So watching these videos has resulted in me developing quite a crush on Mr. Peter Jackson. I'm practically blushing when he comes on screen now. It's embarrassing, but it cannot be helped. Hopefully it begins to wane soon. I haven't felt this way about a celebrity since, the one and only, Mr. Michael Jackson. 💖
Anyway, thanks for joining me on the couch for this musical installment of Behind-The-Scenes delight. I'll see you all again next week with Part 1 of "The Making Of Fellowship Of The Ring". Until next time, Let's Flow! 🎬
Thanks for watching my fellow Tubie’s. ❤️ Please keep in mind that a lot gets trimmed out of my edited videos due to copyright claims.

I think Tommy was slowly dying from the skin walking thing, the beating finished him off.
Dang, thanks for reminding me of this wonderful show. I haven't received a comment about True Blood in a while. That skin walking theme was so trippy to me. I didn't like his death though. I would've just preferred him to leave Bon Temps. But, then again, I never wanted anyone to die on this show. Thanks for watching.
Marnie is also Harry Potter's aunt Petunia
Oh, it's been so long since I've seen Harry Potter that I forgot. But let me just say, she played the hell out of Marnie from beginning to end.
King of the Dead: We fight! Aragorn: Then what was with all the skulls?! King of the Dead: Gift to our new friends ... What, you don't like skulls? Aragorn, Gimli & Legolas: ????
Lmao...I was so mad. They put us through all of that trauma just to join us in battle after all. I don't understand. I think an avalanche of skulls is a bit much. But I'm glad they joined us nevertheless. We needed them.
This doco is part of why these movies have such a passionate fan base.. we have seen the journey of such a massive production... probably the biggest that ever will be and they loved and respected tolkiens story and wanted to do it justice but wanted to please a general movie goer... This is movie making magic
That makes perfect sense. These documentaries are exceptional. I'm wondering, did you expect the Appendices to be so wonderful, or did you think they'd be like an average documentary quality? I have to say, I've been truly blown away by this entire production so far.
I was obsessed with anything to do with these movies when i was young... i watched the movies these docos non stop 😅 the movies also have like 4 sets of commentarys you can watch the film with the cast... directors and writers.. effects crew all giving their memories of the shots as they happen. Really shows the depth of the production.. what an experience for them all
Yes indeed. I'll be doing reactions to every piece of BTS and extras that I can get my hands on (God Willing). I understand your obsession with this epic masterpiece. Even the Appendices are exceptional.
...I'm like that too: give me anything around those movies and middle earth lore, and I happily and greedily take it... probably still whispering that on my death bed 🤣
Oh, yeah. I'll probably be in the middle of a rewatch, reread, or both.
Lmao! That is too good of a visual and it so captures how I'm feeling about this epic saga.
Wow. My goodness, there are so many people who are enveloped in this realm. It's so amazing. I feel right at home.
I love that you're doing this! I'll watch them all with you and then rewatch the movies, if you want to do that. This was a true labor of love for so many, wasn't it? And the result is a true masterpiece. (Still no super thanks)
Hi. Yes, I mentioned in another comment that I'm considering recording my first re-watch of LotR. I know that most folks aren't interested in a re-watch reaction, but I think my newfound BTS knowledge would make for some interesting commentary. I'll take the time to edit it if I can get at least 100 people interested in viewing. If not, I'll just watch it on my own and tell y'all how it went. ;) Btw, I realize now that the Super Thanks option does not appear on the videos in which the Ad revenue has been claimed by the owner. The videos that you were able to leave a Super Thanks on did not have any claims on them. Most of my Ad revenue is claimed, which is the reason I have a Patreon and TH-cam memberships. Fortunately, next week's video: "The Making Of FOTR" will have the Super Thanks option available, since the revenue was not claimed. I appreciate you taking the time to bring this issue to my attention. Have a good day and night.
It’s so much fun to see someone else become obsessed with these films and the amazing amount of dedication and work that went into them. I’m so glad you’re enjoying them. Definitely rewatch them. I’ve lost track of how many times I’ve seen them, and I still notice new things. One of my favorite LOTR memes: Everyone: There’s no way anyone can turn nine people and a pony coming around a rock into one of the most epic shots in cinema. Howard Shore: Hold my beer. This doesn’t really have anything to do with LOTE, but I’d love to see your reactions to ROP Season 2.
