Hey what brand of machine is that I would like to buy one? Thank you
Great to see you using your META glasss; I think the POV is well suited to your instructional style 👍
whats the size of the washer??
Awesome job sir. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🔪
I was just going to ask what belt that was. Great video as usual!
I know you’ve been doing this for a long time. But, man you make it look easy! Great job! You’re my hero! 🦸🏻♂️
Another excellent view into the great work you do. I'm working on 7+ blades I hope to drop off in late February...if this cold holds off😂
This would have been a lot better without music.
I totally agree with everything you said about the TSPROF KO3. I moved up to the same model about six months ago. As I’m currently setting up a very small knife sharpening gig I am gathering a few 1x30 sanders and learning to use them. I spend 45 minutes to an hour per knife on my KO3. Can’t make money spending that much time per knife. However, as you said, I will use it on high end pocket knives and my own knife collection. I will charge more for that high end service. As a side note, I have the same Harbor Freight wood working bench. I bought it for reloading. I had to cut the length down to fit in my little shop. But it’s really handy.
That looks to be very well built! I think even with that set up, it still would not clear the Dalstrong Vahalla 7" fillet knife. Looking for a solution for that particular knife with this type of sharpener!
Thank you for investing your time in these videos, they have been extremely helpful.
Great video! I have a 3 hp dust collector for woodworking. Could I use that to collect the fumes, or do you recommend a dedicated unit specific for that task?
No do not do that - The very best thing to do with your laser is vent it to the outside world. If you can't do that then you need an air cleaner thats made for lasers but I find those are best for events or people with zero options to vent outside world. The #1 option bar far is vent to outside air and I am a big fan of adding a inline fan to that vent. I have an older video on mu old shop on this topic. check out this video th-cam.com/video/n9HMvribhzU/w-d-xo.htmlsi=7aiTLVoo-eideLAM And in the bottom of my products page I have all the laser venting links and fans and more of things I use www.alexandriaknifesharpening.com/sharpening
Finally stopped the tease! :) Where do I pick up those jigs you used to hold the knife? also, is there a jig to hold your business cards? Thanx Paul!!! Edit for more questions: Looks like it comes with the lightburn software? Does it come with a license for it too or is it the trial version?
amzn.to/40x182y This is the holder I used
I get all my jigs from Sam at Samcraft he awesome he has them for xTool and Commarker samcraft.shop/?srsltid=AfmBOopDTGx1CdWDdco39n2MBYnFXwbyrX6cbDDWxuNR2i1jc3Yi12R3
I have been sharpening for 30 years. I only figured this out 3 years ago.
I love mine. It as so cool and the belts selection is endless. Comes with the wheel and platen…… This was on sale from AliExpress and it was $189 Black Friday.
And the horizontal option makes it great for finish works
Being very new to this, and watching many videos, what would leaving the protective film on the plexiglass do? Or, if you buy bigger sheets and make your own shapes, some plexiglass comes with a paper like protective covering. Just wondered if anyone has done any experimenting by leaving the protive film in place until after the engraving was done. I have some thoughts on what could potentially happen but don't want to skew someone else's thought process. TIA
it burns and smells bad that is the plastic the paper you can cut with it on
So, let me get this right, if I use the acrylic with the paper on it I don't have to do anything special, just run on the paper...no black paint or anything?
😯😯😯 👏👏👏 Super Sache 👍👍👍 Muss ich unbedingt ausprobieren 🙏🙏🙏
I can't wait to buy a 1700RPM grinder with 80 grit CBN and the Woodturners Wonders slick stick for coolant. Then we're in business.
Is it difficult to learn how to use a fiber laser
That was one of my concerns when I got my first one but its actually pretty easy. Lasers in general are not hard to use.
Thank you for all the fantastic information that you provide on laser engraving. Paul, do you mind me asking a very specific question, have you tried engraving/cutting copper? I'm looking for a machine that can remove 1.3mils copper sheeting to make electronic circuit boards.
I have some very thin metal that I got to test cutting with my F1 Ultra that I have not done yet. I had a person who makes model cars ask because he stacks them to make parts. My strongest laser is 20 Watts and it can cut thin metal but we are talking very thin. He is a link for ComMarker comparison units scroll down one category is cutting and that will help you see what units will handle cutting metal the B6 Mopa can cut 2mm but they have some that can cut all the way up to 5mm I would check to see the specific metal type too as they vary between metals here is the link to that page commarker.com/compare-machine/?ref=alxsharpen
@@ALXSHARPEN thanks, i've reached out to their customer support.
How much did you charge for the machete?
