Jason Sneed and Mark Patey give an update on Ambush and Deception, after the release of Scrappy.

Ambush and deception are 300 plus horsepower Carbon Cubs that have been slowly being built in the same hangar as Scrappy. Mark and I are really after a lightweight Carbon Cub with a big engine and slightly bigger wing.
Flying Cowboy Jason Sneed Landing a Cubcrafters Carbon Cub at a Slot Canyon in Arizona
มุมมอง 10K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Recently we have been looking for good slot canyons to hike, found a nice on with a nice landing spot. Hiking is fun but getting to the trailhead via airplane makes it so much better. I usually don't leave all the radio chatter in the videos, but thought I would leave it this time. Please give me a like and share the video! Leave me a comment on if you like the radio chatter.

Please like the video if you enjoyed it so other can see it. I have another video almost done from a recent off airport fight and hike into a slot canyon.

Mark and I fly across the county in the Lancair while Mike takes the sardine can to visit Lycoming. While there we got to see one engine being built and the other running on the test stand. These engines will be installed on our race planes which are cubcrafters carbon cubs. A typical carbon cub is 170-180 horsepower. These engines will produce 300 HP at 2700 RPM and higher horsepower at race R...

    Hello Jason! We met at Butch and Genie Jensens property back in 2018 and since our talk I’ve been enthused with aviation and loved watching you guys and the Patey brothers. I would love to go for a flight and get into it. If you’d be interested in giving me some pointers or advice, let me know my friend! I’m in helper but maybe we can plan something.

    One very important question for me please!!! When you were making your right turn back to the runway, did you put in a little left rudder to side slip just a little. I know this is cross controls and uncoordinated flying, but I think it might help to minimise stalling. Correct me if I am wrong. Thank you. Jez.

    Yes, practice and knowing your aircraft seems to be an essential skill base and a no-brainer (ie, doesn't need any thought to know it's a sound idea) because it can take some of that panic and shock out of it, or at least speed the recovery from it, and allow one to make a planned, rational response that will drastically imcrease one's survival odds 👍😎 I'm not a pilot, but even the most basic thing for a vehicle driver to know - what it's actual emergency stopping distance is, is something most don't know and almost always drivers significantly under-estimate how long it takes to stop - especially with poor road conditions.

    starlink COVERAGE is available most everywhere on the planet now- the reason they're hard to get is because the demand for the terminals is VERY high- they're production constrained for the time being.... I mean- think of it- it's not like you can go to best buy and just buy starlink gear that works with their satellites- do a search on starlink transmissions and how the antennas work- those dishes are basically phased array radar connections- it's cheaper than having a real parabolic dish with signal tracking. that would mean your equipment would cost around 10-20k. phased array means you only need to get in the general direction- and the antenna gain will do the rest. just 10 years ago? the only place you'd have found that antenna would have been in the nose of a fighter jet.

    General Aviation is an interesting community, but one that has great privilege in high production of carbon emissions. The mentality of bigger, better, more badass, to me needs to be replaced with a culture that seeks ultra high efficiency rather than prolonging modes of consumption that mimic that of the good old days of the Post-War era. Efficiency may be the life blood of the community.

    I don't know if it's just me, but i can't stand that marketing term "Solar Generator" A generator it is not. It is an electrical storage device that can be charge by various electrical sources, solar just being one of them. If anything , the panel is more of a generator" Other than that peeve, It's a pretty damned cool system. Looks like the Starlink antenna has an auto tracking system to keep in optimal alignment. Starlink is still not available in many areas and if you go on their website and type in your location, it will let you know.

    • @ClassyTurtleProductions
      @ClassyTurtleProductions 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I hate that term. they are only doing that so they can phase out gas generators and people might think its a good replacement.. but its not, gas generators will always have a use for certain situations.