Like you, I've watched the movies many times and still occasionally notice something I'd never noticed before.
Haha! I love it. If that ain't the truth, I don't know what is. Talk about an epic scene. Whew! In an upcoming video, you'll see my confusion and utter dismay as I realize the pony was actually played by two people. Lord Have Mercy. That blew my mind! Anyway, I cannot tell you just how much watching these Appendices is going to enrich my first re-watch of LOTR. I may actually record myself watching with my newfound BTS awareness as apart of the commentary. If I can get at least 100 folks to watch, then I'll do it. Otherwise I'll just watch it alone in my pajamas, in my bed, eating snacks. (Like I used to do before reaction videos lol). Thanks so much for watching so far. I know it's been a lot of videos, and there are so many more to go.
This documentary is making me antsy. I can't wait to re-watch the FotR again. It's going to be so wonderful with all of this BTS knowledge that I now have. I'm so glad you all encouraged me to watch these videos.
@@flowstatereactions I'll watch your rewatch if you post it.
Btw, all full-length videos of RoP Season 1 are on Patreon. I haven't watched Season 2 yet, but I will, and yes, I will still record it even thought there isn't a huge demand for it. But it's good to see another person who enjoyed RoP. You're like maybe the 6th person to express a genuine interest in watching. Lol. So many people dislike the series for a number of reason, but since I watched it first, I have a unique perspective. I didn't have the LotR to compare it to, so I thought it was fantastic. (Shhh...don't tell anyone lol)
I would have loved just being a floor sweeper during the making of these movies!!
😂🤣 You're so cute. "I wonder what Peter's doing?" 🤔😅 I really wanted to be part of this family when I first watched it. Even if I was just a seamstress on the team, or the person ordering food everyday. You can see the magic happening with the production and desperately wished you were part of it.
Lol thank you. I was going to cut it out, but I mention the crush so many times in the upcoming videos, that I had to leave it in. Otherwise I'd be cutting some good scenes out. It's embarrassing, but I'm glad you get it. Just like you, I would've assisted this production team in whatever way I could. I even mentioned in one of the upcoming videos that I would've been content to be in the orchestra playing a violin. It's just so heart-warming and inviting.
@flowstatereactions my crush was Éomer. 😂 I loved the fellowship and was totally crushing on Legolas but when Éomer showed up in Two Towers...Idk..he's just so my type. 😂😍 The actor Karl Urban is such a success story too! I think he's one of the more successful ones coming out of lotr, even more so than Orlando Bloom.
@@SeeliaVachon I love Karl Urban as McCoy in the Star Trek reboots
So you dumped Legolas for Eomer? I don't know why that thought tickles me, but I get it lol
Sound Designers: So Pete, we need the Ringwraiths to sound like a nightmare... just the most skin-crawling, unbearably unpleasant noise you can think of... Peter Jackson: Let's make them sound like my wife screaming at me.
Yikes lol
😂😂😂😂😂😂
🤣
It is bitter sweet isn't it? The journey is often better than the destination.
Yes indeed. I second that notion :)
So watching these videos has resulted in me developing quite a crush on Mr. Peter Jackson. I'm practically blushing when he comes on screen now. It's embarrassing, but it cannot be helped. Peter Jackson and that time period and all these people getting together. It was lightening in a bottle. I doubt Hollywood will ever be able to catch it again. So we got to appreciate it, even though as a Tolkien fan I have many objections to how things were done regarding Faramir, Denethor, Gimli as comic relief - the overall results are movie magic.
"Lightening in a bottle." It's a saying that I don't hear much, but it definitely applies here. It was all so magical. I can't wait to read the books so that I may have more information to make comparisons. I look forward to it.
@@kahinaloren A Hollywood studio may have underwrote the movie, but it was a crew of mostly New Zealanders, with a New Zealander director, who gave the vision reality. Probably one of the reasons it was such a success...less interference by big money.
