  • Challenging incredible couple of days in the Cascade Mountains! We Started from the Deception Pass Trailhead, hiked by Hyas Lakes, Marmot Lake, camped 2 nights at Jade, and attempted climbing Dip Top Gap to Pea Soup Lake. We clocked over 22 miles of hiking and 4800 ft of climbing, most of that with full packs!

Road/Parking: Long washboard road but nothing crazy, except the seasonal water crossing. As long as the water is low any vehicle can make it, it just might not be pleasant. Tons of parking, but it does fill up and people were parked way down the road by the time we left. There are 2 pit toilet bathrooms at the trailhead.

The trees are ridiculously tall in Washington. The lake was beautiful and those views were amazing. The turquoise looked so intense with the washed out looking rocks. The glacier looked awesome. OMG the 7 min mark looking out at the lake was spectacular. This was a great hike. 👍

Yes, we have those tall trees to thank for a lot of the roads to get to these trails. A lot of them were built for logging and/or mining. Thanks for watching!

We definitely lucked out! I was actually on a work trip that week and we saw the weather opening so I got home late, packed up and left the next day. My body didn't thank me for it but I made it!

Been up Mt. Daniels near where this is and every year the past few I've said I would get up there but there is always another easier hike, 2024 is the year I will get there!
