As Paul says. But you don’t have to pay £24 for it. Just get the £4.99 subscription which gives you the Augmented Reality view of POIs and the Auto rout that makes ma king your own routs much quicker as it follows track or roads. You can then taylor it as you want. Re the maps. Use view rangers own. You can download areas as big as you want for offline use which means you don’t need a phone signal just a good GPS signal. The £24.99 is basically the cost of the OS maps thrown in for the year. If you haven’t already done so, you can also download google maps for offline use too. I always use the record parking position on it as an addition tool and carry a power bank for emergency use with the phone.
Good vídeo Lance. My understanding is that View Ranger use OS mapping. You can download things to save battery. There’s a lot of social media and extra stuff. I’ve downloaded it like you but never used it. The down side of course is the using up of a phone battery and the phone not being as rugged. However you could put the phone in a tough waterproof case. Guess it’s all personal preference when push comes to shove. 👍

I use ViewRanger all the time... never used a Garmin so can’t compare. I download the free landranger maps on it for offline use
