Grand Canyon Mule Wrangler ‘Tex’ first attempted to thru hike the Appalachian Trail in 2020 and made it 344 miles to Erwin, Tennessee before going home due to the pandemic. She started the hike over again on March 10, 2021 from Amicalola Falls, Georgia and successfully completed her journey atop Mount Katahdin on September 20th of the same year.
Since then, she’s returned to her job leading mule rides to the bottom of the Grand Canyon and goes hiking and backpacking as often as she can.

Been wanting to do this mule ride for a while. Hopefully this spring 2025 or summer?
Rode a Mule down into the Canyon in the 70's. Great memories. Going back one day. From Australia
I always wanted to go to this drive in. I never did.
Hoping to win a lottery for fall of 2026! What time does the ride start on day 1? Wondering if I need to plan for lodging the day before.
In September, you normally meet at the corral at 6:45am. Starting October 1st, it gets pushed back to 7:45am. Yes, you should book a room at the canyon or Tusayan for the night prior.
Been to the canyon twice, never knew about the fossils.
Thank you! How are the mules?
Thanks Tex. As a retired physical sciences teacher I appreciate the geology and fossils being pointed out. The GC is one of the classic examples used to teach sedimentation and geologic unconformities. I also appreciate the lack of music to highlight the serene and relaxing quality of a trail.
Wow, you're alive! And back on the TH-cam. Last I remember you took us down on mules, maybe 2 years ago? Frankly, with my fear of heights, I don't see how one can walk or ride down. But I appreciate you taking us nice and safely to the bottom. Last week, I read that 169 (unsure of exact number) people have died in GC, and it's easy to see why that might be. Even though I never left the top, being there is still one of the highlights of my 68 years. Again, thanks for this. I loved it!
Thanks for sharing
Very kool video. Its good to see that you're still hiking. Happy Trails. Good Luck, Rick
Beautiful, Love your videos!! Thanks for sharing!! At 71 I could get down, but couldn’t get back out!! 😅 Nice to see it on the Tele!!
Thanks Tex! Our family, including grandkids and family friends with kids will be hiking the SK to Phantom over Thanksgiving for the first time and this provides a great primer. Love your videos!
We were hiking this 2 weeks ago this trail in our way to PR .beautiful place.thank you for sharing
You are the best! Thanks for being us along 😊
I'm happy you are doing videos again. The scenery on this trail is beautiful. Thanks !!!
I wish I had seen this before I hiked this last year. I love fossils! And I wish I known about the ones you had in your video. I had a nice sit on the rock @14:10 I think it should be called "Sit Rock".
Hi Tex. We hiked the Clear Creek Trail on 10/22 & 23/2024 based on this video. We saw a Bighorn Ram while going out. On 10/25 I saw you just above 3 Mile Resthouse leading a group down to HG and said hello. It was a challenging hike but the views were cool and Clear Creek was an oasis. Thanks for the great recommendation.
Brings tears to my eyes...seeing the mules treated with such dignity...so well cared for...Thqnk You !-
Loved the video and others mentioned the history. I hiked after a stroke and being half paralyzed for a while and did a video of it. I'm gonna try this with 5 people .Specifically I am researching the hike and cant find any actual location markings on maps or description of aprox mile markers. I see you mention this:" Two large trailside cairns mark the first legal camping on the west end of the Clear Creek Use Area. Cant tell exactly where on the trail they are though. Can you provide any info on this? Thxs
It is two miles on the Clear Creek trail to get to the cairns where camping becomes legal.
I did this mule trip when I was a teenager in 1967. Doesn't look like its changed much. My mule collapsed, but I was unharmed. As an adult, I hiked down to the ranch. Either way, a great experience! Andy
So fun reliving my visit there in the 90s. "E. W. Razey" was there then so yeah it's 1904. Google shows a newspaper mention of him living in Illinois in 1912 so he survived the climb back down.
Thanks for the awesome video.
Hey there. My next section and interested to know where you purchased the tent anchors? Thanks and happy trails.🤘🏻🥾⛰️
I got them on Amazon a.co/d/bAhPwuI
What wonderful illuminations on consistency and resilience you shared here. So very proud of you Lisa on accomplishing this! I love this video.
Happy Belated B-Day.
