Hello friend, I hope u are well! Happy thanksgiving What kind of shoes do I need for a steward department ? Thank u in advance 🙏
I been trying to hit you up i gotta a couple questions.. pls help
Can you live and eat at a merchant marine facility and get all your education done and then make payments if necessary?
I want to join merchant marine. I just retired at 56. I will work the lowest level job. I live in Florida. I do not want to take the classes. Did you have to get your dental checked and passed? I have my American passport. What should my next step be?
I know you did this video a long time ago but man I love this video talk about awesome heads up way to go
You such a positive energy
Whats the age limit? Also will the except someone with high blood pressure?
Hello Friend, I hope u are well. Quick question regarding steward position uniforms such shirt, shoes non slip resistant and apron ! Do the company provide all above or needs to be purchased ? Keep up great energy and thank u in advance 😎 🙏
How do. I get to. Come on board I'm a chef? I really wanna work on a ship
So there's nowhere in Massachusetts that has a union hall.
Do you have internet access?
Masculine energy😂😂😂😂
I hate overpacking. I know what I need/want and like to keep it at that. With this Piney Point list they gave us, plus having to pack for the first ship it has me way overpacked. LOL Oh well. Just the first time. Then i can pack how I want. Where is the ship going that you're jumping onto? Hope it is a good one for you! Still counting down the days until Jan 13th here... Haha
At least for ur first ship you can pretty much just wear ya pp uniform outfit to save some space and bring 2 extra outfits but you will never know where ur going until then last min. This vessel I'm on now goes to Ft L, Hou, & Puerto Rico sometimes other ports.
Cool cool! Do you like the shorter relief contracts or do you prefer to go do 3-4 months at a time to get it out of the way?
Great Question! After Covid I fell in love with the short contracts (anything under 80 days) I'm a happy sailor. I've done 3 6 month contracts back to back. Never again 😅 I'm less grumpy
@stuthesailor i get that. I imagine that I will be the same. Just looking forward to getting started. Class 919 Jan 2025
@ I love it!!! Your time is coming
I’ve heard of people failing drug test and losing their MMC. Is that just when you’re on a vessel or does it not matter? If you apply for a job and fail the drug test, will you still lose your MMC even if you weren’t ever on a boat? Doesn’t seem fair.
I'm not surprised at all...a little to much fun on vacation I see. Why do you think it's unfair? Most of these companies do randoms in the middle of the ocean as well. Some seaman will risk their careers and you will hear the stories. Unfortunately, the person who gave me this information years ago was kicked off his 3rd vessel for dirty urine. It doesn't matter if you are on or off a vessel once you're ready for employment you must pass the drug test.
@ I think if you fail a drug test and didn’t actually work then they shouldn’t touch your MMC. Go get clean and come back. Now if you fail a drug test right after or during a hitch I completely understand why your MMC is in jeopardy. We can’t prove you haven’t been high on the job. You aren’t punishing the alcohol consumers like this. You’re letting them go off the boat to drink then come back and do watch while actively on a contract.
@ agreed!! Especially with getting cleaned first
Oh noooooooo!
I think this would be a great job for me. Make my own schedule kinda thing. Work a few months take a month off etc?? How long are the contracts usually?
Sounds great! Contracts just depends. 20 days, 10 days, 50-90 days, 120 (4 months)
@@stuthesailor great. Thanks for the info.
@@JohnnieV your very welcome good luck to you
Since you're in Dallas, how do you get jobs with SIU? Do you fly/drive to Houston to pick up a new job? Do you have to fly out of Houston, or does the company pay for you to fly out of Dallas? Asking as I'm in Oklahoma now, starting in Jan 2025 at Piney Point. I'm planning on moving, but don't know how close I need to be to a hall.
So your close to the big D!!! Congratulations. Houston is my Union Hall. Because I don't have a vehicle I either rent a car, take Felix /greyhound (4hr drive ), or if I'm lucky enough I'm able to catch a flight which only takes 30 mins. I've been lucky to always walk out the day of with a job. Depending on my situation if I must I would stay a max of 3 days (just in case). They always fly me out of Dallas w no problems.
You can live anywhere but if your seriously thinking about moving look at Houston, Florida, or Tacoma…these are state tax-free states
@@stuthesailor cool! Thanks! Hopefully I see you out there. You seem fun to work around! Thanks for the videos
@@vorteco7692 so welcome!! Can't wait to meet ya
@@stuthesailor yeah I'm between Houston and Tampa right now. I went and checked out Tacoma this summer.
New video!!!!!!!!
Ikr 😂
Nice info. How hard is it to start working. Are jobs hard to get? I’m ready for something new. What jobs are out there besides catering food type?
@@JohnnieV It's not difficult to start working if you're ready for something new. In fact, it can be pretty exciting. You just need to apply for the right documents, such as a TWIC card, passport, and merchant marine credential. There are plenty of job titles to choose from in the engine and deck departments, so you have options besides working in the galley.
@ thanks Stu. I’m the guy from the pedicure place. I’m not young but I’m in pretty good shape. I’m 55
@@JohnnieVoh heeeeey age doesn't matter I'm sure you can move around better than the young folks 😊
What of you don’t eat shell fish or pork?
Its plenty other options and salad bar
Did they take any hair?
Just urine
Thats cool, hopefully ill be seeing you on board one day 💪🏾💯
☺️ @ I hope so its a pretty small industry what department your looking to start in
Do you have to go to school for this job it looks all military on some of these videos I hate the military back then I hate it now lol
You don't have to honestly
I have 1 question do you have to go to Piney Point Maryland for this school? It looks all military like and all.
If you want to,its your choice
I just got my nook back and I want to be a cook
Lets get it!!!!! 💪🏾 I know that food good 😂😂😂😂
Wow hun I mean I wished I would have thought about this years ago instead of factory and retail jobs.
Its not to late!!
I'm curious can you make close to 100 k a year on the entry level on the office video even though I know you all said the ship suck but just curious about the money at all
Hello Friend, it was nice meeting you yesterday at the Baltimore Hall station! Quick question, I am going to Jersey city hall station for an entry level position, I know someone that might help me out with accommodation but he is in jamaica NY which I believe is little far away taking train ! is there any good deal for housing near Hall station, maybe something that SIU work with ? Thank you in advance 🙏
Hello my friend!! I'm not to sure about housing there so sorry you might need to get a cheap hotel or airbnb for a while
@@stuthesailor thank u 🙏
How much can u actually make? And age don’t matter if u in your 40s or 50s ?
This girl is a h@m@sexual degener@te. Not welcome in Africa!
I'm 56 years old Wish I was younger so I could work on a ship
Its not to late sir
😂😂😂 Tell me you from Maryland without telling me
Hahahaha
That's so easy to make hehehe nice job
Sure is 😂
YEA BABY ! My next job.
Lets get it!!!
🔥🔥
Thank you
Did you have to get the covid shot? Or is that just all talk ?
Yes bro both of them unfortunately
@stuthesailor is it a must thing or is there talk about them changing that crap .. or is it more an International Hassel

Hey mate did you ever suffer cause of seasickness, i will work on ships too but so afraid of seasickness 😐
Nope not at all! What do you take for seasickness?
I know the Ships Officers sometimes bring their spouse along on the voyage. Is the Head Chef allowed to do that also?
That's new!! Never heard or seen that happened
