I find this to be a sad take on what music is. To me music is the most exhilarating artform precisely because it is alive (more alive than painting, sculpturing, architecture etc.). Your argument in my opinion degrades music to also be a "dead" artform. And I say this as someone who only listens to historical interpretations for baroque music. For paintings, the painting itself is the art, for music however, it's not the sheet music which is the art, but the performance thereof. Music and painting are thus fundamentally different forms of art which can't possibly be compared in this way.
