A doctor had it built because he was employed by the TB hospital actually on the hill, then over time sketchy activities even a few drug bust in the house. Now currently for sale and the land from the house to the church on west pages. But, who wants to own hill-age property?

Apparently for 350k it can all be yours. The listing says the house was built in the 1800s. From the look of the place, I thought maybe it was further south and had gotten flooded, but nope. I'm I feel like I remember seeing the entrance with its own tiny railroad crossing (not so much the house) in the early 90s when I lived in the area and thought that would kinda suck. Having lived that close to a railroad a couple of times (why does this keep happening?? LOL) I can say for sure that the noise there would've been intense every time a train rolled through, even if they didn't blow the horn at the uncontrolled crossing.

The names of the alleged victims are NOT in fact Sarah Mitchell and Roy Clarke nor is the date provided by the Louisville Ghost Hunters Society correct. No such persons every existed. The names were made up by the group because allegedly the grave of the real victims was desecrated and they wanted to prevent it happening again so they changed the names and dates. This was according to Jay Gravatte who was a member of the group.

The concrete thing was an old cooler. One of the first infrastructure items Mr. Rose built on the island was an ice factory. He advertised in the newspaper that Rose Island had "ice cold water" from deep underground, when infact he would just put ice and water in the concrete cooler. Spigots around the cooler (the holes all the way around) would let people refill their mugs and cups with ice cold water they thought was coming from deep underground. The eye-bolts at the top were the hinges and latch for the lid. The big metal thing at the 10 minute mark is the sound board from the piano that had been in the dance hall. I learned these things and others recently by visit the park and getting a guided tour from the Charlestown State Park naturalist, Jeremy Beavin. He also has videos on TH-cam where he discusses these, and other interesting facts about Rose Island.
