You could have camped at the playing field behind the Arran butcher in Blackwaterfoot...... That was silly telling you to go on to Queens cave.........
Thanks for the comment they would have saved me a lot of trouble. Thank you. Hopefully this will help other people.
Hello dear Sir . I am a little younger than your good self but mighty unfit and considering a arran hike /wild camp in early April. Having watched this great video I can see car camping may be more suitable. Undecided as have a non refundable single kent to glasgow train ticket booked. I do know from going to the Highlands car camping it is as easy as you choose it to be, compared to lumping a ruck sack around and not knowing where your next meal is coming from .
Hi, go on foot, you won't regret it, Take some dried food, and trial snacks. There are camp sits. And shops and pubs on the way. You will see a lot moor no foot. Go for it. Good look let me no how you get on 😊
I’ve got ‘that damn book’ good for info but not the best maps of the actual North Downs Way
If the land is along side navigable water, by small boat, I would be interested.
I get alot more condensation in my Anjan 2 then I do in the Akto , the akto having great ventillaion with large vent at each end and one on top. Had the Akto in a strom with 90mph forecast winds but didnt measure the wind, there are videos of it in 85mph winds on youtube though and not even double pole'ed.
If stuck Taxi or bus.
Just started watching you, did this walk 3 years ago lovely, looks like you got got good weather like myself, I was taken by the wildlife and trees further on. There is a route over the hill from behind the bothy, small track to a landrover track to camp site, or camp at castle across from pub looks like a private house.
Thank you for your comments, much appreciated
You went against your own advice to stay with the tent and not panic. If the pole broke, the tent would just become a spacious bivy bag, pinned to the ground you had nothing to fear, just put your waterproof gear on if worried or get into a survival sack with your sleeping bag.
Thanks for the comments and your story, I have more confidence in the hilleberg since those days 😄 .
@@INTENTONADVENTURE Seemed to be too much movement of the inner and the end of the tent. Have you changed how you tension your guylines at the ends since then?
Good man. As a fellow middle-aged, slightly out of shape rambler (in both senses of the word), I enjoyed your mini adventure. Keep keeping on :)
Well done on walking the Arran Coastal Way with all your gear! I loved watching your walk as I also walked this in 2017, but it was over seven days using our car to get to the start and finish points. Even with less daily distance and a light load it was hard going. We camped as well with our tent and some days a camping pod at Lochranza. We didn't get to walk the bouldery coastal section after Seal Shore campsite at Kildonan as the tide was high. Watching your video I'm glad we didn't. We took the high route via the Giants' Graves to Whiting Bay. It was definitely slow going for us too. The unknown terrain is very challenging, but I loved seeing the remote wilderness of Arran. I hope you popped into the Douglas Hotel in Brodick for your certificate and Arran Coastal Way pin! 🥇
Thank you very much for your comments, did not know there was a certificate. To late now 😂😂
@@INTENTONADVENTURE lol I thought you might not have known as you were straight on to the ferry 😀
Definitely interested , we’ve been looking for 4 years , we’re in kent too
When I was over on Arran a couple of years ago I'd never seen so many otters in my life. Virtually tripping over them! Also saw killer whales at Catacol Bay. There were loads of seals so guess that's why the KWs were hanging around.
Great video, it looked so tough in places, but you did amazing! Well done 👏
Well done for calling out the banana skins. Unacceptable. Thank you for the leave no trace message. Bit of the old nasty ridgeline exposure eh!😉 Harsh but you came through thoughtful and organised. Thx for posting.
Interesting stuff, thanks for sharing. Lots be absorbed from this. But don't give up camping!
Glad you're safe and well. If you do venture out again can I suggest an inreach or PLB type device.... do you think if you had one you would have triggered it? I've recently purchased GPsmap 66i for just this type of eventuality. Cheers.
Thank you for your comments much appreciated, strangely enough I've been looking at inreach min2, to today, and I think I will be buying it. Going to an uninhabited island in Scotland for 10 days. Would be very handy
Iam 68, Ex Airborne Forces Medic, trained in survival in extreme conditions, I have walked the hills for Forty Years, But these days I don't go into the Hills, Mountains and Moors on my own anymore, simply for the reasons you mentioned.
Thank you for your comments, my lesson has been learnt the hard way.
Hi. Jim here. Met you in Whitingbay earlier this year, well done you made it all the way round and thanks for the mention.
Yes I remember, how's everything going. Just done a trip to Cairngorms
Thank you for sharing… I was planning the same hike. How long did it take in the end? 8/9 hours?
Hi, yes it it took about 9hr, I should have pitched my tent earlier, when you get near the town there's nowhere to camp. You have to walk through the town to the other side, along the coast.
Great video, keep going!
Thank you, that was really informative! I'm heading off to wild camp this route in a week or so, but in the opposite direction. Not looking forward to the boulder hopping!
Loving your videos so far, and take no notice of people that say they are to long, they can always come back to where they left off, myself, I prefer long and complete videos. Keep up the good work 👏 👍
Really enjoyed your 'honest' warts an all video. definately a bit of me Mate and learned lots. Thank you, Mike
Really glad you enjoyed the video, I like to say how it is, it's not always easy.
We'll be walking it in a couple of weeks, your experience was very helpful not only as preparation, but especially also to get us stoked for it!