It would seem you have a thing for men named Jackson...
I didn't know that Peter is a New Zealander. I'm so happy they gave him so much control over his vision for the films.
I have loved these vids by you. Both your reaction and the vids. Thank you.
Aww you're quite welcome. It's been so much fun reacting to these vids. Thanks for watching :)
Will you also do the appendices for the other two movies?
Yes, to my surprise, there are many more playlists and extras and fan works that I've been advised (mostly by @makkaru112) to do reactions to. This person has been extremely helpful to me. I would never have recorded these reactions without them. I'm so glad that I did. Like I've said many times before, I was not expecting to be so thoroughly entertained. According to @makkaru112 I will have enough new content to last for another year or two on my channel. Of course I'll react to other tv shows and movies, but I'll also have a LotR Behind-The-Scenes niche, if you will. As long as at least 100 folks are willing to watch it, I'll record it. ;) Otherwise, I'll just watch it on my own in the comfort of my pajamas, with my hair all over my head, eating popcorn and cake. (Like I used to before I started filming myself. Lol.) Anyway, I hope you enjoy Thursday's installment of our Behind-The-Scenes shenanigans.
@@flowstatereactionsbtw, there are some recordings of JRRT reading from his own work. Those would be worth listening to, and I would love to see and hear you do that. I think they are available on youtube, even if there is no video of JRRT. I'll look around and link it.
@@flowstatereactions th-cam.com/video/nkCZAPw81qs/w-d-xo.html
Perfect. I'll get around to these recordings as well. It may be a while, since the BTS are so long, but it'll be done (God Willing). I'll be in Middle Earth for quite some time.
I bought the extended DVD's as soon as they came out. I never bought the theatrical release. The extended editions are the ones I prefer, as a long time resident of Middle Earth.
Yeah that makes sense to me especially since I just watched a few of the deleted scenes that were in the playlist. I kept saying "I can't believe they cut this out," during each new scene. I mean seriously, what was left in the movie if all of these scenes were cut? It was truly surprising. Lol. My god, they didn't even have the scene where the Elves were traveling in the middle of the forest. It was such a magical, ethereal scene. They even cut out the fireworks scene with Merry and Pippin, and the conversation between Gandalf and Frodo about Bilbo. What in the world? I've only scene about 7 of the deleted scenes so far, but my goodness, it's such a shock to me that the theatrical version was still so beloved even without these scenes. It really says a lot about the story of Frodo and the Ring. Making it "Frodo-centric" really worked.
I love watching you watch this. Your enthusiasm, your amazement, your emotional participation are great. If you are ever in South Dakota, I would love to meet up and just talk Tolkien with you over tea. When I watched the movie for the first time, and Gandalf topped out on the hill and looked out over Hobbiton, I felt as though I had come home. It was what I had read and where I had visited for all those years from 1978 on. And when Bilbo came out, I knew it was him. You talk about the reality of LotR--When I was in high school I told my mom that if Bilbo walked through our door, I would not be surprised at all. I would know him immediately. My head might be surprised, but my heart wouldn't. Because I had been looking at Tolkien Art for many years, when I heard that Alan Lee and John Howe were involved in the movie, I knew the visuals were going to be good. (I actually started my own illustrations for Tolkien's world when I was in grade school.)
Sir, I must say that I do not have anyone in my life who would be willing to talk Tolkien over tea. If I'm ever in the area (you never know) I'd love to chat it up with you. Once I read the books, I'm going to be considered amongst even the most die-hard fans. I'm late to the Middle Earth party, but you all are making me feel like I'm right on time with your encouraging comments. The fact that you have the same sentiment about the reality of LotR makes me feel validated in a way. Because I truly feel like these movies are a telltale of a pivotal time in our actual history. No one will ever be able to convince me otherwise. The fact that you would not have been surprised if Bilbo had walked through the door really captures what I've been feeling all along. Thank you for sharing this with me. It's been a few months since I posted my reaction to LotR, so I don't receive many comments about people's initial experiences with the movies anymore. Our few interactions have really touched me. There is something so comforting and wonderful about shared sentiment. Thanks for watching. Have a good day and night.
