You talk too much
😉
I may try this, I have sourdough bread ready to bake today and I’m scared to heck about using that super hot Dutch oven.
You have such a steady hand with the rotary cutter!!!
Thank you!
Are you beaming in 2 or 3 inch sections? I just got my AVL and I am so challenged with some details. How do you drop you warp into the tension box? Do you have any tension on the beam to tension the yarn?
Congratulations on your loom!!! AVL’s are by far my favorite! I have made several videos showing how I beam. I also acknowledge that I do things differently than most people, so my methods might not work for you. In the last couple of years I’ve been beaming 3” worth of ends into a 2” section. I tension it with my hands. I’ll see if I can make another video showing you.
Where can i find the pattern?
I linked to the pattern in the description of the video.
Did you go to school, or take some type of classes to learn how to weave at this scale? I have a small loom that I can make somethings approximately 8x10, but I want to possibly get into weaving professionally.
I went to the school of hard knocks! 🤣 Basically trial by fire! I bought and sold a lot of equipment, I read everything I could and basically tried everything until I slowly figured out what worked (and didn’t) for me. I’m not sure that there is a school that teaches how to be a production weaver.
@Rebecca.Robbins That's amazing! And very encouraging. I know there are textile design schools that also encompass weaving, but so many seem to be independant crafters that learned on their own. ❤️ Thank you so much for the info.
How long does it take to double each time? And what's the room temperature?
Thank you. Simple enough! Can you please tell me why mine had a small growth on the side? It had an air bubble. Did I not roll it tight enough with the final shaping?
Sometimes that happens to me as well. You may be right about the rolling, but I’m not sure.
I got some used biobottom wool covers on ebay a while back but haven't used them yet. I can't find any info about them online and they say you can wash in the machine but I am wondering if I should just hand wash instead. Do you know anything about this brand? I am also curious if there is a way to sanitize wool covers that were previously used? Thank you.
I’m sorry I’m not familiar with that brand. Personally I would always hand wash. Steaming them may sanitize.
You have to wait two weeks before the centers go liquid around cherries…..
You’re right! I can’t believe I forgot to mention that! I’ll be sure to add that to the description of the video!
Do i need a compressor with the elift system?
No you don’t! They do have an air lift system which does require a compressor, but the e-lift does not.
This was so informative. Thank you for sharing this cool collaboration. (I'm sorry i wasn't in the hobby back when you were trying this new format, to support it. Your videos are gold.)
Thank you so much for watching! I’m glad you enjoyed it!
Did Cait shut down her shop? The website is down, and Green Grass Hadnswovens hasn't posted anything on instagram in a year (i don't have facebook).
She is still doing a little, but not a lot. She has a group on Facebook called “Bulk Buy Yarns” where she does some pre-orders.
I'm really glad I found this !
Me too! ❤️
this is awesome one of my favorite candies wish i was good at making things i’d love to try homemade ones😂
I think you could totally do it! ❤️ I’m getting ready to make more!
Thank you! I just made these. Totally amazing..
I’m so glad you enjoyed them! ❤️
So after using them fpr each thing? Like after using them for extract you take them out and ten use them for paste then I assume you dry them oit annd turn whats left into power? Just so I understand??
You got it! They do become less flavorful each time they are used, but you can still get lots of flavour out of them.
How many wool covers can you wash in that one tub of emulsified lanolin?
I sort of go by feel. The more covers I lanolize, the more lanolin I use.
You made this process so simple and answered a lot of my questions along the way! Thank you!!
I am glad this video was helpful!
Very helpful - thanks
Glad you found it helpful!
I use the term “I measure with my heart” you should use that. It’s a common phrase.
Thanks! If you watch a few more of my videos I’m sure you will hear it! ❤️
Could have just went straight to the recipe no need to feed
You are absolutely right! I could have gone straight to the recipe, but then again, people who are just starting out might not realize that if their starter has been in the fridge for a while, it might need a little tlc.
Thank you so much for this! How often do you lanlize diapers? And does this process ruin the towel that you use to dry the diaper?
How often you lanolize depends on when the diaper cover needs it. Usually you will find that you start getting some leaking. That’s when you know. It definitely varies. You won’t ruin the towel as lanolin will wash out with warm water. Good luck!
ok, please do tell, what is your thread per inch and are you using a 6 dent per inch reed?
Yes, usually a 6 dent reed. The ends per dent could be anything from 3-5 depending on yarn used.
I am trying to see where you put the rod through the plain weave pic.....is the rod sitting betwen the knots and the reed? and th6en do you use those zip ties to connect thje two rods as the securing process holding the rods together?
You got it! That’s EXACTLY how I do it! ❤️
UR A BIT WEIRD
🤣 yep
U ACT AS IF U HAVE THE $$$ MONEY BUT WE DON'T.. LIKE I CAN AFFORD IT BUT YOU PROBABLY CAN'T.. I TOOK GREAT OFFENSE TO THAT. HONEY IF I HAD MONEY ISSUES I SURE WOYLDNT B LOOKING UP HOW TO MAKE.. I MAKE FOR GIFTS AND PURE ENJOYMENT!!! I THINK I KNOW HOW MUCH BEANS & VODKA IS.. AS FOR THE REST OF THE INGREDIENTS HELL I WOULDNT EVEN PUT A PRICE WHOOO CARES. I THINK I HAVE THE MONEY IT JUST WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE HAD YOU SAID OPPOSE TO ACTING LIKE THOSE WATCHING CANT AFFORD IT
I’m sorry that I offended you! I’m not sure what I said in this video, but I was probably complaining about the price of vodka. I’m a non drinker and am always shocked at the price of alcohol when I buy it for making extracts.
