In Ideapod - The place for inspiration and creativity I found this: A Google books search of The Human Side reveals this quote: “What humanity owes to personalities like Buddha, Moses, and Jesus ranks for me higher than all the achievements of the enquiring and constructive mind.” This is the only mention of Buddhism (or Buddha), as far as we can find. Therefore, it’s likely that the quote by Einstein on Buddhism being a “cosmic religion” is paraphrased or been attributed incorrectly.

With respect to the freedom of expression, I would have to disagree. There is this view that the Buddha lived and passed away as a Hindu. Actually whatever the prevailing traditions that existed in Ancient India at that time, the Buddha was not a part of it and clearly explained how his teachings have important distinct features which cant be ignored. The first three sermons which he gave contain knowledge which cant be found in any other religious system that existed till then. Also what is known as Hinduism did not even remotely exist during the time of the Buddha. There were Buddhist temples and Jain temples, but there was no structure called Hindu temples where they came into being a lot later according to archeological evidence. Buddhism at its origin maintained its distinctness from the prevailing traditions and was not some stripped version of Hinduism for the sake of export.

Buddha didn't teach anything to anyone but he shared what he discovered with others because he can't teach anything and make others understand, because Buddhism cannot be taught it's simply engineering one self within , simply he gives them instruction and asks those people to practice but it bit laborious process but beautiful results

This is completely wrong. False information. Too many inaccuracies in the narration. Example - 1. He didn't reject hinduism. He showed what paths and traditions inside hinduism itself have more significance and can lead to enlightenment. More like pointing towards the correct. 2. There's no such thing as brahminism. There are so many examples of social mobility inside the varna system. 3. Varna doesn't determine your karma. Varma was initially defined as your profession. Later it became hereditary.

Did he say this ? by Ben » Wed Jan 09, 2013 12:01 am You need to be careful about any quote attributed to Albert Einstein, particularly in relation to spirituality and Buddhism. A few years ago when as a mod at e-sangha, I contacted the Albert Einstein archives in Israel to check the authenticity of a quote attributed to him about Buddhism being a cosmic religion. Back on e-sangha, we had that particular quote on our first page. As it turned out, the quote was not authentic and the archivist told me that there were a large number of things attributed to Einstein that he never said nor wrote, or were created by combining de-contextualized statements from different talks or papers he wrote. Some people crave the referred authority of someone like Einstein so much to back up their own views or beliefs that they will do just about anything to do it. My advice, until the quote can be authenticated and read in context, treat it with a grain or two of salt. kind regards, Ben

0:36 - Buddhism, a Spiritual Religion and a Philosophy of Life What an insightful perspective! It's fascinating how Einstein viewed Buddhism as a scientific religion, blending spirituality with a deep inquiry into the nature of existence. The way Buddhism offers both a spiritual path and a philosophical framework for understanding life is truly unique. It encourages us to explore our own thoughts and beliefs critically. I'm thrilled to see others recognizing this harmonious relationship between science and spirituality!

Then only you go through Aryamagga Dana sheela bhawana flowing Buddha Dhamma. So do not try to convince people that you do not need Thripitaka. Because it is written 2500 years ago and protected by therwada Buddhist Sangha of Ceylon we do continue our universal truths of Buddha Dhamma
