    The first 3 albums have been great with almost every single song a winner. Thats pretty rare. Hats off to Kensuke Akiyama. The guy is a freakishly great song writer and producer. However he has also left the band. Losing Saki as well really does take out the majority of their songwriting ability. However the ladies can write good songs. It will be interesting to see how well and how quickly they can write now. Song writing is a darned hard thing to do and we as listeners sometimes take it for granted. Some bands are lucky and will have that one person who splurges songs quickly and proficiently. I've heard some bands like the B52's for instance say it was hard for them after they lost their first guitarist and took a while before they could get songs up and running. Fingers crossed the ladies will have fun and write plenty of new songs. They will be off in a slightly new direction now without their awesome producer Kensuke but I'm sure they will make a strong go of it. I cannot wait till tomorrow to hear their first new song from their evolution period. Its going to be great.

    • @TheLongGoneLoserRockShow
      @TheLongGoneLoserRockShow 15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@yakidin63 yeah! Exactly! I am wondering if losing both Saki and Kensuke was more of a corporate business decision by the label, than the members actually leaving. I thought I read somewhere that Saki didn’t want to leave? That to me sounds like she was eased out of the band. We will probably never know the real reason cos it seems Japan’s labels are very secretive about their business decisions. It just seems bizarre that both were gone at roughly the same time. Like why would you ditch the producer who has done so well for them? The dude obviously knows how to craft a great song so giving him the flick seems a bit of a weird move. But tomorrow we will find out just what happens next. Either way, I am excited for it. If it means the girls will be 100% writing their own material then it’s going to be hella interesting cos they’re such incredible musicians that I don’t doubt their ability to write an amazing song or twenty. Let’s hope for another batch of awesome anthemic tunes for us to all sing along with. Thanks for you comment. Appreciate it.

    The music is in no way better than that of Nemophila. What was her intention? I could understand it if it was a side project of hers. This way she has massively weakened a fantastic band that was on the verge of an international breakthrough and she hasn't done herself any favors. No interest in it on my part.

You have to follow your own heart, regardless of what everyone else around you wants you to do in life. You have to put yourself first. We only have one lifetime to do all the things we wish to do in life so you may as well do what you want to do. Sure, It’s risky what she’s done but probably only in the financial sense. She’s already an established guitarist though and maybe she has bigger dreams she wants to follow and achieve and no one should stand in the way of that. I’m happy for whatever she wishes to do. Our entire society is based on cooperation and understanding in order to create something more important than ourselves. That also means being able to put things on the back burner. I am in favor of second chances but not third and fourth chances. At some point you have to make a decision. Would the Rolling Stones have been so successful if Keith Richards had quit after three years? I don't think so. Neither he nor the rest of the band would have become so famous.

That doesn’t sound like something you say if you left on your own accord. The fact both he and Saki are no longer with the band sounds like it could be a much bigger decision than someone just deciding one day to leave a band. Maybe they were eased out? Maybe the label have different plans with the direction of Nemophila? Maybe the question isn’t “why did Saki leave the band?” but instead could be “why was Saki asked to leave the band?” We most probably will never really know and to be honest, it’s none of our business really. I’m just glad the music is still there to enjoy. Both parties are moving forward. I like both Nemophila and Saki’s solo work (and all her previous stuff with Mary’s Blood) too so I’m sure there’s something big coming.

    Before hearing the first track or reading the EP case, I had found out that Saki had managed to get Senri Kawaguchi playing drums on this EP. In other words, someone in the conversation for best drummer on the face of the earth, full stop. Proggy metal like this isn't necessarily something you think of as being in Senri's wheelhouse (she's a fusion jazz player, primarily, and one of her biggest projects these days, The Jazz Avengers, is even more on the trad jazz side of things. But Senri's fusion playing has always had loads of power, so she knows how to get the right tone for heavy stuff...and her technique level is elite-tier. I had bad luck with the ticket lottery for the live show in Yokohama (that also had Hana Sano from Gacharic Spin/Doll$Boxx on second guitar!), so I haven't been able to see this combination of elite virtuosos live, but who knows what the future holds?

    Thanks for this review/recommendation. 2:07 Japan just doesn't care much for genre boundaries. And rightfully so. Yeah, I don't think Ironbunny and Babymetal are a good comparison. But what is interesting Kotono has her own Babymetal connection, she performed as part of the backup dancers (Chosen Seven) of Babymetal at the Dark Night Carnival shows in 2018. 1 of those ladies (Saya) actually got to perform at Singapore and Australia shows as part of the 3 member formation. The year after 3 others (Avengers) were chosen that all have a similar background as Babymetal and could thus better integrate and years later 1 of them became the new member... (Momoko/Momometal) anyway, this is all not that important. What was very interesting and much more relevant and I think sad, Koiai performed a Babymetal song: Tales of the Destinies at one of their shows ones (which is such a crazy song, Babymetal only performed it live ones). They performed the song around the time of this disc and sadly it wasn't recorded/released as far as we know.

    I have the Blu-ray, I consider myself very lucky to have gotten it due to the nature of the release, it was sold out in 1 day or less for overseas fans. I also have both Koiai albums with the photo booklets, they were so kind to print up. Very underappreciated band unless you already have been listening to them. Wakazaemon is the perfect bassist for this band, but she is in East of Eden and has done a lot of work with Marty. I have been into Lisa-X for 3 years now, such an amazing guitarist. Some people may not realize that Hazuki has been with Lisa-X longer than Nemophila. They just have not had the same spotlight as Nemo. If anyone can find any copy of that Blu-ray it will disappear fast, Last I heard it was completely gone with no chance to make more copies. Also, the Dancing with Kotono and her friend, forgot the friend's name was really the extra bonus for me plus the Hazuki solo section and the Lisa-X solo section. Is it just me, or did it seem like Kotono was having some "new kid on the block" moments? Or was that intentional? Hazuki said, "what, you are not going to introduce the rest of us"? Now that I think about it, it was probably just an act for comedic value. The "ABC" song is amazing, even if it is a pop song it is fun to listen to.

      @@Richzee777 I never got the KOIAI albums cos when they were released, I was heading to Japan anyway and thought they’d be on sale everywhere and that I’d just buy them when I got there. Such a silly mistake on my behalf. It would be awesome if a label did a reissue on vinyl with one EP on side A and the other on side B. Hmmm. Yeah I laughed when Hazuki made that comment on stage. It was amusing. I dunno if she thought the crowd already knew very well who Hazuki and Lisa were or if she just simply got caught up in the moment and forgot. Either way, it was amusing. I loved every minute of this show and I feel that seeing the songs played live made me love the recorded versions a lot more. The dance part with Kotono and Saya Hirai was unexpected. I had no idea what was happening at first and then realised it’s probably cos Kotono was a dancer for Baby Metal and danced a lot in Ironbunny so people know she dances. Either way, it was cool.
