There's a Deutsche Gramophon album called 'Horowitz at home' where he plays the most delicious rendition of this piece I've ever heard, similar to this one but with better sound quality. The left hand at the end is just amazing.

Once upon a time, these theatrics at the piano were a no- no and rightly assumed the people listen with their ears, not their eyes.. Nowadays, what you see during piano performances is often ridiculous.

Bartok 2 is far, far more difficult than Rach 3. The great Bartok pianist Annie Fischer told a pianist friend that she started to learn it - a page a day - and then gave up. The sound in this recording is not always clear - you can't hear the individual groups - the orchestra often sounds just dissonant coz you can't hear the counterpoint. It's a great work. a superb performance.

Interesting how technique never seems to be an issue on the respective level she is at. She's always 100% focused and, as it seems, on making music only, not on hitting the right notes. Well, except the Mendelssohn, which, by the way, in the meantime she can play so well, that she comes very close to delivering reference recordings. The tender, pearly little scales at the end of the Chopin nocturne, at age 7?? Pretty unique. I like the way you put her age in years and months! Her progress must have been so rapid that this seems absolutely relevant. She must have been quite a challenge for her teachers, half the time they must have been more in master-class mode rather than everyday teaching. What a miracle she is!

Cliburn is hands down the best, the best rach3, the coda sealed the deal with me, it is legendary, the orchestra the last sound.... Uffffff i listen to it all day like a maniac, also have insane ideas in my head to find and kill the guy who coughed 10times on the recording available in Spotify, idk i get strong emotions with this peace especially with cliburn l, brofman, lim, horowitz

I’m not sure why more people don’t mention or seem to notice this: this piece is unique for the fact the strings are completely silent in the first movement. I have seen it performed live and somehow it escaped notice. It wasn’t until I looked at the full score that I noticed. It shows what a genius can do with clever orchestration. The fact this movement is so exciting, dynamic and rich in sound is what amazes me. She plays it well, but others play it with more power, in my opinion. Bronfman is about three times bigger and that extra weight pays off in bigger sound.