@@suorento7k to sharpen them I charge $20 normally if heavy chipped $25 this was about $30 each in the end
Thanks, very informative. Would be nice to followup with the owner just to check the resin performance (longevity).
I’ve been using this process for almost three years, and I’ve seen numerous knives I’ve repaired return for sharpening with the repairs still holding strong. In fact, I haven’t had a single customer report a repair failure to date. Sometimes, I’ll see a knife and admire the quality of the repair, thinking someone else did it, only to realize it was my own work from years ago! When I check my records and see they first came in for a repair and sharpening back then, it’s always a gratifying moment."
@ALXSHARPEN thank you very much. I have a few knives needing a new handle and I was thinking of making it from wood. Perhaps resin is a good option. Thanks. 😎👍
Great quick overview! Great explanation of this topic which I don't think gets a lot of focus/deeper dives. The balance of grit, sharpness, and steel type (like titanium where the burr is super rigid and doesn't want to pull off with felt or leather, like I found out today). Different metals finish better at different grit levels. Big topic, I'd love to see more on this!
How long do you sbn wheels last? And have you used the ones from sliphaven?
Man your videos have me wanting to get a laser engraver now lol. I think it's great too you pointed out the difference between the blue diode laser and other.
Thanks I learned it the hard way my first machine was a dual laser and I hated all the changing of things to do different jobs but at the time nothing like this ComMarker existed. It's really great today we have many great lasers and this is just the tip of the iceberg with ComMarker they have some really cool machines I hope to get the opportunity to check out one of their UV laser in the future they can engrave on things most lasers cant like PCV but for knife engravings this machine is fantastic.
I'm strongly considering buying a fibre laser and making a jig just to engrave my knives with serial numbers. When I had my 20w diode laser I got very good at using and creating on lightburn so I'm all set up and ready to go. Just need for them to become a bit cheaper. But you're 100% right. I'd used to groan at having to set up everything for different shapes and objects. Ended up selling it (for a really good price). Haven't missed it but I'd love a nice strong fizzing fibre for metal engraving.
@@iSharpen agree for knife makers this is so much better than etching a knife and the they have come down in price and far up in ability and speed plus you can make you makers mark any size. My laser engraving has grown a lot in the last year and it’s all local businesses I sell nothing on Etsy or any of that stuff the local market for personalized gifts is huge. I just figured in the beginning it would be just knives but it’s turned out to be many cool fun jobs
@@ALXSHARPEN It's 100% you who's turned my eye onto affordable fibre lasers again. The last time I looked they were $50,000-$7,000 in my currency. The fact that you're so busy and get such a variety of work makes me curious as to your marketing methods and local population. I'm operating at only about 1/3-1/2 capacity. Working from home is so cool but I would enjoy more work. I want to have jobs on my bench all the time. The upside is that I can always do "same day sharpening" which many people are shocked at. Most of the sharpeners around here are mobile with minimum quantities and large wait times. One company has a 3 week sharpening time. I wonder if I should approach them to sub contract their sharpening. They use a T4 - poor things. I'm planning a total refit and reconfigure of my workshop (if I can get some help) soon and would love to have a lasering corner.
A dedicated tool is always better. If it's not towards a singular goal there will be compromises.
Thank you for the help!

I bought the Vevor 1x30 direct from their site because I had purchased other Vevor products before. Mine order has shipped. Thanks
Hey Alex I think I was the one to turn you on to that vevor after you were good enough let me email you the ones I was looking at on Amazon … funny thing is I couldn’t find it on there website when I looked but did on eBay which was cheaper than Amazon
@@buckstopshere7305 you may have been someone ask me if it was the same so I purchased one to find out but they are already driving the price down of the higher priced sellers some have dropped their prices. Their website is not easy to navigate then add to the fact they have 20,000 products the search on it is not good for finding things but it’s getting better every day when I first went to it all the languages were mixed up then the other day they got it fixed I was shocked to see they even have lasers they told me they don’t keep a large inventory or the expensive items so probably won’t ever get one to test . The sweet spot for them seems to be products in the $200-300 range but I did see they had a 100 watt fiber laser for a good price but if I was spending that kind of money I’m not getting one from a relatively unknown company in the laser market. I can see how their model works for them but on the really expensive items like they’re 100 W Galvão fiber, laser that was $5000. I bet they sit around for a long time before they sell.
I wish Vevor would start shipping these to the UK.
Viva la Vevor🎉 LOL
I had been looking into one of these 1x30's for awhile. Your video put me over the top. I got mine around the first of the year and it meets all my expectations. I also got the $188 deal. With tax and fee's I was delivered to me at $205. It's a very cool tool.