Glad you enjoyed the video, you will enjoy the walk. Let me know how you get on.
Enjoyed to go on adventure with you! (Every vid btw) You inspired to do my own. Please keep up. Groeten uit Holland
Hi, thank you for your comments, I'm very pleased you enjoyed my videos. Hope it's not too long for the next one 🙂
You should have stayed in your tent. If the tent got damaged then no one would buy the hilleberg akto. John Quinn, Glasgow, UK.
On hindsight I should have, but the tent was new to me, I normally sleep in a bivvy, so truth be known I did panic a bit lol but best to be safe than sorry, I now have an extra tentpole, thank you for your comments
That looked like a pretty tough trail. I had considered it myself but was put off by the amount of road walking - looks like that was the easier bits! Well done on completing it - and thanks for sharing via video.
Thank you for your comments, there was a fair bit of road but mostly on coast. Bloody hard going all round 😂. I think I'll do the West Highland way end of September might be better.
We laughed out load at u trying to “board” the hammock. Some good shots. We missed your fun chat. ATB Grays
Glad you enjoyed it, I THOUGHT I'D DO A SILANT ONE THIS TIME lol
LOL, It did make me laugh at the height of the hammock .
HI THANKS FOR THE COMMENTS
Video was great but didn't like the Annoying music . It reminded me of being kept on hold when using my phone
Thanks for the comment might try to change the music
Just bought a 2 door tent. ATB. Grays
HI What tent is it . Let me know how you get on with it.and how are you all keeping?
@@INTENTONADVENTURE Pomoly Hussar tipi look forward to trying it soon. Hope u keeping well.
Loved your video and lessons learned. I've had my Akto for well over a decade now, and love it. Sturdy little tent!
It`s quite hard to hear you because of the wind at times.
Nice video, thanks for sharing. Re. Condensation, like you say, don’t know why people harp on about it so much. If you wake up and the tent has condensation, open all the doors and flaps while you’re having your breakfast and it will be dry by the time you are up and away an hour or so later.
Thank you for the message, just releasing a video today on that very subject,
Brilliant Video Lance and great seeing you and Tony in action again. Amazing drone you have ! I look forward to your next adventure 👍
Thanks for the comment Jason
Brilliant. Specially love the snoopy, little dog. ATB, Hal
Hello! Great video, and unlucky with your first tarp configeration; glad you managed to sleep though! Ive done the NDW from Titsey all the way to Dover, both the standard route and the Canterbury route. I still have to do sections 1 to 5 (Farnham to Titsey) which I will be starting in about 2 weeks. Subbed mate, thanks for posting 🤙
HI thanks for the comments and the sub, I have subed back, will box set your vids
@@INTENTONADVENTURE mode worries, making my way through yours too!!
Congratulations on your Hundred Subscribers, I would like to join you on a wildcamp, I live in London and experienced in living out in harsh Conditions
Hi. Nice video. Quick question. If Hilleberg could modify the tent to your hearts desires, what would it be? Add vent, guylines, storm mats, mesh, zippers, etc. I ask because I intend to buy and have it professionally modified for me. Thank you for the video.
Thank you for your comments much appreciated, if I could change anything of that tent it would be slightly higher headroom, I am 5”11 I wish it just had a little bit more room inside. That said I chose it because of the low profile I think better in stormy weathers. now I’ve had it for sometime I have more confidence in its ability. I would probably never change that tent for another.
Great video mate. Some wasters in the comments judging but you made the right decision and you were fine. I would recommend carrying some extra guylines. Costs almost nothing in weight would have made a huge difference. Keep the videos coming. :)
THANK'S FOR THE COMMENTS MUCH APPRECIATED
Love going there in autumn/winter when it’s peaceful and not crowded! Just love this place - I feel the urge to visit at least once every 10 weeks!
Great hike. And happy, early birthday. Nice Vlog, looking forward so see some drone shoots. You have a wonderful upcoming week.
HI, THANKS FOR THE COMMENT, I'M CHOMPING AT THE BIT TO GET OUT WITH THE DRONE
Your a gluten for punishment 🤧
YES lol keep going never give in lol. thanks for the comment.
Must be the gluten free diet, now glutton that would be greedy. Interesting video btw. Love your self deprecating humour
Good to see you out and about again. do you mean Achilles tendon, sounds like you are saying Hercules.Them stepping stones would be challenge after a few sherbets LOL. 😁😄
Achilles tendon yes lol
Good luck with the drone next time you are out 👍👍👍 .-
Don’t worry Mate, it’s getting out and doing it is the main thing 👍
Great video. You followed your instinct, and here you are ready to fight another day and the tent in one piece. Wheres the fail? there is no fail, we loved the video and your gonna conquer that mountain next time or the time after that, who cares, you are doing it, that's all that matters.
thanks for your comment, i will be back lol
LMAO camping in the wild is illegal ? LMAO what will be illegal next fuckin breathing air ?
Or having anything resembling a knife for that matter. Once as a species we were akin to a pack with domestication we are a herd sequestered in our farm stalls all the sheep de-clawed depending on protection from dogs who resemble much more the wolves than what they “protect”. And far more dangerous than the “wolves” is that Farmer who denies us the forest and our ability to survive in it…
Nice work. You have a wonderful day
If you always took the same 3 knifves with you, why dont you sell every other knive? For me its the variety what makes the magic about knives.