My dad read me the books when I was in 1st grade. I read them in 3rd grade. Since then I have spent much time in Middle-Earth.I have read it many times. I have started reading clubs. I have read them to my kids. I did an MA on part of JRRT's writings. Middle Earth is a great place to grow up.
Okay, you are definitely one of the most devoted Tolkien fans that I have encountered so far. Your entire life has been essentially permeated by Middle Earth. I have to say that I find this to be fascinating, and I'm sure our fellow LotR fans would agree. The movies alone have touched my consciousness deeply. It's the reason I'm now reacting to these Appendices, and the reason I will continue to react to all extras about LotR, and even some exceptional fan work. Of course reading the books is on my list as well. What a treat to be introduced to this world at such a young age. What a unique and enriched way to grow up. You must've been beside yourself in anticipation when the first movie was released. My god sir, what a journey you have lived. Thanks for sharing that tidbit with me. It made me smile from ear to ear. I hope you have a good day/night. :)
@@flowstatereactions When word of the movies came out, my bulletin board at school (I was a teacher) was filled with images from the internet. I wore my chain mail armor on opening nights of all three movies. When Two Towers came out, my wife gave birth to our second daughter that morning, and I was in the theater that night (with her kind permission.) I love watching people like you discover JRRT.
OMG! Your comments are just too damn good. Showing up at the theater for opening night just really takes the cake. I love how supportive your wife was. That must've been one emotionally high day for you. First the birth of your daughter, and then the viewing of the Two Towers. It's just too cosmic for words. I'm going to have to do a video about everyone's stories about their experiences with the LotR because there are many very extraordinary occurrences that have been left in the comments. Your words however, may be the best. Just wonderful. :)
@@flowstatereactions Okay, get ready. Here is the full story... One evening in April (I think) I returned home from church where I was a youth group leader at the time. My wife said to me, "of all the nights to come home late!" I was flummoxed. She hadn't told me not to stay after, and I loved hanging with the kids and other leaders. I said, "Why?" She said, "What are you doing December 18?" "Going to The Two Towers," I said. (Like duh!) "You might have to change your plans," she responded. "Why?" I asked. Obviously there is nothing that would keep me from that movie on opening night. "Sam! I'm pregnant!" "Oh! How was I supposed to know that's what you were talking about? You didn't even tell me you had bought a test or anything." Time passed and the fateful day of manifold excitement drew close. I bought myself the ticket for the movie. The day before I told my students, I might meet you at the theater tomorrow night, and I might not. Jon, (one who wanted to go, but hadn't bought tix for opening night) here's the ticket. If Shelbi doesn't have the baby tomorrow, just give me back the ticket in school." My second daughter was born the next morning. I called school with the announcement, and included "Jon, put my ticket in my teacher's mailbox, I'll pick it up later."
That night I sat in chainmail with my friend Chris. He had not heard that the baby was born, and asked how my wife was doing. "She had the baby this morning," I said and gave him the details. The woman of the couple in front of us turned around and said, incredulously, "Your wife had a baby, and you're here to watch a movie?!" "Yes. She had the baby this morning. She doesn't need me right now. She doesn't mind." A week later my wife and I watched Two Towers with my one week old baby. (gotta start her off right.) Fast forward one year. Chris, and my wife, and I are sitting in the theater for Return of the King. My wife says, "One year ago I was in the hospital having given birth." The woman of the couple in front of us turned around. It was the same woman! and said, "You didn't mind that he was here when you were in the hospital?" My wife said, "I had already had the baby. I was well taken care of. I didn't mind at all that he went to the movie.
Love that you're doing these! Amazing how much effort went into making what you correctly call "magical". I imagine that you put about the same effort and attention to detail into making your videos, right? I was going to chip in a little to buy you a pint or two at the Prancing Pony, but it doesn't give me the Thanks option. What's up with that? Anyway, I will definitely continue to join with you. I will follow you into the very fires of Mordor! As long as I don't have to get off the couch...
