Peace be with you. Thank you, brother. Based on my research, I don’t believe that Muslims who sin are not Muslims so long as they don’t leave the prayer. I do believe that I’m a Muslim though I sin but repent as often as possible. The deviant group known as Karajites believe that Muslims who sin are disbelievers. Also, God can forgive what is lesser than Idolatry Shirk to whoever He wills as He says in the Quran. So based on my research, yes one can still be a Muslim if they commit sin and even in our history, many Muslims used to commit sins but they never left the prayer.

Our beloved Prophet left a “parting gift” to his Ummah precisely to provide the necessary guidance for us to follow the right and straight path after his passing:- This is the Sahih Hadith of Thaqalayn which states (general meaning in English): Am leaving you two weighty (precious) things, The Book of Allah (The Holy Quran) and my Ahlulbayt (my close family) which, if you hold fast (firmly) to BOTH of them then you will not go astray. This clear message of guidance also implies:- A) If you only hold firmly to ONE of these TWO and not BOTH OF THEM then you will very likely go astray B) The Holy Quran cannot provide sufficient guidance ON ITS OWN to the Ummah as a whole - if it could then there would be no need for any Prophets and Messengers and Allah (SWT) could simply send down his Book of Divine Guidance and let the people read it and then be guided correctly. C) Divine Scripture needs interpretation, and such interpretation can only be provided by Divinely Guided persons (who were the Prophet’s Ahlulbayt (a.s.) or their successors who are the Righteous pious scholars having the appropriate and sufficient high levels of knowledge to do so

We do not believe that they fell from grace and were punished, rather Allah, The God, May He be exalted and praised forgave them. They were meant to sin but they repented soon after, this is the lesson and example. What do we do after we sin? There is no such thing as a "second revelation," and prophetic traditions (Hadith) do not exist. Only the Quran is the truth, and it alone must be followed.

Quran 19:59-60, But they were succeeded by a generation who neglected prayer and followed their pleasures and so they shall find misguidance. Except for those who repent, believe, and do good, they shall enter into Paradise and shall not be wronged in the slightest (shall not be denied the reward of any of their good deeds.)

Another question is can you be a Muslim without prayer? The answer is no. As for rewards, I kindly disagree about rewards because the Prophet peace and blessings of Allah be upon him who taught us how to pray informed us about the rewards and benefits of some prayers and likewise, the consequences of abandoning the prayers, it amounts to disbelief. I agree about most of what you say but the Prayer Salah is also the greatest act of worship and the closest we get to our Lord is when we are in prostration sujood.

After the death of the holy Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him and his progeny), Muslims have have two options for seeking guidance from; the holy ahlulbayt (family) of the holy Prophet. Others. The holy ahlulbayt are those family members of the holy Prophet who grew up in his blessed lap. Islam, Qur'an, the sharia'h, etc. were revealed in their house. The angels descended with the blessings, mercy and salutations from Allah into their house. Muslims are obligated to send blessings upon not only their holy Prophet but also his holy progeny in their namaz/salat. The holy Prophet left behind him the Book of Allah, the holy Qur'an and his ahlulbayt. The ahlulbayt are the flesh and blood of the holy Prophet. They are the heirs of the holy Prophet's knowledge, wisdom and characteristics. The holy Prophet loved them the most and they loved him the most. The holy Qur'an testifies of their purity, infallibility, sinlessness and perfection. Who can understand Islam, Qur'an, sharia'h, the sunnah of the holy Prophet, etc. better than the people of the house? As regards to the others, we are not sure of the state of their iman, source of their knowledge, information and understanding about Islam. Please study the following statements very carefully and ponder over the points discussed. The daughter of Abu Bakr, the wife of the holy Prophet, the mother of the believers, Ayesha (may Allah be pleased with her??) waged a war against the sahabi, cousin and the son-in-law of the holy Prophet, a member of the holy ahlulbayt and the rightful caliph of her time, hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him). Many were killed and many were injured in this battle. The name of this battle is the battle of Jamal. The holy Prophet had warned his wives about this episode. The son of Abu Sufyan and Hind, the father of Yazeed, Mu'awiyyah (may Allah be pleased with him??) waged a war against the sahabi, cousin and the son-in-law of the holy Prophet, a member of the holy ahlulbayt and the rightful caliph of his time, hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him). A highly respectable sahabi of the holy Prophet, Ammar bin Yasir (may Allah be pleased with him) was martyred by Mu'awiyyah (may Allah be pleased him??) in this battle. The holy Prophet had informed Ammar that he would be killed by a gang of traitors. The name of this battle is the battle of Siffin. As a free thinking Muslim, I am sure that it is my right to analyse such episodes and search for some concrete explanation, such as:- 1. How on earth can Allah, the All Just be ever pleased with the oppressed and the oppressors at the same time? If this is not a mockery of Deen then what else is it? 2. Can a sahabi of the holy Prophet be a warmonger, an evil monger, an unjust and a bloodthirsty? 3. Can a warmonger, an evil monger, an unjust and a bloodthirsty be a sahabi of the holy Prophet? 4. What is the definition of a sahabi? 5. Who was right and who was wrong in these two battles? 6. If you were there at the time, whose side would you have taken and on what grounds? 7. What kinds of examples and role models were such beings? 8. What kind of example and role model is Ayesha for the Muslim women? 9. How can such beings who are drenched in innocent blood be a source of knowledge, information and guidance on Islam after the holy Prophet? 10. What kind Islam (if that is Islam) can be expected of such beings? 11. Did Ayesha, Mu'awiyyah and their followers pray namaz? In their namaz, did they send blessings upon their holy Prophet and his holy progeny? What kind of beings were they who sent blessings upon their holy Prophet and his progeny and at the same time waged wars against them oppressed them and spilled their blood? 12. Did Ayesha, Mu'awiyyah and their followers accept hazrat Ali the rightful caliph of their time? 13. What is the punishment for someone who rebels against the caliph of their time and wages war against him? 14. We are told not to speak anything against the wives or the sahabas of the holy Prophet regardless of their warmongering, injustice and bloodshed. The SON of prophet Nuh (a s ) could not escape the wrath of Allah. The WIVES of prophets Nuh and Lut (peace be upon them both) are burning in the hellfire because of their corruption. Allah has cursed the UNCLE of the holy Prophet, Abu Lahab by his name in the holy Qur'an. What makes Muslims think that the wives and the sahabas of the holy Prophet are immune from the wrath of Allah? Please read Surah Tahreem. 15. What would you say about someone who is drenched in the blood of your own Prophet's family member? 16. We are told that the wives of the holy Prophet are included amongst the ahlulbayt referred to in Surah 33 verse 33. This cannot be true for the following reasons:- a. the relationship between the holy Prophet and his wives is because of marriage which can be nullified through divorce. b. how can someone who waged a war against the family member of the holy Prophet and oppressed him be also a part of his family at the same time? c. none of the wives of the holy Prophet claimed to be amongst the ahlulbayt mentioned in this verse. Muslims claim to love the holy Prophet and his holy progeny and at the same time they also love revere, respect, honour and follow their sworn enemies and take them as their leaders, guide and source of knowledge, understanding and guidance. If this is not a top class hypocrisy then what else is it? Muslims need to wake up from their deep slumber and start some kind of soul searching about the source of their information, knowledge and guidance on Islam after the holy Prophet.

Fair enough brother. However, no matter how fallible the first generation were, they're still better than the innovators. Remember that those people came from Quraish, the Jahiliyya itself. So a lot of their actions were to some extent still influenced by the culture they converted from, a very harsh backward barbaric jahliyya culture.