Congrats on the 14K subscriber milestone. The Vevor circular saw sharpener would be something interesting to review. If it is something you don't already offer, it might be worth a check. With youtube search, having titles and descriptions that are keyword rich makes life so much easier. I watch youtube on my desktop computer so accessing the channel search function is straight forward for me.
I get a lot from your videos and really appreciate your efforts. I'm thinking about starting a business. I'm part of the reason VEVOR sold out. I got one, and quickly realized that I wanted at least one more. I was so pleased with the price. Mine was $188 I think, without a membership and, it was from Amazon. I also just got my Wen wheel replacement and bearings.
I bought my 1x30 because of your video..and paid 159.00 thanks brother
@@martinhc2007 wow that the best price I’ve heard so far
Actually just chopped off the spring on my angle guide and attached it with the giant square magnet like two hours ago. Thanks!
@@curtisw6303 simply and it works
I think you need to make a video for cellphone and computer navigation for your channel. There are people who love one or the other and I have both, but would never consider watching a TH-cam video on a phone. I'll spend hours a day on a computer, one with two 27" monitors or a laptop with a 17" monitor, but my Sister will use a 6 inch phone 16 hours a day and refuse to turn on a computer because she doesn't make it convenient to use.
I bought one of them as well. Originally was trying to get the Bucktool, low speed but it has been sold out for weeks. Loving the Vevor unit so far. Got mine for the $188 price you mentioned. Mine is non magnetic and I have made a new platen with threaded studs on the side that can accept the angle guide. So far it’s working great. Thanks for your videos. They have been very informative and helpful.
@@gfrances1 great to hear and thanks for the feedback $188 is a great price
@@gfrances1 I know it’s been sold out since Cliff showed it but i honestly feel Vevor/Toolcker is far more useful
I bought one right after watching your review. I had been on the fence but you pushed me right over! I just got my machine modified and got a package of belts and strops from Cliff. I literally just came in from my little shop after practicing on a handful of thrift store knives. I have to say, you and Cliff sure make it look easy! It’s gunna take some time to develop the muscle memory. I’ve got my TSPROF all figured out. Now I feel like I’m back in kindergarten! 😳
Well, I took the Vevor bait also. I was going to get one anyway, so no big deal. I also purchased the Wen wheel and the bearings. I am more satisfied with the stock wheel and tape solution though, so I am running that. I will replace the tensioner spring as there is too much "bounce" for my liking. I had much "tuning" to do as my unit was, sadly, assembled rather loosely. I use it in combination with my 1x30 Harbor Freight to get my edges ready for refined sharpening on a K03. Congrats on your subs, btw.
@@user-rf7kc4ev6t yeah unfortunately that’s how it goes some need nothing some need a little work to get just right- wait till you see wat I did in my video coming out soon to the stock wheel that has worked perfectly- for me fine tuning them is still part of the fun especially if the purchase price was acceptable
I tightened the wobble on my WEN wheel by adding a washer on each side of it and that took up all the extra length on the shaft. Adjusting the tracking is very touchy! 🤬
mine doesn't need big adjustment when adjusting tracking some may be turning it to much .Thats the only difference I have seen in my Toolcker and my Vevor is my Toolcker has a stiffer spring
@@ALXSHARPEN I took about 90% of the bounce out with a higher compression spring and reduced the sensitivity of the wheel adjuster with a higher compression spring as well. I have also replaced the mount bolts through the frame to now go through and added lock nuts. Eventually I will upgrade all fasteners to ensure less potential for loosening due to vibration. I like the machine well enough to invest a few dollars more to stabilize it.
New subscriber love your channel. I just go t my vevor 1x30 sander and am in the process of getting it tuned up. As the platen goes I stopped at a local welder and asked if he had a piece of scrap 1 inch x 1/4 flat bar and he even cut to the 4 inch as needed. Was easy to polish up with the vevor . Used a m5 tap for treads worked great.
@@rickappleby1043 that’s the way to do it brother -nice
Do you know if the VFD with the toolcker or vevor 1x30 is compatible with the grizzly 2x42 motor?
Thanks for another very informative video. I would like to know what type of grinder machine the CBN Wheels are attached to? Thanks in advance for any information that you can provide.
th-cam.com/video/wbGDNmtkdxM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Cc4DqUPgvwo1BAqi I agree, it is a neat design. The dremel screwdriver however is a beast, a bit cheaper, and made in Illinois. Make America great again! 👍
THANK YOU 😊
Just picked mine up! Great looking tool! Does anyone else's vibrate? I took the belts off and it seems to come from the drive wheel. Is that normal?
