Excellent Weekly Reader John as usually!! You and Jakob are always great!!

I'm finishing empire of silence and seems a bit derivative of other works, but I expect the following books to be more unique since I heard good things about the series.

2 things; 1) I don’t understand why everyone hates on iron gold I think it’s some of pierces best work. Sure it lacks some of the action that the other books have but it sets the table. Jakob you’ll like it! 2) I finished book of elsewhere and my god. It starts as this narrative of history and philosophical stories then theses twists come in towards the end. So we’ll done!

Howling Dark and Demon in White were so good! I'd have to reread them to really say which one was better. I have the Kingdoms of Death in my TBR next month. I'm coming up on the end of Chapter 12 in The Blood Stones, it is really good. If you can squeeze in a book, why wouldn't you? So proud of Jakob for finishing a book and filling out that shelf!

Interrupting cow says? 😂 Also, let's face it... if you won the lottery you'd spend a lot of it on books anyhow so it's a bit of a wash 😁 And I still can't believe you didn't name that episode "Talking Tori" . Missed opportunity 😉 Anyone else picturing "What happened to you?" "I subscribed to a channel" ? Great video as always. Even though we got welcomed back more than Mr. Kotter. Just finished the replay, this was such a wonderful chat! I promise you John, you are not even going to miss Bruhai when you dive into the Cold Silver for Souls world!! And I am 100% seconding all those indie recs, especially Wistful Ascending! And if I can add one to the list: Legacy of the Brightwash by Krystle Matar. Noir murder mystery set in a gaslamp fantasy world with some of the best fatherhood themes I have ever seen... it's basically screaming your name! Thanks for the lovely time 🤩

I had no idea you were such a horror fan. I can totally relate to your reaction to Exorcist. My introduction to horror was Child’s Play 2 when I was like 5 and I’ve been a fan of horror ever since.

I finished A Deadly Education by Naomi Novik this week. It was fantastic and I immediately grabbed the second one. I'm about 2/3 of the way through, and I'm loving it just as much.

I read only one book this week. Empire of Silence. And it was awesome all the way. I absolutely loved it. It probably was the slowest book i ever read though. Anyway it will probably win book of the month. Next week im gonna read Red Country by Joe Abocrombe. Can't wait of town square. And happy reading to you

Oh love the Dragon, currently I am giving The Thursday Murder Club a try. New Author for me, little bit of mystery in London. About 75% through it so far. Its interesting, the people are in a old folks home kind of place and the crap these 4 people get up to if entertaining. Here's hoping it sticks the landing at the end.

I just finished reading the first book in the Silo series called Wool by Hugh howey great start to a series and I’ve come to this series off of the Apple TV series of the same name Fantastic start next on TBR The will of the many.

The Dragons are awesome! I am trying to finish Memories of Ice up before September starts.

Today, I had a fish on my shirt. Hecklefish for President. I got it from the Why Files store today, with my "Hecklefish for President 2024!" I am probably not going to want to watch all of this, but a Janny Wurtz background! Congratulations for some for real for real visual artwork by a literary one, and your father is just jealous. She shows up enough in the live streams of you and your friends that it's definitely an honor. Love you all @Talking Story, whether it be Bookworm, son, or wife. Satire!

It’s me. I called it town hall and not town square. Sorry in advance everyone😅😂 Weekly reader is becoming a favorite Sunday evening tradition of mine. I was listening in the car and had to make a Sonic stop to get a Dr Pepper because I’ll be damned if I don’t have a frosty beverage to go with my weekly reader. John- I love how you give previews about books in such a way that gives more context to the book than is typical from the average book recommendation without spoiling it. You might be the best at promoting books on booktube! Also- I love the meta-narrative developing that John is replacing Jakob with Pooh. It’s a great running joke Cheers!

Good for Jakob, he finished Slade House! Is that his first Weekly Reader book? This week I’m reading Fredrik Backman’s Us Against You (sequel to Beartown). I enjoy Backman’s writing so much. It’s like coming back to an old favorite even though I’ve never read the book. Have a great week!

