I have had a 5.0 supercharged 2012 portfolio, short wheel base, not offered in the US. Done about 70T miles. None of those issues and my drivers seat leather is in excellent condition. I agree with some other posters attributing many issues to the collision. It is clear this car was repaired to a poor std. The JAGA501-001 was issuwd 4 yeats before the launch of the model. BTW all x351s up to late 2012 will rust due to the steel frame bonded to the aluminium body without adequate protection preventing electrolysis. You must rectify this issue. I will add you should put in new engine mounts around 55 to 60t miles and subsequent intervals. You need to blow out the drain holes cause they get blocked with dust/debri. It needs to be serviced every year. Also put on EBC pads. Way better for performance and dust. Best saloon I have ever had. I have had Ferraris blah blah and have a Merc SLS Roadster owned for last 6 years. This XJ is a very good drivers car.

Once the first end of the ground clamp is placed, some people prefer to complete the circuit to the helping vehicle's ground (or jumping box negative terminal) before connecting the first positive clamp to the discharged battery. If you have both the positive and negative clamps of one end of the boosting cables connected, and then inadvertently cross the opposite end's pair of clamps (mishandling, wet surface, helper vehicle's exposed underhood metal, your ungloved hands...), sparking or much worse can happen, especially if the assumed dead battery isn't. Great series, thanks for all aspects of your XJ experience.

Absolute beat of a car, these are literally £13,000 for a 2014 ith around 60k miles in the UK. I like the V8 but my god nearly 1k a year road tax is mental😂

My 2019 for some reason didnt want to reset even though i got it to work the other times so i decided to just put it in run and then press the brake 3 times and it works so weird

Thanks similar procedure if you have a push button start. Just push the engine start button twice to get it into accessory position number two. Everything else the same. Make sure the odometer is on the full mileage reading. Hold down the odometer button button while pushing the start button twice.

It looks like it has been in a minor front end wreck at this glance. Thank for pointing out those issues which I can't blame you because they are important screw ups by Jaguar which is Ford I believe. I was thinking of buying an xj but now that though has moved a few levels down.

One thing that should be understood and, like you, I think many who buy Jaguars understand, but they are absolute masters at initial quality. What I mean is this. They understand their market so well. Most who buy Jags brand new are fairly wealthy and as such are either those that always lease or depreciation eaters (those that like throwing away money on depreciation by buying new vehicles and then selling, also around the same time a lease would run out. So, like other luxury brands, these vehicle are fantastic at initial quality = the first 4 years, roughly. Then the rest of the time is a crapshoot really. I don't know how they manage to balance cost by using materials that last specifically for initial quality, but they all do it. There are a lot of folks, however, who don't understand this. This is the number 1 reason why nearly every used jag as the most owners of any vehicles I have ever seen consistently. These cars are not for those people. Who they are for though are those of us who appreciate the styling the quirks, inconsistent material quality, but most importantly the stance and driving experience. Those who'd not really ever buy these from dealers, but instead opt for the adventure of an auction buy. While not always true, everything adapts to the bell curve after all, I'd never recommend a jag to anyone if it is going to be their only car AND if they would be paying someone to work on it themselves. I have 2 (as of this weekend, actually). I have had an X-Type and just recently procured a 2011 XJL Supercharged 5.0 from Copart for $900. It will be a little of a project, but not terrible and I can do all of the work myself. I plan on buying one that is for parts only/crash damaged that I can probably get for pretty cheap and then use it as a donor for the one I just recently bought.
