Thanks for this post, as I've been researching the Supernote and deciding whether to get a device. The nomad version might be a bit too small for me so I am curious about the release date of A5X2 in Australia. I am also assessing whether I should get A6X2 or wait for A5X2.

I’m excited for Ratta, but a large part of the appeal of the A6X2 Nomad compared to my reMarkable 2 is the more convenient size. Time spent using the Nomad may change that, but for now I’m quite happy where I am…

I am waiting for the A5X2, it will be my 1st Supernote device. I hope the Polish language will be supported by recognition in near future. Thank you for the update.

Just some encouragement to make the channel better. For some reason the audio is really bad in this one. Intro sound is way too loud and your voice is way to low and sounds like you don’t have a mic. Anyway, thanks for the hard work. Hope it continues to get better. 👍😀

Can you make linked notes from the mind map?

The thing here is that with the excuse of AI they can technically harvest a ton of data. Which is concerning. It is already hard to trust large corporations, imagine to believe a small company with zero credibility that pull out a device with 0 protection of any form. And this is before even talking about the fact that you would spend 800 dollars for a cheap tablet that is sold as "distraction free", like the ViWoods, when you can get AI facilities from an app on the phone that you already have. If we talk about AI for writing recognition then yes, there is a reason for it to be there, and would make sense to have AI to learn your individual writing style to adapt to it and improve. The issue is that you cannot do that on a tablet, as you need to send your data for training; which at that point would include what you write... So we go back to square 1: do you trust any company to read what you write? If you work with NDA material in a big corporation that make stuff that is unreleased, would you risk it? If you are a writer/creator would you risk your unreleased work to be taken and shared before being released or leaked, just because someone had an accident? I already get my personal data leaked by all the companies I use daily in a way or another... So now should I get another worry with AI implementation in this space? No thanks.

I got my A6x2 a couple days ago and have been experimenting with many scenarios to confirm practical use cases, pros and cons. I'll do a short 10min youtube video on my findings. After about 16 hours of use, this is a very well designed device with many pluses and a few shortcomings. The list of pros is too long so I'll mention the cons. 1)With the Nomad form factor, portrait width is priceless. As a result, I move the note toolbar from the left to the top of the screen and naturally a few icons are then hidden. The 3 rightmost icons are not necessary in the toolbar (undo, redo, swipe) and are there at the expense of more useful functions like Erase All, Templates and Delete Current Page. The toolbar should be configurable. 2)Either the Note app or the Drawing app should support drawing perfectly horizontal and vertical lines which would make creating templates on the device practical. 3. The Drawing app has bugs with clear screen refresh and stylus recognition at the bottom left of the screen if the toolbar is on the left 4) The Calendar Day Mode to me is useless unless I can select a time slot and handwrite the note 5) It would be great if after doing a handwritten note, I can select an area with the Lasso tool and add a comment similar to what is available for pdfs. 6) Haven't figured out if a voice note can be recorded. Notwithstanding the few cons, this is a brilliant device.

I feel that AI would be a distraction from all the other things they already have in their software roadmap that would be preferred over any AI inclusion.

It would be beneficial to have an option to input credentials for a preferred AI service provider. This would enable users to send files or notes for summarization and save the results on their device. Consequently, the demand for a more powerful chipset may be reduced. Ratta could further enhance the user experience by developing a prompt library, allowing users to select specific prompts for processing files in the cloud.

SKIP the A5X2 and wait for the A4 version. The A5 and Nomad are too small. The Supernote ecosystem is so much better than that of Boox, but they need to up the ante and come out with a much larger version with 300 ppi.

Thank you for going through this. I note the hardware roadmap has recently been updated to suggest the new A5X2 device may be available in September 2024. My interpretation of the same roadmap also suggests the A4 X2 is in the pre-research phase with a Time to Market in 2024-Q4. That would be wonderful Ratta can have three different e-Ink devices to choose from in 2024.

my biggest issue is syncing between to ratta devices i cant stop getting duplicate notes which has made using my nomad and A5X unusable i have switched to boox and will stay there for now

no updates about side loading apps? i am really torn to get supernote A5X2 or a boox device but i want to read mangas and graphic novels too from another app, i am a new e ink user so I am not sure if I prefer BW or colour lol

Look your notebook things cool but just get an iPad for God sakes it would do you so much better I would definitely recommend the new iPad with the M4 chip in it it would do you sell well. You can use it for multiple uses and I’m sure you can use it for work. I work for Apple so I can give you a huge discount too if you need, I can get you the thing for $500 off of the $1500 trust me man it would do you a lot better, and you would like it more to

Also "begin production" means the factories in China will start to make the devices; so count at least another month or 2 before the devices will be available to all. It is not like the factories will make more than 50-100 units a week, so add at least few weeks to pack and ship those and you end up with a street date for the A5X2 probably around October-November. Then of course some people will get it earlier, as usual, for reviews. The A4X2 is still in pre-research phase... Not sure how it is even feasible to see it shipped few months later if they had so many issues to ship the A5X2 after shipping the A6X2.But we will see

The web interface BTW has nothing to do with the app on windows or mac and the device; they are totally different systems written in different ways, so the look is totally irrelevant. Most likely they will rewrite the UI on the web once they settle with what look and feel they want to use and uniform everything when the A5X2 is out. Takes 5 minutes to push an update on a web app, compared to an update on an app on a phone or a computer after all

I never expected the A4X2 to appear this year... so now have a dilemma, do I go for the A5X2 or wait for the A4X2? I think it'll depend on if the A4X2 has a split screen mode! Damn, never though being spoilt for choice would be a problem but it is. I budgeted for the A5X2 for this year and the A4X2 next, but _'on a wing and a prayer'._

I ONLY use the region select - once they added the trash option to the selection, I quit using the region eraser altogether.

At TC 15:00 you are talking about moving tasks to TO-DO list, I use the Bullet Journal method when writing the tasks in a NOTE; when I move them to the TO-DO App, I just mark them in the NOTE with the BuJo annotation ">" that indicates the task was moved to another place for tracking.

THIS is a great use for shorts!

I've looked at every review of the Supernote products from the last 2 years including the a6x2 and its very clear that the Goodreader review was a hack job intended to unfairly portray the product in a negative light. I really wanted to comment on their video and ask several questions on the assertions but unfortunately they locked off the ability to receive viewer feedback. Fortunately there are several balanced reviewers out there that have multiple products from Supernote, Boox and Remarkable that provide fair comparisons. The moral of the story is likely Goodreader is getting some form of sponsorship from an ereader manufacturer and are playing the fear card on directly competing products. If Supernote were to support them, the a6x2 would soon become the best product they have ever seen. This is the state of many TH-cam influencers.

I have a question: I am having issues with the palm rejection on my Nomad. The pen goes into lasso mode frequently and I have to lift my palm and write in unnatural positions to get around this. Have you experienced such issues and if so, do you have a solution for this? Thank you so much!
