Vanquish VRD Stance showing it belongs!!
It's 11 months later but this was the video I needed. The Gen 9 is on major sale and as cool as it looks, I think i would prefer the better climbing/comp ability of the Ascent.
@@ea214 heyyyy dude I’m stoked to hear that. Thanks for commenting. I’m glad this video helped. Check out my ascent playlist to see what to expect with that truck!
Wait till you see the next trail truck;)
You need inserts man, all that tire roll is killing you.
The UTB18 has become my favorite platform from building the worlds first true UTB18 6x6 years ago to the flatbed Hobby Plus copied recently ❤️ my newest UNIMOG UMG18 using a GS-18 chassis and Furitek Komodo 118 racing farm tractor concept that can tow 100lbs has me wanting to build more 🤘🏼❤️
Thanks for sharing. My little orange truck was slaying lines against 3 Axial pros. I put a pro transmission on a Gspeed chassis with ar45 portals. As a guess, Axial, vanquish, element. Idk.
I’m the same way with motors when they are underpowered I hate it so every rig I own is upgraded to brushless 😂
@@shawnrichardson118 well and they’ve got to be real slow and smooth too!
Hobbywing fusion.
How many of your rigs are still on OEM tires? Give that thing some new shoes, at least. Prolines are on sale right now too. 3.85 on 1.55. Just sayin… 😃
@@stunod-RC :D it’s fair! It’s fair. But I feel for the good terrain I have, 1/10 is the way to go
UTB18 really benefits from some basic upgrades. When they are built right the shorter wheelbase is the only limiting factor.
@@Durzo88 ya know that’s about the same with the 1/10 Capra too. Stock it’s not very good, but with some upgrades it can go a long way
Dig the video not to big on the 1/18 Capra. Missed you at Pro-Line maybe next year. Poizd next? Stay safe my friend Utah Rocks
@@WandererOfTheDesert I heard proline was a hit tho! One of these years I’ll go. Not sure which I’ll do next! :)
@HobbyDrop was my 1st time was amazing. There was lots of rig to see was overwhelmed you will make it there maybe next year. Stay safe my friend
Maybe not the better rig to taste the 1/18 crawl adventure. A lot of more capable mini-crawlers are now available.😉
@@vdel9036 that’s probably very fair! And these are the only ones I have driven in this scale
@@HobbyDrop I really enjoy driving my mini-crawlers. If i'd had to keep only one, i'd surely choose my Hohhy Plus CR-18P Evo Pro brushless (a long name for such a mall thing).😄 If you get a chance to try one, it may change your mind. 😊
Fun video. I love mine. Picked it up built with lots of brass and a Furitek. I run some hard 1/10 lines with it sometimes. When I compared the wheel base to 1/1 buggies it was more like 1/13 scale.
@@donniehunter309 a furitek system would make these a lot more fun. Thanks for watching!
@@HobbyDropthe new Hobbywing Fusion Mini-16 is for this rig. And on intro sale!
@@stunod-RC that would be my motor of choice!
Mini Cap is not quite 1/18th scale… more like 1/14th😂
@@CrawlerTraxthere’s always a purest out there. haha it’s marketed as 18th :D
@@HobbyDrop for sure! We have 2 of them one has Furitek brushless, and it kills the lines. Just like any 10th scale they need a few upgrades to make them really shine!
I realized I kind of sound salty about the comments from my last video. I promise I’m not 😂
Can’t wait to watch will say my 1/18 sporty is amazingly close to my 1/10…..
