My recommendation is not a new game but a hidden gem called phoenotopia awakening. It isn't just a great game..... it's a masterpiece. It's the same kind of masterpiece as chrono trigger trigger with a massive world full of mystery and secrets and world building. Fishing, cooking, the towns are so big and theres so much to do I've put in 50 hours and I'm only a bit over halfway done. You don't have to take that long but theres just massive amounts of extra stuff to do if you want. Anybody that hasn't heard of it should check it out if you like zelda and metroidvanias.

I've had Constance, Beyond Galaxyland, and AWAKEN - Astral Blade on my radar for a while. All three of them of their demos blew me away, and Astral Blade and Constance still have theirs on their Steam pages. The Anima Flux demo, on the other hand, let me down, and I must be the only person on Earth who did not enjoy CrossCode. I may still get into Alabaster Dawn, but I will have to wait on reviews and hope it tones the puzzles way, way down.

What's the music that starts at the Alabaster Dawn segment from? I recognize it and am pretty sure I played whatever game it's from, but I can't remember what it is! 😖

A game where a woman runs up ramps and jumps barrels. Like Donkey Kong from the 1980's. Are game designers even trying?

Devs are badly overcompensating with the nonstop female protagonists.

Why does it seems like every nowadays game would be in anime or similar style? I miss the old times where adults were also a part of the community.

SO2 is my favorite, even more since the remake came out.

Too many "metroidvania-like" games. Most of these will just get lost in the noise of that oversaturated genre.

That's a really nice list but not including game titles in the description or timestamps feels counterintuitive. There are better ways to make people watch the whole thing without skipping parts of the video.

Im keen on this game thats like cross code although i still need to check out crosscode. 8 bit adventures two is definitely one that im keeping my eye out for. Im with retro brandon. I feel like parcel corps is crazy taxi on a bike haha. Ace video 👌

Parcel Corps looks like Jet Set Radio, Borderlands, and Crazy Taxi had a baby. I'm genuinely intrigued by that one! Though all these look awesome!

What's your upcoming indie game recommendation?

I understand you critism and agree with a lot of it. But at the same time you also neglected to think about why some of the decisions where probably made. Only being able to teleport from the hub is frustrating but it also passively encourages you to quickly look if you have characters that want to talk with you. The map not being precise actually doesn't bother me at all as again it forces you to memories it and encourages you to prioritize opening up short cuts. But i understand regardless. I do agree that the teleporting ability comes too late although i would place it more around 1/3 of the game. It should have come the moment you finish the first boss.

I backed it with the physical edition and first press games is having all sorts of issues. They FINALLY emailed me a steam code so i could play it which is what I'm doing.

Yep. Nier Replicant was not what i was expecting. Has not aged well.

There are many underrated games, But Oddworld Strangers Wrath is the most underrated game that I can think of at the moment, It had it all, very creative & unique gameplay that blended FPS & third person gameplay, well designed & immersive environments, A very good story with a twist, very intense FPS combat scenario's with blistering enemy AI, including distinct boss battles, and totally hilarious dialogue & one liners, I understand why that creative director Lorne Lanning, was so disgusted by the lack of sales with this game, That he guit game development for several years because of it, I just recently played through the 2022 HD remaster of the game, and it still holds up as an exceptional game.

Last hope was 3rd S.O. game I played (I followed some "guide" what games to play in what order to get best from the story) and after finishing it I WAS AMAZED, Story of 1st Dep. and 2nd Evo felt even better after playing it and having it tie up all of the things that were a heavy plot things in previous 2 games, also the way they did Character endings caught me by surprise, I got all "regular" party member endings and was bit bummed I couldn't get Faize + Crow endings, and then BAM! after credits rolled you see their endings, I know it was a simple thing, but it felt soooo good to experience something like that :))

Thats wild i literally just picked up skul! Cant wait to play that it looked like a fun Halloween game. Theres a fair few games in this list im hoping to check out in the future. I still need to play crosscode! Awesome video.

I've heard from quite a few people now that they much prefer Octopath Traveler 2 over the first game. Amazing list bro, pixel graphics can be quite captivating when used well as an aesthetic!

Sea of stars is some of the best pixel art ever. I’d take it over “Hd-2d” any day. I would add Arco to this list. And Norco, come to think of it (not related to each other)

Moonlighter is one of my all time faves. Really broke me into the 'Indie' world.

One game that I'm surprised to not see it's "Eastward", but yeah all the rest on this list is so good. :) Edit: Have you see the upcoming Pixel art rpg games "Bloomtown" (September 24th) and "Beyond Galaxyland" (also September 24th ahah). They look so good.
