How to everything bike, quad, or toy. From oil changes to tire studs all the way to engine replace or rebuilds it's easy and done here and you can too. Easy step by step and everything you need to use and know to get the job done yourself. Enjoy and have fun.
VMax Clutch
VMax clutch, a quick look into what is on the bike. Hard neutral, not so smooth no movement shift with elusive neutral. Release after warm up is almost all the way out. Double D mod? Nope, but lets have a look.

Stop saying uhhhhhh in ur videos!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great video, i'm down east in Nova Scotia I have a 2018 DRZ400S, I do a lot of riding has 31000 kms on it now, I'm getting a lot of deceleration pops when I let the throttle go but none in acceleration and It stalls every week or so once then takes a few min to start again but will run fine in between, starts up real easy, I am going to check the clearances and take the carb off and clean it, I use an NGK iridium spark plug and only use supreme fuel.
Fantastic video, How much do you charge, I want to get done on mine? Thank you so much for assisting me
Great tutorial! Enjoyed that!
Did you drain and refil oil before and after process?
I can't remember but I don't think I did
Not the proper way to rebuilt a carburetor. if you have to do what this dude is doing, you should pay a professional. You always, take down completely soak in Carburetor cleaner for a hours or so, depending how dirty it is. The reassemble to factory specks, using the factory service manual.
Bad place for wire routing. Long term, the vibration could chafe the insulation and short the wire.
years later still no issues and no chafing, but yes you are right it could.
Try an MT-21 on the front next time you need a new front tire. They are more predictable than the front D606 in dirt and gravel.
sorry sold this bike years ago, but I did switch over to a michelin front and back and did find them better than the D606. On the duel sport Husqvarna I run dirt tires as it just doesn't see the streets.
God your intro is so annoying. You skip important parts but dilly dally on unimportant parts.
What year model is that
so what your saying you stuttering morron is your a magician and its such a pain in the ass to do this your better off selling the bike and getting another 1 what a butcher
And you got it for how cheap? You never say?
Brakes seized driving to work today, my fault no fluid. This video will really help. 👍
7:54 where do I buy that part and what’s it called? I have a drz250 are they much different to the 400s?
Do you still have the sissy bar from your vmax? Would you be willing to sell to another vmax rider for my luck lady so she don't slip off?
I'm really thinking about doing drz400 on my LTZ400 atv quad.... Just trying to figure out that kick starter situation in the quad.... Spacing etc , anyone have an idea?!
I'm just getting mine in next week (93 japanese import) and probably in a similar condition. Your videos look like a great addition to the whole documentation I already have ! Thank you Sir and Hello from France !
Instead of the DD I just fitted a heavy duty spring. That clears up any slight slipping.
any pics or part numbers, I am interested.
@@motomaddness4837 Check with Sean Morley from morleys muscle he can provide, he is the erudite of vmax. the HD diaphragm looks the same is just 20 to 30 % stronger, you remove the half clutch friction , remove the concave ring and the wire and install a full friction and the HD Diaphragm.
where do you get the heavy duty spring from ?
I have one , a full power 1991 import and it is very reliable, needs little maintenance and goes well. BTW it handles at speed and I have no front end wobble at any speed at all ! R.
I have a kick starter on my australian 2012 DRZ-400E model, the battery seems to charge up when I ride the bike, but after sitting for awhile like a few days to a week or so it gets flat fast, all I gotta do is kick it over with the ignition turned on, and it fires right up, even when it can't start up with the e start button, love it best mod to have on any dirt or trial bike.
agree
Your 'B" role music is blaring. I am constantly adjusting the volume. Just an FYI. Thanks for the video otherwise.
SO SICK OF THESE VIDEOS THIS IS THE MOST POINTLESS WASTE OF MONEY AND TIME YOU DO KNOW YOU CAN ROLL START IT IN LESS THAN 10FT MAKING THIS COMPLETELY POINTLESS
yes you can absolutely do that, thanks for watching 😀
I was hoping this bike did NOT have the bucket/shim style valves.
I feel that they are a better system and not quite daunting once you have done it a few times.
The DR 650 has rocker arms with screw adjusters.
did you suppose to bend washer around nut for clutch basked ?
if it was supposed to be, it was done, if it is the lock washer you are referring to then yes 🙂
Is there any way you can do a video putting a drz125 kit on a dr200se 😁😁
if I had a DR200se, maybe.