Guess who got her to react to these? And who provided the information to find Pajasek99’s playlist ? 😅❤ I’ve been encouraging her in several things since day one❤
Hi there. Thanks for joining me again. :) Yes, there is a great deal of effort that went into making the LOTR films. I'm so deeply impressed by the dedication of the entire production team. It takes me about 1 hour to edit 10-15 minutes of footage for TH-cam, so a 45 minute video can take about 3 to 4 1/2 hours to edit. For me, the editing is a fairly simple process, but it is quite time consuming. The editors of LOTR had to face what I consider an impossible feat since they were faced with endless hours of footage. I can totally relate to the man who said he went home after a particularly trying editing session. LOL. I'm so glad they included that snippet in the Appendices. It really drives home the stress level of their daunting tasks.
BTW, I'm not sure why the Super Thanks option isn't available. But, I will look into it. Thanks for bringing it to my attention, and thanks for continuing to join me on this spectacular journey. Have a good day/night. 🙏🏾
This is true. I would never have recorded myself watching the Appendices if you hadn't insisted. I probably would've just watched them by myself, and then I would've regretted not doing reactions to the videos because they turned out to be super fantastic! Thanks again my friend. ❤️
Another round of Behind-The-Scenes videos down, another few hundred rounds to go. Lol. I'm actually quite happy that there is just so much Behind-The-Scenes footage and LotR extras to keep me entertained in Middle Earth for at least the next year or two. I'm not leaving until I've seen all of the extras y'all. I hope you continue to join me on my beloved Lord Of Rings journey, no matter how long it takes. Until next time, Let's Flow! 🎬
just to let you know its rumored that in the anverisary verison of lord of the rings that is coming up there be even more added scenes than in the present extended verison. great reaction!
Oh my, I sure hope so. Thanks for watching :)
@@flowstatereactionsplease react to that ! You can count on me!
If you're confussed with the editorial part is that, you shoot many takes on one day on the same actors in a row. Youhave to do several takes because it's not likely that you as an actor get the take right the first time. Even if you're great enough actor to not flubb takes or do mistakes such as like Christopher Lee stumbled on his robe everytime he tried to get up the steps to his throne, you got to hit the timing, pace and performance just the way the director wants it. Remember from earlier videos that Peter Jackson is a bit of perfectionist who wants the actors to say some lines in certain ways, a certain word in a line in one manner or another. Acting can be quite difficult sometimes so often a lot of taakes are required to get it right. Also when you film shots, you film actors in different types of shots such as close -ups on their faces, a half shot, a whole shot or even from distance or from different angles, as even if you do storyboards, a director might change his or her mind about how it should look, so it's often best to shoot many different versions to chose from. Also, actors may try different ways to perform a scene. Ian Holm performed Bilbo in many different ways, so that Jackson could chose which performance he want to use. That's why there are so many times in editorial (probably it wasn't all as they filmed it a lot during five days from different angles, as they were many characters, includding the scale doubles (plus they had to comp in the Hobbit actors and John Rhys-Davis with Mortensen Bean, Bloom and McKellen for the shot when the whole Fellowship is in the shot). Also, about how the on-set sounds are different from the movie, because of background noises or that the microphones don't always pcik on the sounds (or if the director wants to change the performances of the character voices or if a character should have a different voice from the actor, like Darth Vader in Star Wars, they had James Earl Jones dub over David Prowse voice, as it wasn't intimidating enough for Vader), you rerecord the actors' voices to dub them so they sound clean and to improve the performance. The process is called Audio Dialouge Replacement or ADR.
Let me just say that I appreciate your comment. It was quite detailed and informative. You're right that Peter Jackson is a bit of a perfectionist, so the amount of footage that the editors had to work with must've been overwhelming, to say the least. It took me a minute to figure out what was going on in the "Putting It All Together" video. But once I did, I was completely mesmerized. IMO, the fact that the editors were able to scour through endless hours of footage and piece together our movie scenes in such a flawless way, is nothing short of miraculous. I cannot emphasize enough just how impressed I am with the entire editorial process. The fact that they showed us just a glimpse of it is so generous to me. I just watched a few more videos this morning, and I must say that the quality of this documentary has not diminished in the slightest. Everything is fascinating to me. I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one. :)
As the audience we hear the score which carries us through the scenes....the actors are in silence - incredible.
