and crispy.

Yes, it’s almost the same. Sheperd’s pie uses ground lamb and cottage pie uses ground beef. I think that’s the only difference between these two 😊

For proper Yorkshire puddings your batter should use plain flour, eggs and milk beaten with a whisk to the consistency of double cream and then rested for 20 minutes. You should use vegetable oil and get it sizzling hot in a 220c oven before you pour in the batter. Close the oven door and do not open it for 30 minutes. Then they should be well risen. An extra egg white can get them to rise even higher.
