Hard to say what the winter will have done to the road but maybe if you go early you could snag one of the spots 1/4 mile from the end before the worst holes.
I took this road in my Prius. When you get to the 2 washout s you just have to give it gas and don't let up. It's terrifying, but I've done it twice now and my car still runs great.

If it was a touch wider it really wouldn't be too bad a road. I would hate to be the first one to drive through for the season!
