I've been into the Japanese rock and metal scene almost exclusively for a few years now. It's where the most interesting (to me anyway) things are happening in music right now. I think Saki is THE most legit 'Rock Goddess' of anyone. She's an amazing player. 🤘❤🤘 Thanks for doing this! 🙂

@@80mtn thank YOU for watching it. I appreciate it and the comment. She is an amazing musician and no doubt she will be huge. And I agree… the Japanese music scene is definitely the most interesting thing going and I’ve been all about it for 3 decades now and really hope more people discover it and see that it delivers on all accounts, no matter the genre. There’s just so much great stuff happening there. Cheers!!!

@@TheLongGoneLoserRockShow It's funny. I've been looking at NAONのYAON videos all morning. (except for the new Band-Maid release of 'Magie' live from The Day of Maid concert in May) and thinking about how much of an influence Saki and Keiko Terada have had over young female musicians there. That is a legacy to be proud of. Well.. you know, that and her face melting riff writing and shredding! 🙂

@@80mtn yep! I hear ya. All of the things. All of the time. I have a field day when I’m in Japan hunting for all the albums and blu rays I don’t have. It’s so much fun hunting for them. Amazing what you can find in the bargain used stores there. Plenty more videos coming on Japanese rock and metal. Hope you’ll enjoy them.

Before hearing the first track or reading the EP case, I had found out that Saki had managed to get Senri Kawaguchi playing drums on this EP. In other words, someone in the conversation for best drummer on the face of the earth, full stop. Proggy metal like this isn't necessarily something you think of as being in Senri's wheelhouse (she's a fusion jazz player, primarily, and one of her biggest projects these days, The Jazz Avengers, is even more on the trad jazz side of things. But Senri's fusion playing has always had loads of power, so she knows how to get the right tone for heavy stuff...and her technique level is elite-tier.
I had bad luck with the ticket lottery for the live show in Yokohama (that also had Hana Sano from Gacharic Spin/Doll$Boxx on second guitar!), so I haven't been able to see this combination of elite virtuosos live, but who knows what the future holds?

@@DavidKAnderson Senri only plays on the one song but damn she puts in one hell of a performance. Her style just fits so well with the riffage and structure of Germinans. I love her drumming. It’s really something else.
Shame you didn’t get to see the show but let’s hope it gets included on a bonus blu ray with the next release. That would be wild!
      Thanks for the comment. Cheers!

The music is in no way better than that of Nemophila. What was her intention? I could understand it if it was a side project of hers. This way she has massively weakened a fantastic band that was on the verge of an international breakthrough and she hasn't done herself any favors. No interest in it on my part.

@@Medley3000 I think if her heart wasn’t in it anymore, there’s no reason to stick around cos fans can see through that kind of stuff. You have to follow your own heart, regardless of what everyone else around you wants you to do in life. You have to put yourself first. We only have one lifetime to do all the things we wish to do in life so you may as well do what you want to do. Sure, It’s risky what she’s done but probably only in the financial sense. She’s already an established guitarist though and maybe she has bigger dreams she wants to follow and achieve and no one should stand in the way of that. I’m happy for whatever she wishes to do. So far the music still appeals to me and I’m still a fan. I understand it’s not for everyone and that’s totally cool. That’s the beauty of life, you like what you like. Thanks for watching / commenting. Appreciate it.

@@TheLongGoneLoserRockShow She has already done something similar with Mary's Blood. No, sometimes this urge for self-realization turns into egoism and selfishness. Our entire society is based on cooperation and understanding in order to create something more important than ourselves. That also means being able to put things on the back burner. I am in favor of second chances but not third and fourth chances. At some point you have to make a decision.
Would the Rolling Stones have been so successful if Keith Richards had quit after three years? I don't think so. Neither he nor the rest of the band would have become so famous.

@@Medley3000 keep in mind that Kensuke also parted ways with the band and he was a key player in their sound and songs. He said he hopes to work with them again. That doesn’t sound like something you say if you left on your own accord. The fact both he and Saki are no longer with the band sounds like it could be a much bigger decision than someone just deciding one day to leave a band. Maybe they were eased out? Maybe the label have different plans with the direction of Nemophila? Maybe the question isn’t “why did Saki leave the band?” but instead could be “why was Saki asked to leave the band?” We most probably will never really know and to be honest, it’s none of our business really. I’m just glad the music is still there to enjoy. Both parties are moving forward. I like both Nemophila and Saki’s solo work (and all her previous stuff with Mary’s Blood) too so I’m sure there’s something big coming.
