Scott Paul Moderate Loop Hike at Mount Baker - Concrete, Washington, USA
This was a lovely alternative to the often overcrowded Park Butte and Railroad Grade Trails at Mount Baker. We only saw a couple other groups and had warm but otherwise perfect conditions. The trail offers rock formations, a unique suspension bridge, delicious berries, wildflowers, glacier views, and beautiful views of the Cascades, including Mount Shuksan, the Three Sisters, Hannegan, and many more. This trail requires a National Forest day pass, Northwest Forest Pass, or America the Beautiful pass. It is dog friendly but doesn't have a ton of shade or water.

Heliotrope Ridge Trailhead Road - What is takes to get there - Deming, Washington, USA

This is a trail on the north side of Mount Baker. It is dog friendly, but please be aware of you and your dog's ability because there are some serious water crossings that require fording fast water. @SavvyExploring do you think it's doable early July? I have intentions to backpack up there on the 11th through the weekend and explore the whole area

@@dm71091It usually is but the snow is different every year so I would keep an eye on trip reports. WTA is a great source for detailed reports as well as All trails.

Those really are a whole lot of wildflowers. Very windy too. 👍7

A couple of weeks before would have been much much more but I'm happy with what we saw.

Vanilla smelling trees? Hmm sounds nice. Looks like a lot of uphill on this hike. I guess some of those trees caught fire. The whole area seems beautiful. 👍5

You think in the summer i can drive a corolla to the trail head 😢

Some people did. It would probably take longer but assuming it didn't get any damage over the winter I think it would be doable.

@SavvyExploring awesome I just moved here. I lived in Colorado for years now I'm trying to find some amazing hikes that are not straight walls and that I can drive too and this place looks amazing

Tons of options but the roads are definitely hit or miss. WTA is a great resource and I have a blog. Welcome to the PNW.

Of course! We told of how the rat king betrayed us and snuck back to our car to eat the food we left there, just like the mice did on our Jade trip last summer 😂