Can we please have a follow up video on this topic! Thank you! I have only done the 3 ingridient one i used Date syrup as the sweetner.
what size dutch oven is that?
Thx for sharing 😊 - question, i didn’t notice you doing a proof rise, the second one in the fridge “cold rise” for up to 48hrs. How does your crumb look without the proof rise?
No problem pre heating your enamel case iron?? I just bought one yesterday from Lodge, and instructions say you’re not supposed to heat without food in it? Maybe that’s just stove top tho?
I preheat empty lid on at 500 in the oven.
I think the old fashioned flat or prefolded diaper, with pins and "rubber" pants worked WAY better.
Adding alcohol to your vanilla beans will be an extract, not a paste. Using alcohol, you leave the beans whole, then add your alcohol. Leave it in a jar for around 18 months to 2 years, and you get vanilla extract. Vanilla bean paste is opened lengthways, and then cut into 1" pieces. Water is added, along with sugar and corn syrup, then cooked on the stove for around 45 minutes on a relatively low heat. Remove it from the stove, let it cool, then blitz it for a couple of minutes. You then pass this through a sieve, then place it into a sterilised jar, and store it in the fridge, which will last you years. The vanilla bean that is left in the sieve can be dried in the oven and ground down to be used in cooking. Maybe people on TH-cam should know what they are doing before placing videos that are totally wrong. I suggest researching recipes before post videos in future.
This comment is full of nonsense. Not sure what your intentions were. The video is a valid video with valid information and instruction.
@@rhondabarlow860 That information is from a profession ice cream maker. But, hey, you are obviously far more experienced than he his.
Do you have a tutorial for sewing the carry Loop?
Is your tap water filtered? Just curious, European YT’er I watched says the chlorine has a reaction to the yeast. I’m curious, I’m new to baking fresh bread I am curious if you noticed a difference in how the bread rises? I have baked maybe 7 loaves so far and have only used filtered water becuz the tap water here in WA has fluoride and chlorine.
You can leave the water out overnight to have the chlorine gas off afaik, but tbh I have fed my starter with tap water a few minutes after and it has been fine. If you are worried, you could take a little bit of your starter aside and test it by using your tap water to see if it still rises well.
Oh wow... That is truly some gorgeous work. It's not often I'm jealous of a mannequin, but I wish I could be wrapped up in that, if only for the pictures.
Aren't we terrible. We just do not want to loose that fiber. Actually it's more fun to load and use them than to unload them. When you find out why the pirn fairies are on strike, will you let me know? They aren't doing mine either.
🤣
I can totally relate!
Do you have to let your bottles sit for 3 days after mixing the kombucha and berries?
Please don’t use tap water
My tap water is safe and filtered.
I always use tap water. I always stir with a metal spoon and I never separate salt from the yeast or levain. My bread is always fine.
@@SuperBC10 I’m talking about using tap water in general , for drinking, cooking etc. if you are not aware what is in tap water …, so choice is yours
I am perfectly happy with 4 shafts. I have a two shaft rug loom that I am bored to death with. There's only so much you can do with tie-ups and color study, both warp and weft. The 4 shaft is my darling. I also am not a huge fan with playing with projects. I design and weave tartans, and that makes me happy. I rarely do a scarf or a blanket of random fiber when I am pressed into a online community challenge, but honestly, I can't wait to get it off the loom and go back to what makes me happy. I'd like a 4 shaft rug loom in the room, instead of the two. I keep both dressed and working, one being a short break from the other. You've got to go with what you love, or you'll hate doing it.
I couldn’t agree more! Weave whatever makes you happy! ❤️
I sanded all my heddle rods with fine grit sandpaper and then lightly oiled - game changer. (my rods are 100 years old and the metal heddles are original)
Oh I love that!!!
If you make a slurry with oil the xanthan will not clump
Thanks for the tip!
Why are you using it in measurements of grams and not cups or metric system. New so I’m genuinely curious, thank you.
Grams are metric. I just find it easier. As a Canadian I use both imperial and metric.
Stunning warp, can’t wait to see how it weaves up!
Thank you! I have finished photos! Thanks for the reminder! This has probably been the busiest season we have ever had in the studio and I haven’t had much time for recording, but you are inspiring me to get something up! At least a follow up to this video! ❤️
@ congrats on such a busy time, i can see why - your work is incredible! No pressure on posting but it is always a delight to see your work. I’m glad you’re staying active on here as you’re very inspiring
Thank you for sharing
Thank you for watching! 🥰
What a great studio space! Oh, you make me want to go further into this weaving journey like you wouldn't believe. Alas time and money both being what they are, limiting, my journey will be long and joyful...thank you for showing me what can be...small steps to big dreams :)
I am glad my studio can inspire you! ❤️
I love thos colorway! It's so gorgeous!
It is a lovely combo!
So beautiful ! The colors and texture...glorious!
Thank you! I really love how this turned out.
My mother did not understood the temperature, because Rebecca is probably americain, and skips both the hundreds, and the farnheit, and the TH-cam IA trying to generate the subs does not understand anything. => 430°F = 221°C.
I’m not American! Sorry for the confusion. I’m Canadian.
