    That is a hsingyi mentality but it shows that you should do the internal move and wherever a person pushes they don't have success. Later he has the typical in and out transformation typical in tai chi. All good stuff

    l can see how Master G Xu move his internal energy with his mind intention, he could look soft and relaxed but his foundation is solid like a flexible piece of steel, something that is only attainable through years of dedicated practice Thanks and heartfelt blessings to Master G Xu🙏 l really appreciate sharing his knowledge and wisdom I've been studying and practicing Tai-Chi for almost 20 years, and is really hard to grasp the internal arts concepts, this videos are so so helpful

      @@ragemydream Don't call senior teachers Master. It might sound funny to you but, it is insulting. Master is reserved for dead teachers, as a way to honor their memory. Any teacher who calls himself "master" or allows students to refer to him as such is a teacher I would stay away from. (Some of my students call me master and they are quickly chastised for it. It's not funny.) I will be making a video on what "Black Belt" and "master" mean in the next month or so, and will include my opinion on this subject. All the best! It's a good metaphor. The hip and torso are the handle, the arms and hands are the whips leather cord, and the feet are the arms and hands. But maybe a better metaphor is rubber band, or sling shot. It is difficult to articulate our understanding of jin, whether it's fa-jin or hua-jin or any of the innumerable others. I only teach and utilize the four. Ting-jin Dong-jin Hua-jin and Fa-jin Keep practice and train for life. Laoshr #60 CYKFA

      Hi Peter, it is pretty difficult to use words for something that needs to be felt…but let me try. It my look like a whipping action but it is not. Master Xu‘s movement is connected all the time, yet you cannot get a hold of it, like a ghost. When you touch him, when he hits you, it feels very hard on the outside and it hurts 😅 but it is constantly moving in the inside. So it is more dimensional than just a whipping action.

    It seems that he is drawing QI from the outside, but it's the opposite. With the inhale, it's drawn from the inside, AKA, the invisible, energetic dimension. That's why it's called intenal, because it's not visible/perceptive to the senses.

    Guns took away traditional Kung fu. A bullet would stop 10 years of hard training. Wong Fei Hung’s eldest son was stopped by a bullet, he never taught his younger son Hung Gar. The Tong wars and early protection rackets offered by the triads were settled with fists and cold weapons. The coming of guns eliminated the need for real Kung fu.

    19th century boxing also didn't have the hands up and close, because back then, like in traditional Chinese martial art, people didn't punch the head, so you didn't need to defend head punches as much. But the thing is, now people DO punch the head, therefore we need to adjust. Maybe you don't want to do the boxing stance and that's fine, but we should have a plan for defending against head punches, preferably a plan that's been tested against contemporary trained fighters.

    • @ShredST
      @ShredST 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@AM-lh7rw I've watched a few videos on this channel and I haven't seen anything that addresses western boxing strategy. Does he talk about what to do against an opponent who throws minimally committed punches and keeps the distance? All the applications I've seen him do assumes the opponent will throw punches that can be easily bridged, which not an assumption you can make about a boxer.

    • @AM-lh7rw
      @AM-lh7rw 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ShredST valid questions. I don't know why he doesn't here🤷. I know he has speed, timing and control from personal experience when he was in the UK. It wasn't a fight or pressure testing, he was just doing a demo in the early 2000s. He tapped my throat 3 times in a not prearranged sequence with his fist. He circumnavigated my guard as if it wasn't there while we were moving. I guess your questions depends on who the videos are for. I can't answer your questions and I'm not going to give you a load of bulls droppings. Having boxed, I know having 👊coming at your face is a wake up call, or a goodnight💥 if you are unlucky.🤣

    • @HamasPringles
      @HamasPringles 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's similar to a long guard in boxing. If they're close and not connected, they'll guard the head and face, along with the groin and stomach, with something like a Philly Shell. You'll see it in a lot of internal exercises. The target selection is different in boxing vs tai chi, due to rulesets. You're not punching the groin or neck in boxing, whereas tai chi attacks those areas along with incorporating joint locks and off balancing. I've boxed, but the type of power tai chi generates is entirely different from boxing. It's like fighting a bull vs fighting a ghost; a boxer hits hard and moves fast, but a good tai chi player feels like they're not even there. George literally hits like a truck, too.