Hey guys thanks so very much for sharing your week with us. Your boundless enthusiasm and joy came at a great time for me. Had a bit of a stressful week but this cheered me up 😄didn’t get to read much due to said stressful nature of this week but hope to have a better one soon! Hoping to finish Tigana by GGK tomorrow and start Birth of an Empire by Conn Igullden on Wednesday (my first by this author). I’m a bit of a pick pot when it comes to historical fiction but I have heard good things. Not sure what hard copy book I’m planning on picking up after I finish Legend of the Galactic Heroes bk 5. I had the same experience so far with Demon in White. It’s so awesome to see Jakob getting after the reads! I gotta figure out still where to start with Feist-I kinda wanna use the opportunity to combo Janny Wurts and him. Yesssssss Demon in White is indeed like reading 5 books in one! You still have a couple of my favorite sections to go in that one.

Damn Jakob is surpassing my reading lately, but my week was awful overall. I'm trying to listen to Suicide Forrest by Jeremy Bates, not far in so I can't really say my opinion on it.

I’m so happy you’re loving Sun Eater, we’re truly seeing a classic series be written. I finished Disquiet Gods this weekend and it’s honestly the best sci-fi book I’ve ever read by a country mile!

I haven't done a whole lot of reading this week. I sacrificed some reading time in order to write more of my book and play some games with my cousin. BUT! I did finish Demon in White and The Lesser Devil, and I have only 100 pages left of Kingdoms of Death. I've had a very Christopher Ruocchio and Neil Schusterman focused month lol. So far, my ranking of the Sun Eater books is this: 1. Howling Dark 2. Kingdoms of Death (this may become number 1 once I finish it though) 3. Demon in White 4. Empire of Silence I can't wait for you to get to Kingdoms! It's much more tightly plotted and grimdark than the previous three! Also excited for the September TBR! Hoping for Royal Assassin, Kingdoms of Death, and Of War and Ruin! P.S. I joined at Weekly Reader 50 lol. I subscribed instantly, and you guys have become one of my favorite channels, along with 2toRamble, Mike, and Wera!

I know you're a big Joe Ledger fan. Have you read Maberry's Kagen the Damned books? The third one just came out, and I'll be reading it next month, after I finish Hobb's Ship of Destiny to close out Live Ship Traders.

I read hidden pictures this weekend, couldn't put it down, loved how the book uses illustrations. I'm going to start demon in white next \○/.

I have my preference for the September read, but as always I believe in Mr Pooh's infinite wisdom. This week has been rough for me, but I am looking forward to Fall and its associate wonderfulness. I have started Ghostwritten by David Mitchell and am enthralled from the first chapter alone, all the more since I know the incident that inspired it. Still working through Wars of Light and Shadow and The Vorrh. My closest friend has gotten me to read Anne of Green Gables, and I am loving it. But yeah, Autumn time is gonna be my time.

Oh Demon in White is so good- I can’t wait to get those gorgeous Broken Binding editions. Also, yes! Please do read the new Feist book because I had wanted to read it a while back but I realized I have too much to read. I wish I could say- Oh I read this and that but I admittedly am in the final stretch before I catch up to One Piece and I am so unbelievably obsessed with it. OH SHOOT! I forgot to do Town Square. Darnit! Oh well. Now I need to go watch Nerd Level Rising later this week (after I catch up to One Piece- that’s what everything revolves around at the moment) Anyways, I hope you have a great week as well! I’m going back to One Piece so that I can actually focus on To Ride Hell’s Chasm this week.

I finished up Joe Abercrombie’s The Heroes this week. Now I’m in the middle of reading Red Dead’s History: A Video Game, An Obsession, and America’s Violent Past by Tore C Olsson and The Wingfeather Saga Book One by Andrew Peterson. I’m a teacher and the Wingfeather book was donated to my classroom, I’m reading through before I put it on my class shelf. It is just the kind of book I would have absolutely adored as an upper elementary kid- I wish there had been more fantasy series like it at that age. I am so enjoying it as a fun stroll back into childhood!
