  • Welcome to the first part of this exciting journey as I unleash the sharpening potential of the Grizzly 2x42 Knife Maker Belt Sander Grinder! In this video, I'll be showcasing the process of welding a custom angle guide that will enhance the machine's functionality and precision. (Just for the record I have zero welding experience- LOL) Watch as I work through the build, I'll also tackle and resolve various challenges that arise along the way to ensure this machine becomes an indispensable tool in my shop. Don’t miss out on this transformation-be sure to come back tomorrow for Part 2, where we’ll dive deeper into the setup and performance optimization!

Can't say I'm a welder but I think the hammer is for like a slag that forms over the weld that you chip off as generally they are referred to as a chipping hammer and then you brush it to clean it and can grind / sand it to make it smooth.

    Great video!
I see a bunch of guys have replaced the hinge pin on the tracking wheel with a cut-off drill bit to improve the fit and snug it up, I'm looking forward to seeing how you end up using this machine.

Interesting! Maybe the aftermarket will address this if the grinder proves to be popular enough.

Good luck! I'm not a welder either, so I'd have to drill a couple 1/4 holes, counter sink the heads, bolt the back and then JB weld and ginr the edge next to the belt. btw, I am impressed by your welding skills!

    Two things:
    1) If that platen is galvanized, be careful. Google Zinc fumes. Big deal for new blacksmiths.
    2) In general a motor that is VFD controlled can go both ways, motors are pretty simple. If you have another VFD available, give it a try. Free and will probably work.

The parts look zinc quoted. Are they safe to weld?