Looks like that little rain you talked about was not that little up river of Beaver Falls.
I’m curious as to how someone managed to bring that ladder through the tunnels..
The village has a helicopter, so I’d imagine they flew it in.
How did I missed your channel. It’s a goldmine. Thanks. This will definitely be on my list to hike. Subscribed.
I hope TEX still works there when I visit Grand Canyon, plan to do a mule ride.
ok, I thought mule were feed hay like horses. Never knew they eat grains.
I rode down (and up) in February of 22 and I'd hiked the canyon half a dozen times previously and I could not agree more let the mules are not the easy way down. If I was to rate them I would say 50/50. Riding and hiking are both strenuous, you just have different aches and pains at the end of the day. The only hints that I had not received prior to going were the possibility of "runners bladder". Not a serious condition, but definitely startling. Luckily for me it didn't occur until the end of the ride when I was able to look up the issue immediately.
The very pretty lady ( Tex ? ) who leads the walk is also riding a very beautiful mule , from what origins and birth did this pretty mount , please ? do you always organize these walks ?
Your content is amazing. I'm doing this loop in November and can't wait to experience it with all these new fun facts. :) Thank you so much!
👋🏻
The roller coaster has so many ups and downs because of all of the private land owners in that section. The trail had to navigate some funky property lines.
I know I am a few years late, and I don’t know if you will see this comment. But I just binge watched your hike, and it was better than any movie or show I’ve seen in a long time. But the best part is that it was real! I just completely bawled my eyes are watching your last video and your summit. A super big congratulations!! ❤ My husband and I want to through hike the AT when he retires right before 2030, so I have a few years…but I’m ready to go now! Haha! We live near the roller coaster in Virginia, so we have done a few overnight hikes. I am going to hopefully hike like you, where I soak it all in, appreciate it for the good and bad, and talk to all the animals! Again, congratulations. And thank you so much for taking the time and effort to put this series of vlogs together. It was so beautifully done, and I learned so much. I’m sure I will watch it again in the next few years and use it as a guide for our own hike! 🎉😊 -Laura E in Loudoun County, Virginia
Thank you for the sweet comment! I’ve also binge watched others’ thru hikes, so it means a lot that you enjoyed mine. ☺️ Enjoy y’all’s planning phase! That’s a lot of fun in itself. Wishing you all the best!!!!
Nice to see you. I was talking to Goob about you as he hiked through the AZT. He was behind you on the AT. Nice RV. Nice video. Good Luck, Rick
So good to see ya. Thanks for taking us along with ya.❤
Great to see you again Lisa. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for sharing your adventures! Hopefully my wife and I can ride the canyon again with you someday
Good to see you again (AT via TH-cam)…thanks for sharing your trip!🙂🙏
Nice breath of fresh air,,,,thanks for sharing.
I'm headed that way next week!
Nice. We love that park too. See you back at the Canyon!
Nice, nice adventure. Love your lamp.
Awesome! OCD level organisation - just like I love :D This is a very good list, not trying to shed every gram - giving up on items and regretting it later, I salute you! :) Definitely going to check my list against yours later before my hike to make sure I have all I need.
is the treacherous climb the only way down to the falls?
Super
👋🏼
Nice video. When we look at the Grand Canyon we see many horizontal layers on top of each other but close-ups of these layers also show that they are completely separated from each other and the layers look rather homogeneous. How is this possible? Each layer is the effect of a recurring natural disaster, a huge tidal wave that is pulled over the planet, that is caused by a celestial body that circles our sun in an eccentric orbit. A thick layer of homogeneous mud remains on our planet. The many earth layers are solid proof for this recurring disaster. Those natural disasters occur in a cycle of seven and create a cycle of five civilizations. The longest living civilization lives no more than 10,800 years. Nonsense? No, ancient knowledge and that knowledge is supported by many depictions that we find in museums on statues, cylinder seals, coins etc. The last time that this celestial body, planet X or nine, was seen and depicted was just before our era. We explain much more about planet 9, the recurring flood cycle and its timeline, the rebirth of civilizations and ancient advanced technology in the e-book: "Planet 9 = Nibiru". It shows abundant and convincing evidence both in text and many depictions. It can be read on any computer, tablet or smartphone. Search: planet 9 roest
