Elitism in Heavy Metal - Beneficial or Detrimental??
Where is mark of the beast
You cant have top 5 with out Megadeth...
Good job on the channel. These are great album choices. It looks like I have my homework set out for me.
I’m looking for more concept albums like Operation:Mindcrime and even Hitman, Destroy All Humans. Do you have any suggestions?
Hello iron horde , I'm listening all albums in vinyls of Manilla Road , my selection is different but it's no important because all albums are excellent 👌 just I put more high Atlantis Rising because is resurrection for the band . Thanks you for video . 🤘
I would describe USPM as a blend of Priest/Maiden on steroids.
Into Glory Ride by Manowar will always be the first and greatest power metal album ever.
You sound exactly like the midget from Twin Peaks, which is more than enough reason to share my list. Best to…less best. The Deluge Voyager Gates of Fire Out of the Abyss Atlantis Rising Mystification Mysterium Crystal Logic The Courts of Chaos Open the Gates Spiral Castle Playground of the Damned The Blessed Curse The remainder is a toss up.
The more I listen to this album, the more I love it. Might be my favorite Priest album.
Are u selling all your lps??
AC/DC and Metallica are indeed overrated, but I like the rest (except for Slayer that I never listened to).
For a moment I thought the shitty stock music was MR! What a relief.
Congratulations for the video. A correction though. Lust was released in 1988
Good to see this channel is still active! Many great album recommendations contained in your videos!
Cheers for the kind words bud! Unfortunately time is not on my side with regards to preparing videos but I'm still here and don't exclude uploading new videos in the coming weeks.
please tell me this show was filmed, it sounds like it could've been amazing
It was both filmed and audio recorded professionally. All will be released in due time. Stay tuned 😉
Hi, thanks for the amazingly thorough overview! We are looking for a video of a Spanish metal band filmed in Barcelona in the late 1980s. The names of the band and song completely elude us. It features a redhead girl walking on a roof with a dog; she comes out of a bathtub transformed into a rocker chick; and is with the band in a limo. Any ideas, feeling nostalgic, can you help, please? One of us is in the video ... Many thanks, M & C
Fully agree that this is their best album. I also really like After The Fall. Musically, top epic doom. They also had an interesting collaboration with one of my personal favorites in this niche, Leo Stivala sang as a guest on the amazing album of my native Monasterium (the song in which he appeared was great, the dialogue/duet between him and the band's vocalist is a completely different level) . Epic doom fits perfectly into these types of lyrics and topics. It is one of the few types of heavier music that approaches Christian motifs in a non-infantile way and fits them artistically. Anyone who claims otherwise has probably never had contact with classic Catholic (or Orthodox, because Protestants are a no-fun club) art. With this healthy dose of religious macabre and darkness, mixed with grandious splendor and (that's right) epic plots. Hail from Poland!
Love Monasterium. We had them playing at the Malta Doom Metal fest a number of years ago! That track with Leo was a very good one indeed!
William J. Tsamis mentioned = like Good list. Hail from Poland!
This lack of attention to Mediterranean bands is really irritating, because Greece and Italy have the best underground in Europe (although Finland is close). I'm a fan of epic metal sounds and I love Hellenic riffs. The Greek scene is one of the best things that has happened to the metal underground in recent years. With bands like Black Sword Thunder Attack or Agatus' The Eternalist album... It always annoyed me that Crush with their Kingdom Of The Kings didn't get the attention it deserved. Hail from Poland!
I have theory, that if you are a fan of this so called "epic heavy" niche or USPM bands, you can't dislike bands like Ashbury (or this vein of hard rock/proto-metal in general.). Great album. My fav is The Warning. Hail from Poland!
7:32 but the same thing happens with Iron Maiden.
Great video, what was interesting to me was hearing someone who lived when the 2000s albums were released, a veteran. I was born in 1994 so I wasn't here during Iron Maiden's golden age, so, when I discovered them in 2008. I listened to them from other perspective, for example, I'll rank factor X higher than virtual XI and no prayer. call me nuts, but it has sign of the cross, man of the edge, 2 AM, lord of the flies and fortunes or war. Great songs for me. I'll put A matter of life and death high up, probably just beneath the 80s stuff, I loved the lyrics, especially in songs like Brighter than a thousand suns with all the stuff about the morality in creating the atomic bomb, and in other songs like these colors don't run, the longest day, the legacy and for the greater good of god. Masterpiece for me. I'll put Seventh Son and somewhere in time before killers, but in the rest I agree.
I'm a DT fan but I couldn't agree more with yours words, I feel their first record reminiscent to Fates Warning's style. Even If Images and Words & Awake are masterpieces for me, DT definitely went downhill from there, specially during the 2000s and 2010s era. On the other hand, Fates Warning is quite skipped when it comes to Prog Metal fans, I can't understand why. Specter Within and Awaken the Guardian are diamonds. Mike Portnoy reveres Fates Warning as the true pioneers of Prog Metal. As for Metallica, what can I say? I find bothering when they write lame music and the media and the fans try to justify it. When they say that that one song on St Anger or Reload was overlooked but it has some innovative shit just puts me on the nerves, I tell you brother. No other band is pampered like them, if another band writes a bad song, we say it's bad and that the end of the discussion. I'd put Rammstein on the list, I used to listen to them. They came to Mexico in 2022 and bro, never in my life I've seen a more overrating band than them. Members were nice and the show was good, but their fans were really annoying, acting as if Rammstein was the only band on the planet, you had me hearing that they were top notch musicians and geniuses and honestly, their music is rather simple and plain, I dare to say, repetitive and sometimes they appear to be more that they really are. Without the videos the music is nothing impressive to me. I tried to dig beyond the hits, thinking I would find some interesting stuff but I ended up so disappointed and burned that I haven't listened to them again. Even I tried to show my friends some similar stuff like Eisbrecher and they just wrinkled their noses and said they really didn't like metal at all. But they had the balls to proclaim Rammstein the best band of the planet. The worst thing: many people in the concert just knew two or three songs.
