It’s odd that the online reviews are done by people that are in the reviewing business. Occasionally, you’ll find a real consumer and for some strange reason these reviews disappear quickly. We’re just looking for someone trustworthy and truthful, not someone getting paid.

I actually ended up going with the Happsy mattress, have not set it up yet, have to wait to have my old mattress taken away, but I've read a lot of reviews that said the Avacado actually had a weird smell? Something just didn't seem right. Sorry you had such an awful experience. :(

Maybe take a look at Obasan... but the price seems prohibitive. I also search for the good natural mattress but for a decent price.@@alwaysinsearch

The beds are ok. They have a classic conventional feel. So it feels like what people are used to. Next level Ergonomics mandates elastic surface tension. That has been compromised in this design, however it gives a classic conventional feel for a firmer bed.. When it comes to individual comfort one side firm one side soft and tailoring the mattress obviously they cannot do that periform this.. We want to avoid mattress returns from the bed and the Box world. So clear reviews that mention some of the design issues are what is necessary.We are just trying to help.

@@DesignSleep .. Hopefully we didn't F up, we'll see. Personally we ordered a split king Intellibed Nightfall and Midnight with Tempur-Ergo Smart Bases. Not to mention for our daughter a king Tempur-Pedic LUXEbreeze (soft) with an Ergo 3.0.

I too was surprised when we cut it open. The Synthetic FR barrier over the under the cover and over the wool is not mentioned either. However they may have changed. This was a Avocado From 12/19.

Thanks for the affirmation. We have been displaying Avocado in our store to help reduce waste with "try before you buy"... . Not so easy to make people aware of this option..

In the time I grew up you lived with what you had and I don't ever recall having the option to return something 'just because'. There are reasons and then this new model where the bed companies send out mattresses by mail and claim only 9% return the bed. In my day if you made a bad decision you lived with it. It now makes me rethink everyone I am in business with and the old saying you need to know the other person and not yourself. This world is in trouble

Steven Fox Why in the world should someone be punished for a purchase if it causes them severe pain?? I have spent over a year researching beds and trying to find one that is not only natural, but good for my back pain. I tried this bed and it was awful for my back. There was no way for me to ruly know that until I tried it, so thank goodness I can return my "mistake."

They don't use polyester, but still do use polypropylene. That said, I have a clinically diagnosed anxiety disorder & cannot sleep well with racing heart or heat + the Avocado I purchased (Fall 2020) has been the best decision I made in my life for health: no more sleepless, anxious nights. And, I love that they are a carbon negative company <3 I get no money or special discounts for promoting Avocado but am recommending from my own lived experience. I will say that I am slender, a side-sleeper, and sleep naked under only a sheet, so these factors all interact to shape my sleeping experience.

Thank you for your response. I have no intention to slander another brand. Avocado is a great value and is super convenient choice for a chemically-safe mattress. I have always recommend it for back sleepers who like a conventional innerspring feel. I think it is necessary to see the inside of a mattress to understand objective ergonomic performance and to help consumers make educated decisions. Last year we questioned the the Avocado cover material for being 50% synthetic, and this year they changed it to 100% organic cotton! Great. I believe it is helpful to give a professional critique of objective ergonomic principles. Companies listen. This year the cover is 100% organic and beautiful. As a custom tailored mattress store 17% of our sales are now by someone who is returning a bed in a box, and many have asked how our design compares to Avocado. We simply hope to help reduce waste. There's nothing incorrect about what he says in this video. Companies need to point out where they are stronger than their competitors. It's just normal marketing.

All those certs yet has 3 layers of tight, hot plastic junk between you and the soft, breathable latex. If I were you, I would send it back and get one from this guy without all the regulation crap in it. I source components and assemble my own mattresses, this guy knows his stuff. You know your mattress is too firm haha

Hi there polite posse. That is not my intention to slander. There some objective functional performance issues that can be resolved. After my first video they removed the polyester content from their cover. I am an industrial designer who graduated from Pratt institute in 1990. I have 30 years experience designing mattresses. The overall conclusion for avocado is they make a great safe, durable bed with a conventional feel. It is a great bed for those that like the feel of a firmer American conventional spring mattress bur want durabilie and safe components. However, next level Ergonomics mandates elastic surface tension. This comes at a price of feeling very different than a conventional beds. I still maintain that avocado is a great bed for back sleepers and for those who want the conventional American spring bed feel. It is just that for over 30 years we have found that 1/3 of couples need different firmnesses. So we just want to educate people of what is out there. And we get the customers who return their online purchases. Hopefully we can avoid this waste. . We just want help.

@@tincou7694 I definitely would. You should try it. They offer 30 days to try it yourself, and if your dissatisfied, you can return it free of charge. Oh and their customer service is amazing! I sound like i work for them, lol.

I would love to see a response from Avacado... it is really hard to buy something this expensive online.. want something organic that won't allergies or asthma... really confused after watching this vid. :(

Lack of transparency. Some people need a mattress that is "organic", as they have severe reactions to adhesives, polyurethanes, and such. This also explains the painfully hard feel of this mattress. Indeed, Avocado is not so transparent and honest as they would have you believe.