I am trying to install the same stator in my DRZ. The problem is that the wire harnesses are too long, making it impossible to jam the excess wiring below the coil pack. I'm probably going to return it.
Im in the same boat. I didn’t have the stator wires totally under the stator. Now i have to repair the wires. I just might be able to shorten them
My bike wont rev up since fitting a new stator and pick up. Any ideas please?
I am unsure why it wouldn't rev, may have an other issue, have you checked the charging volts at the battery under idle? and if you pull the choke out do you get higher rpms ?
@@motomaddness4837 No real change with choke. Well it very soon don't need it. I changed carb too. Maby its this Pair valve. The engine came from my other bike which didn't have 1. ECU swap didn't make it rev up either. Its a new plug too((
@@jimmymcjimmyvich9052 have you checked the vacuum lines? also the needle thigh, I would eliminate the carb first as the potential problem
@@motomaddness4837 I have not done anything with vaccum lines. It is a swapped engine. The previous bike had no valve for vaccum attached to the engine. But somehow this has one of those valves. Done my best to utilise it. Maby you are on the prob)) I will check this out. Thanks
@@jimmymcjimmyvich9052did you figure it out? What was the issue? I'm battling the same problem. Will rev some but not right.
So when you flush it out like that can you get clean fluid in it you have to pump your brakes up and bleed them correct
correct
It looks so scary so much to do.
Can you run both kick and electric Start ??
yes of course 😀
Looks like you also had the free power mod done already? Or is that red power wire something else
I'm sorry that you don't know how to clean Vmax carburetors. Actually, better could have been done without ever taking the carbs off than what you did. Then, you had the float open and you never cleaned the pilot jet which is the one smallest orifice in the whole carburetor that gums up very easily. Taking the float cover off and diddling the float is funny nonsense.
did you lose the bushing that goes inside the starter gear cluster?
Where are you at? I live in Fort Wayne, Indiana USA. I love you videos. I have a 94 VMAX. My bike is sitting 100% disassemble. It will take me a lot of time to get it together. Blew up the motor. Let's take it a long time and do it right.
small town north alberta canada and thank you
07 vmax here, nice videos & good narration! keep up the good work
Why didnt the factory put them on ?

Watching this video was like watching a butterfly fluttering around on my screen for the 15 minutes I could stand watching.
Is it me or does he say ahh way to much!!!!
You from Wisconsin?
nope, northren Alberta Canada
I live in Edmonton. Looking to do the same project in the spring. I subscribe looking forward to your next videos on this bike.
there will be more coming soon
If you install such a kit on the drz400s, is it possible not to install a decompressor?
yes the only ones that have the decompressor is the E model, mine did not have it and I omitted it from the install.
19:20 What is this "filament" you keep mentioning?
filament is the the fit of the product
@@motomaddness4837 that would be “fitment” not “filament”
Awesome. How many turns out in carbs? Talking about Air fuel mixture screw
the turns out is about 2 1/4, however this is not for everyone, altitude plays a vital role as well as jets that you are running, an old timer once told me when I had issues with a holly 650 DP, 'carbs like what they like and you have to play with it to get it right, once you find the sweet spot its just small tweeks to make it run perfect' Same with a bike carb. What works here are 1200ft will not be right at 2200ft above sea level.
Great video, the boy sounds like a normal human being, just doing what we amateurs do at home, just bits at a time learning as we go along, it will be good to see more of the bikes progress, keep up the good work.
Should turn the music up louder, I could almost hear you.
Bucket and shims. No thanks
Great video on this. It would have helped me on my kick install three years ago. I bought a DRZ that had a Rekluse Clutch which precludes bump starting. After a close call due to a weak battery, I installed a kick starter, which has come in handy a couple of times most recently on an adventure ride in Western Montana. We had been bouncing around the fire roads and stopped for a photo op. When I hit the starter button- NOTHING!! Realizing that the battery wasn't charging meant heading back to civilization ASAP. I managed to kick start the bike and headed out for our lunch destination 18 miles away. When I got there I measured my battery at 8.6 Volts. It turned out to be a bad stator. I am waiting for that part to be delivered this week.
Video sucks you skipped every important part
great video. those carbs looks pretty good. thanks