1. Trust 2.Sortilege 3.Adx 4.malediction 5.killers 6.high power
Bravo, Mirrpa von Kroatien, OnlyGC, frei Europa
Thundersteel is an incredible album a pure masterpeace from start to finish. Bloodstreets, Sign of the Crimson Storm, tittle track, Flight of the Warrior, Fight or Fall yeah i could literally mention every track, its that good! And not just Thundersteel but literally every album Riot has released. One of my favorite bands of all time!
Dude, you left out the greatest power metal band from the states, manowar!!!
This is a different movement which was prevalent around the late 80s. Manowar obviously came much earlier and were an influence on these bands.
@@IronHordeMetalTalk ok just making sure the best 🇺🇸 has to offer was recognized
Just discovered your videos, it is awesome
Glad you like them!
Thanks for reviewing the Trilogy album ( too briefly), they were a band of virtuoso players and great band live, Jon Ryder was never in Rose Tattoo, that was the great guitarist John Meyer who was in the forerunner band of Trilogy ,- Saracen who later brought out their own album with Jon Ryder also on vocals and bass. Jamie Page( guitar)joined Trilogy in 83 after the Black Alice split up( and John Meyer quit Saracen). Perth metal scene is very inbred haha. Page was also after in Black Steel another Perth (speed) metal band , and Alligiance were major contenders in late 80s 90s of simillar style.. "Endangered Species" is as good as any AC/DC album after "Back in Black" and Saracen/ Trilogy shouldve been huge but Perth is so isolated and often overlooked. Glad you mentioned Nothing Sacred too, they were a phanomenal live band, the 4 track ep from about 85 is more indicative of their talent. Fair Warning a Melb band i loved when i saw them play there in '85. Cheers, thanks for your work. P.s Metal for Melb was for several years before called Central Station Records and a major heavy metal record shop and other HM paraphernalia for sale.
leafhound is very overrateed dust's 1st lp is better than the 2nd
Great picks Demon, Cirith Ungol just discovered a month before, for me too Jerry Foogle is quite a discovery
Great review
1st Warning best
Coup de meeetaaalll
Overrated Metal Overrated Rock 1. In Flames 1. Bon Jovi 2. Pantera 2. Bring Me the Horizon 3. Morbid Angel 3. Seether 4. Iced Earth 4. Guns N Roses 5. Anthrax 5. Sex Pistols
Pantera dude? No way.
I have only frequented half or less of these albums so far (with much exploring their work ahead in the future), but I do know we have the same #1.
At The Gates …boring Queensryche…annoying Behemoth…nothing special In Flames - yawn Dismember - no rawness in their music Testament - Overkill are better Diamond Head - Raven were the better band KISS - take away the make up and what have you got Dokken - they had wrong singer in the 80’s System of a Down - definitely not Limp Biskit - definitely not again
Testament is far better than overkill
Running Wild is the best.
Tous ses albums sont des grands classiques du heavy français 🇲🇫 des années 80.
That was a great list! A couple of bands I didn’t know. Good variety too with Voivod, Helix, Sacred Blade.
Glad you enjoyed!
Open the Gates Mystification The Deluge Crystal Logic Atlantis Rising The Courts of Chaos Spiral Castle Out of the Abbys Mark of the Beast (dies erst 20 Jahre später veröffentlichte Album , kann man noch gerade hinzunehmen!!!) Liebe Grüße an alle 😂❤❤😂 " Rabe666 "
Solid video, it can often be a conundrum when liking a specific bands/artists music and disagreeing with their politics or personal character. The good news for me generally is a lot of the bands with major controversy are not ones that i listen to that much anyway. But, you do have to kind of separate the art from the artist but its all dependent on the individual and what their limits are.
Savatage gotta be one of my top picks personally
The Italian metal bands may have been marketed as American bands because the Italian -Americans could have bought the lps
This was a great review - helped me to get almost all of it, still have a few missing links here but hoping to close it soon.
@Iron Horde -have you covered any Southern Euro Metal so far ? In the vein of - Ravensire, Doomsword, Domine, Ironsword, Dark Quarterer, Bulldozer. That would be great to know - personally I feel this area is very unique and deserves some exclusivity :)
Russian/ Belarusian Metal from the 80s ?
I feel as though U.S. Power Metal is... just HEAVY METAL.
Videos that recommend Warlord (or Lordian Guard/Lordian Wind) are given a like by default. The USPM scene, along with the somewhat vaguely defined realm of epic heavy and the epic doom metal scene, are the quintessence of metal for me. Since the three entities are actually inseparable, I'm not going to play hard drawing lines between epic heavy and uspm. Of my favorite bands in this niche that weren't in the video, I especially recommend Fates Warning's second and third albums, Lords Of The Crimson Alliance's only album, Manilla Road, Lordian Guard, Cauldron Born's first and second albums, Chastain, Medieval Steel, Heathen's Rage, the Crystal Vision album from Sacred Oath and the Italian but close to this style album Irae Melanox from Adramelch (later albums can be skipped without regret). Hail from Poland!
All great names indeed. Love all of them.
Heard this album for the first time yesterday. It's amazing.
Yep... The Ninth Wave is something else!
