Full session, just eddited for red flags, a couple of incidents captured, but other than that a trouble free session for the first time this year, slowly getting quicker, if there had been another session after this im sure it would have been a little further up the leaderboard.

Best lap of the day after fighting loads of issues all resulting in a car with minimal power. The irony as well being that the motor died on the very next lap (when i was nearly 3 seconds up on even this attempt), crank hub failure (common on N54). Still, it was fun to be out there and it made it through some sessions, will just be nice to get the problems sorted to enjoy it properly!! Bring on...

First time out in the car in over 3 years, loads of issues including constant cutting out, i fried the ECU because of it at the end of this session. Still....was good to be out there....even if it was only with 8psi.....

      @@samellio no and no, he was in a052s, im gonna say 265/295, i was on ar1s 275/315. Im currently looking in to all of the bushes on my car as at present (apart from the camber and toe arms) theyre all the 170k mile originals :P

      @@samellio cheers, garmin showed an ideal of 52.8 so was plenty even there….sounding quick and being quick are 2 different things :P i was just pleased that i could kick its head in for 15 minutes straight with minimal cooldown!

    Great video and knowledge 👌. I did the ebay 19t's on my 08 535i and on e40 mix tune on 19lbs and drove it daily before.i did open up and used turbolabsofamerica kit except my v3's had a better collar i think it was (one with oil cutouts) and also put new oem actuators and debured edges. 10k on them and i don't drive hard but will do a freway pull here n there and play with others when given the chance. Installing lsd tomorrow and hoping to track friday. Its plenty fast on the freway and hope to make the deadline and see what it does in a straight line.

    I had codes hinting to replace rhe camtrays and seals. When i setup everything to start the repairs my timing was the same as yours, it was a little off but always started and idled with no issues. I then proceeded to make the repairs and set the timing with the lock pin and alignment tools. Now that everything is reinstalled i get no start and the code 2A9A with an occasional 2A9B. I have swapped all the sensors, checked all wires and connectors with no difference. I have since removed the cover and inspected the timing again and everything still lines up perfectly when i install the timing tool. Any idea what it could be?

      ​@@Mh-ot1dshonestly been on the back burner for the winter. I'm trying to get back into it now that it's warm out. I have checked the timing 3 times before I threw in the towel but I am going to try and set it up like it was originally and hopefully it'll run like normal. I am getting sputtering and it running like crap for about 30 seconds before it dies. No codes or anything. It is leaving alot of soot on my plugs.

      @@Mh-ot1ds no codes pop up for you either? I may do the old fashion way of finding TDC and stick something like a ziptie or a straw in cylinder 1 spark plug hole I'm wondering if I'm off a tooth or 2 and it's not able to adjust the VANOS to compensate

    I have been told to NEVER remap your CLA180 1.6. It can damage other parts due to the added power. Just service the Car and if you need more power, buy a faster Car. It will be better in the long run... because last thing you want to do is pay more to Fix problems.

    i can't beleive that stage thing cought on lol probably fried their brain doing too much racing games. every car is different and needs to be tuned to each preference and whatever goal/purpose. there is no universal "stage" noobs. i hope u learn watching this video.

    Once the lock pin is in the crank shouldn’t move up or down right , my lock pin is in and I can’t move the crank up or down but it does have small play .. is that fine or it has to be rock solid to the point where it should even move at all? Great video by the way

      Thats normal, the hole is oval on the flexplate/flywheel to allow a little movement

    I have a question I can’t get answers to because I can’t get logged in to Bimmerpost or e90post. I have a 08 N54 and my serpentine belt shredded. Nothing went into the crankcase after doing a thorough inspection. I was having a 2a87 and 3100 thrown so I got two new vanos solenoids because everything was pointing to bad solenoids. After replacing them with OEM certified solenoids and the proper oil with new filter I fired up the car and it went from 2a87 to 2a99. It starts up fine but idles really rough. 3100 is still present because of limp mode. I’ve replaced serpentine, vanos solenoids, oil filter housing gasket and cooler gasket, upper radiator hose, the “Mickey mouse” coolant hose flange, intake manifold gaskets, the oil change and filter, coolant bleed/flush/change. Could it be the vanos filters or a blockage somewhere causing the code? Any help or info at all would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi love the vid. I have a question. I have a N54 that stop running when it was just ticking over. Long story short my crank bolt came out. So before I throw loads of money at it I want to try to time the car myself. Question is can I undo the camshaft bolts 1st then replace the crankshaft bolt to turn the engine over to find top dead centre without the top half moving? I’m hoping she only slip a little bit before the engine stop.

      If this is any help Doe, my boy told me stage1 is when the alterations carried out by the remap fall within the manufacturers limits I.e the car is only built to hold a certain amount of torque so the remap will improve ur torque within those limits, along with other things Stage 2 is when you now need to look at upgrading ur clutch , flywheel etc - basically you are pushing your car beyond the limits set by the manufacturer and now have to consider buying aftermarket performance parts to keep the car running safely God knows what stage 3 is

      Simply put, Stage 1 is when no physical modifications are done, it's all ECU and Mapping. Stage 2 is when you start to upgrade things like intercoolers, turbos, exhausts etc on a stock engine. Stage 3 is when you make changes to the actual engine and no longer run the stock engine, be it an engine swap or modifications to the Pistons and engine displacement. I hope this helps

      I did have aftermarket brakes but in reality the stock ones with good pads would have held up very well i think.

    Hello, Running MHD Stage 2+ OTS map on 17T...what was you overall experience for the year. And would you recommend for a daily driver till able to purchase a full custom tune? Thanx

      I wouldnt be running it too hard with 17ts and an off the shelf map. Custom tune is the only way to go.

    how come when you give it full throttle the readout only reads 88%? dont mean to teach you how to suck eggs but you are clicking the throttle down fully right? theres a an extra bit of travel once you press the throttle fully it sort of clicks i guess its a safety feature with bmw, sorry if you knew this already

    two things, firstly recommending stock oem turbos is a terrible idea as they have the wastegate rattle problem and the second you wind them up they go out of their efficiency range and wear out very quickly, you can get stage 1 or just an upgraded oem turbo which holds the same power as stock but stronger wastegate and better reliability and cost just about the same as oem. second you are partly correct about single turbos in the uk as im uk based myself but there are company's that do offer them like leadfoot racing do a drive in drive out and walton motorsport do a rhd single turbo kit, plus all the company's in australia selling single turbo kits. other than that spot on info and great video buddy

      I just meant from a driveability perspective, as they have instant power. Rhd kits will hopefully start to become more commonplace in future. 👍

      @@listerofsmeg80 i totally agree but the stock oem turbos themselves arent good when you throw some boost at them in terms of longevity, id highly recommend basically a pimped out stock turbo with billet parts as the stockers are great up to 500 wheel with a cheeky ethanol blend, and everything is pretty simple below 500 wheel in terms of what you need hell even oem turbos will push that figure out but will last a few weeks lol

      @@88budz the stock turbos are very reliable. That's why you see people running 22-24psi peak on them. I have run high boost on high mileage stocks for years. The abuse they take is crazy and far beyond what you will see aftermarket twins doing. If you keep them below 21 psi peak with FBO they will run all day long and wategate rattle wont come I until 60-70k. They are a great option for anyone who wants to maintain stock spool characteristics, keep within a decent budget and shoot for 450hp.