@@rcarty419 that’s pretty cool! This one definitely isn’t 😂😂
Dig the Reaper and the body the Utah Red Rocks. And a is a gate my friend. Killer lines got to meet WDW this nice guy. Stay safe my friend and hope you get your car running
@@WandererOfTheDesert thanks! Yeah Logan is a cool guy. Ended up getting a new truck haha
To my eyes, no importance whether the rig touches the gate or not. If done with style, it's a win.😊
@@vdel9036 much different than the first comment! Haha thanks for watching
A gate is a gate, no matter where you’ve been looking 😅
@@bouncingnoise 😂😂merciless
Should have Logan come video you, then you vodeo him but also run 2 trucks then switch trucks and do it again for a good comparison of driver vs truck performance. Lol
@@JW-cn6op that would be pretty fun! And much easier haha
I came across your chalk-marked course today, thought it might of been you. Drove your course with my TRX4Wraith, but was only able to clear 4 gates clean
@@Ayrton_Groesbeck haha that’s awesome! :D glad you could have a little fun with it
German comp season is almost over. I started my first comp season with a stock VRD which is now modified to a ready to comp weight of 4.65 pounds, 60/40 front weight bias, and sprung to unsprung ratio of 31/69 percent. The last 3 fun comps, we made it to the podium😊
@@bouncingnoise nice job man! Sounds like you’ve got the tuning down! That’s awesome
Seems like the H10 is way out of it’s comfort zone 😅
You need to name that tortoise and find a trail to name after him in the area.
@@dcreager3 I do have a trail through there named Turtle terrace :) (it’s more catchy that tortoise terrace). But I should name him huh……I could call him Slider :)
Maybe something with 3 back 2 back obstacles that has room for more and name it "three some " or something like that. I have a African snare tortoise and he crawls around with me in the back yard. Some times he becomes part of a obstacle.
@@dcreager3 eyy haha that’s clever. You really do have a tortoise? 😂 that’s awesome
That optic definitely needs some work. You were so close on some of those lines. Some weight redistribution, some inserts to help with grip and stability.
@@Matt-it8jh yeah that’s exactly the places I am wanting to upgrade first. Like I said, I just did the motor (that’s always one of my first upgrades) and I had the wheels and tires. I’m excited for the future of the optic
I traveled to my first comp in June. Me and a buddy have been hosting local comps. 3rd one is next weekend.
@@TJL_RC dude that’s awesome you just did you first in June and now your doing your own thing good on you!
@HobbyDrop thank you! I think I placed like 10th out of 15 in my first one. Learned a decent amount and then got back and decided to do free friendly comps to introduce it to our local rc community. Usually 10 or so people show up but it's been fun.
@@TJL_RC that’s nice! It keeps the length of time down. The only comps I’ve been to are like all day things cause there are so many drivers.(which is also cool, just different)
This is going to be fun!
Nice stable of rig you have there. Still only only one here. Will be watching. Stay safe, my friend. No comps Pro-Line will be my 1st
@@WandererOfTheDesert thanks! I’m impressed you have only had one this whole time haha. Good discipline:)
Slipper clutch...
@@PleasureAfterWorkRcCrawlers I’ll have to look that up, I’ve heard it a lot but not exactly sure what that means 😅shame on me
I had a similar issue with my buggy. It turns out it was my mesh on my dif. As soon as the overdrive caused the driveshaft to shift then my mesh would go out, shimmed my dif and driveshaft nice and tight and had no issues since. I make sure they have grease all the time, and that's about it. I was fine at home with our granite and low traction rock, it was not until I went to moab that it happened. I'm thinking the constant traction finally caused it to rare its head. Might be worth looking at if you have not already
9216 Darien Parkways
Do you have an overdriven front axle this mystery issue could be related to ? This may introduce a mechanical stress in the transmission only when both axles are connected. Remove the overdrive, for testing... I still love your videos. Nice crawl actions and relaxing voice.😊
@@vdel9036 thanks!! I do have the “stock” OD gears in in the trans. But nothing in the axle
The binding roll on the bench is from the overdrive. Do a nose manual roll or manual roll it will be fine. This is a very typical thing from rigs with o.d.
