This channel is about technical 3D printing and self-developed 3D printed machines of all kinds.
In real life, I'm a packaging machinery engineer with a full-time job. But in my freetime I design, engineer and build all kinds of things that cross my mind. I've been developing things forever and it's a lot of fun. Unfortunately my time is very limited. That's why it always takes a little longer until new content is uploaded to youtube. I try to describe my developments as good as possible in my videos. For me it is very important that things remain simple and can be copied by others.
I try to link all purchased parts to make rebuilding as easy as possible.
I put a lot of work and brainpower and time into my projects. I hope that this will pay off one day.
With "likes" and "subscribe" you can support me and bring my goal a little closer.

Hello, unfortunately I will not be publishing a full 3D model of this machine. But as soon as the construction is finished I will publish everything necessary to build it. There are hundreds of hours of development work in it.
Are there any instructions for how to assemble this?
There is a 3D model in .step format and this video.

Hello, it will be a while before I'm ready. But there will be a video as soon as I'm finished.
any chance one could build a combustion linear generator using 3d print and maybe some metal parts?
Good question. I haven't looked into it yet. However, I think that this is a very extensive project.
Cool, a Jacquard Head for the 8shaftie!
Make a steam powered loom
Another very underrated video that I've been looking for but never came up in my search results
Good stuff
Love this keep up the great work!
Excelent ! Nice work
Really cool work you got going. Excited to see more of this
Another Great work and very useful on Textile Industry. As your fan, may I request for building a Sterling Engine using some 3d printed materials or some stuff of metals. There are many options to boil water as sources like - Candles - Mini Furnace burning dried leaves - Solar Mirror that concentrates sunlight to the parts to be heated.
It's pretty simple to wire a basic hot plate like those used in high school and college chemistry labs where they don't want to deal with students working with open flames. Today the housing for those is primarily plastic. I have one around here somewhere. Personally, I want designs for a Rose Engine!
Very cool.
Nice. Is there plans to integrate some kind of automation to have patterns in the ribbon?
Yes, it is basically possible to create patterns with 4 shafts. But I haven't tested it yet. There are very high forces on the shafts. I'm not yet sure whether it works well with patterns. It is a prototype. You reach the limits very quickly with 3D printed parts. It will be a while before I publish the construction plans.
@@FraensEngineering consider making the shaft print in multiple separate layers so metal can be used to reinforce the finished shaft. Then the pieces can be glued together using JB Weld or another appropriate 2-part epoxy, further increasing the strength of the finished shaft, and finished/smoothed/cleaned up before installation. If you're ever looking for beta testers on your projects that are in the early stages, hit me up. I'll happily sign an NDA and a contract that protects your proprietary work and intellectual property.
I also thought about reinforcing some parts with metal.

Hi, could you publish the 3d files or send them to me by email?
cults3d.com/de/modell-3d/werkzeuge/3d-printed-stuffing-machine
Very interesting. Are you going to share / sell the design files when it's finished?
Yes, as soon as the machine is running properly I would like to publish it.
@@FraensEngineering Thank you. I'm very interested.
beautiful, good job.
Can this be adapted to make a braided sleeve (ie for covering a wire bundle?)
To braid a wire bundle, it is advantageous to use more than 12 bobbins. But if it is a very thin wire bundle
ahh this one is going to be amazing. Haha I'm still trying to figure out the E-Dobby was way too busy last month. Hopefully the hardware will be easy to get (curses in imperial so I had to buy everything new haha) Hopefully I'll be done with my flat knitting machine before you finish.
You'll have to hurry. I want to do my first real tests today ;-)
I really enjoy all your designs. Just a great example of how 3d printing should be leveraged.
Interesting weft insertion mechanism! ;) I have not seen that type on common industrial machines. I like how it does not add much/any width to the machine, while using very standard materials and contruction. Unlike a flexible rapier, which would be more exotic
The machine is designed to weave ribbons. Wide heirlooms are not possible with this mechanism.
@@FraensEngineering Makes sense! It is a good trade-off
A este me referia ❤
Based on all of your videos. You can start the 6th industrial revolution for the world.
The problem is that most of my machines were invented during the first industrial revolution 😂
@@FraensEngineering but I appreciated your creativity. Honestly your project and Mr. innovative projects are the best projects I've seen on entire TH-cam.
So cool!
oh, genial! sería interesante si pudieras mostrarnos el proceso de impresión. ¡Continua! es muy inspirador!
What exactly would interest you about the printing process?
All right. The clips have already been shot, but I will try to show what is possible.
@@FraensEngineering i apreciate that ! thanks !
Awesome you did it! I never found time to try to design one. I think I'll pick up the plans for this one when I have a chance
Yes, I have invested a lot of time. I've been working on it for more than two months. Today I finished assembling it and switched it on once. I think it could work. The mechanics and the geometry of the individual parts fit. I'm really looking forward to the result.
Interesting. Still have some work to get the maypole braider to not jam but this or the manual loom could be my next project.
These were my first attempts. Time will tell how it works. But so far it looks very promising ;-)
The big question here is why this gentleman does not have 1M subscribers? Astounding work sir!
Thank you very much for the nice comment. I think the problem is that I am not an entertainer but a designer. I suspect I would have more subscribers if I made my videos with my face and voice ;-)

is this finish product still available?
Hello, unfortunately I cannot offer any physical products. I do not have the capacity to do so.
Hey Fraens!! I stumbled upon your channel while looking for DIY plans for a loom and your solution is brilliant, especially the Dobby mods. While I do understand using solenoids because you already had a previous system that used pins to push the correct shafts, what I don't understand is why you used them due to the heating issues. If you going the Arduino route, then you can use cheap(ish) servo motors, you know, the ones used in model RC planes. Not sure the Arduino you're using has enough PWM pins for the 8 shafts, but I'm betting an Uno could do the trick. And I'm also betting that the servos will not have the same heating issues. This would probably simplify your system quite a lot, since the servos would then be the ones pulling the shafts, not just nudging them to engage with the manual lever. In the case of using servos, the entire set of shafts and manual lever would be eliminated and the servos would pull on them via a more simplified pulley system. You would need to investigate what kind of servo you would need in order to have the strength to pull and maintain their position depending on the friction and weight of the shafts. Of course, I may be inserting foot in mouth and you already considered this and discarded the idea because of something I'm not seeing here. Just my 2c. Nonetheless, brilliant effort and a very commendable build. All the congratulations on that !!! Cheers, Gus
That looks amazing. Is the vibration manageable?

Ok so how long did it take to print all that ... And second, what kind of filament did you use?

Ohh man! This is awesome! I want to make a masssssive telescope mirror, like 24in. I was thinking about spin casting the mirror, what do you think woould be my best bet? Now thbat Ive seen you make these Im considering going with a refractor setup :O
My machine can't polish such a large lens 😂 But an enlarged version made of steel should work. But you'd have to ask a specialist.