@@DesertRockCrawler dude that’s exactly what happens! Ok, so that kinda clears that up. Now the question is the chugging at other times 🤔
@HobbyDrop bring your laptop over with the programmer amd I'll help you tune the esc
@@DesertRockCrawler so good to me
I like this rig looks good I do have with the gears in my front end the drive shaft pulls the pinion gear from the ring gear had to shim it. as it runs. see yours is running. are you going to Proline? Stay safe my friend
@@WandererOfTheDesert thanks! I’m not, I got ish to get done 😂
@HobbyDrop Zak, I hope I spelled that right name is Mike. I was hoping to see you there going to try to meet some of the other TH-cam Crawlers I follow. Stay safe my friend
@@WandererOfTheDesert I add a c in there too. Zack. :) but it’s all good! Mike I hope you enjoy it, it would be cool to go, but it’s not in the cards this year.
About 80%, my Capra could do it. But right now, it's a pile of parts. Getting ready for Pro-Line. Stay safe, my friend
@@WandererOfTheDesert dude you gotta get that thing back together! :D thanks for the support
@HobbyDrop I'm working on it right now, heading to Pro-Line in 2 weeks
Great video, and gorgeous location, thank you
Do you run a bec? When i took the servo off my crawl master mini it helped alot. And i bet my trucks too wide for that ledge. I run capra axles under my redcat.
@@Matt-it8jh I think I’ve got issues with binding somewhere. I tore this rig apart with the motor disconnected and rolled it around….found a few issues but it still doesn’t roll smooth if both drive shafts are connected.
Some serious side hilling nice
If smaller pinion doesn’t fix it replace ur motor/ESC
@@Toodles77 my pinion is only like a 12 tooth I think. Would you go even smaller?
9 tooth pinion
My rig can easy 1 shot all thoes lines. Everyone knows this 😁😁😁😁😁😁
@@jasonlund4750 😂confidence is key
@@HobbyDrop very true. Lol hey u coming to proline by the fire??
@@jasonlund4750 nah not this year either haha
And if you are running a revolver did you 4-link the front?
@@nickbreen849 no I haven’t 4 linked the front. I have thought about it, but then I’d have to modify links and stuff too
@@HobbyDrop if it’s still stock links just order the stock front links again and you got the other side. On the stock chassis there is a hole to 4 link it
That chassis a direct bolt on for the ascent?
@@nickbreen849 not on purpose. Haha. I had a lot of help from Cameron (desert Rc himself). Cutting and drilling the chassis to make it work. But it’s all ascent parts!
I'm intrigued by your cogging issue. I'm running 4 of those Holmes systems and they don't cog at all, I've never even plugged in the programmer. Either your gearing is really bad or maybe you got a bad esc.
@@philthy5058 yeah I feel like there is something wrong with cause I’ve only heard good about these. But I’m struggling!
@HobbyDrop have you checked all your bearings?
@@thathobbyguy6135 in the axles? I mean, I guess I haven’t checked anything haha.
@HobbyDrop try taking the pinion off and Make sure the truck rolls smoothly
@@thathobbyguy6135 it should still have resistance tho right? Just cause it’s a revolver?
my terrain in the northeast is completely different, but I think my Power Wagon could hang 🤙🏼
@@NE_RC I believe that! Those power wagons tend to be nice builds :)
What is your final OD ratio? Are you happy w/that % or do you wish it was a little higher or lower?
Cool vid, thanks.
Do you like the Reaper or Poizd T3 better and why? Thanks!
@@Jsfea01 oh snap…..that’s a good question….hmm. The poizd is more unique and new, but the reaper is ol faithful. It’s more predictable and has better traction. Dang. Haha I don’t think I could say either way
Nice to see a video with a truck just put together and ran, Makes me feel normal it's how I show up to comps haha.
@@curtkelsey2136 haha yeah I prefer driving over wrenching so this is how I roll most of the time. 😂

Pretty sure your gearing is to high for that revolver man. I was having the same issue and dropped a couple teeth on the pinion and no more jitter, butter smooth motor now.