Yes indeed. I just finished recording myself watching the "Soundscapes of Middle Earth" video this morning. The amount of effort, creativity and foresight that went into the score is phenomenal too. Just marvelous!
There are supposedly 1300 hours of film shot for the three movies and I would give anything for it to all be released. I don't care that much of it isn't finished for the theater, I just want to see it all. 😂
The brief vision that Frodo saw in Galadriel’s mirror of Hobbiton under siege was footage that had been shot to depict The Scouring of the Shire, which was ultimately dropped even from the extended editions. Would love to have seen just how much was actually shot of that rather pivotal chapter in the book.
Same here my friend, same here ;)
I just finished recording myself watching a few more videos from the playlist. I feel as if I could watch lost footage of the LOTR for the rest of my life lol
It’s been released and set up into a super extended edition that hit some theatres already. A few good channels already went deep into this topic regarding the extra footage ! It’s also why so many videos and shorts show extra Bernard Hill BTS shots as he was supposed to end up in the documentary disc!
@@flowstatereactionsI’ll let you know later on of a video that goes into the extra footage topic.
Hey, hey everyone. In addition to being a TH-cam reactor, I also enjoy putting together fun promotional packages for budding and professional writers/artists. I can replace the image of your book or album cover with any of the images in my collection of promotional materials. If you don't have a cover, then I will be happy to design one for you. Be sure to check out the Community Tab for more information. I thank you kindly for your attention and support. Until next time, Let's Flow! 🎬 #bookteaser #bookpromotion
Discord is where I can direct you to your next videos to react to with immeasurable ease! I’ll send screenshots too with the videos with numbers written on them so you know which in the screenshot is watched first. ❤
Ok thank you. I'll do that once I finish these playlists. It's gonna be a while, since I still have a lot of videos left to go.
@@flowstatereactions that’s just how amazing LOTR truly is. Everything that was great took huge inspiration from Peter Jackson trilogy and the many books. ❤️
There is where I can send you links to LOTR lore videos and so forth like we've been been suggesting. Makes it all hugely easy for you!
Drocsid is where I have my big LOTR server that I created!
To answer your question: I call it drocsid because if I say the app name the comment gets automatically deleted
Drocsid (reverse it) app
Add greatwhitelionking on drocsid
If you want access to more rare BTS videos of LOTR you’ll need Drocsid
Why are you calling it Drocsid?
@@flowstatereactions because TH-cam automatically deletes comments using the name of its competitor
Oh ok. I didn't realize that.
I supposed that the ogres & trolls non-corrupted ancestors were some type of humanoid nocture animal; like Gigantophitecus or the giant land Sloths, the corruption of Melkor/Morgoth gifts some Intelligence, but with the curse of always fearing of the Sun’s rays that become the dead for their corrupted bodies. Hence why they turn to stone. Which ties to the whole thing where Manwë decreed after the war of wrath where essentially anything of Morgoth to walk under the skies again will have Justice done upon them, and dreaded the Maiar spirits (eagles). Which is also why the last balrog remained hidden within Moria ad he didn’t know if the war had been truly fully over as he fled a long time ago. Tolkien says that the corruption that Morgoth did with Orcs(Elves), trolls and Dragons from some sort of preexisting life form was the thing that most offend and horrifying offence to the world itself and to Eru illuvatar, (the one allfather), because not only do these evil entities only create chaos and damage, but also for Morgoth to have made them with defective Bodies, that hurt them and force them to live miserable and horrible lives that cannot be easily helped.
The nature of life seems to be a balance between the beautiful and the grotesque, the Light and the dark, the flow and the resistance. Tolkien's keen spiritual awareness is prevalent throughout the Light/Shadow themes that appear in all of the movies. I find his insights on this to be profound, and I love that in the end of all of his sagas, the Light always prevails, no matter what.
Oh yes, the rapidly rising river with the “water horses” was definitely intentional. It’s straight from the book.
Yeah, it's a rather imaginative idea. I don't think that my mind registered the outline of the horses when I watched it. Soooo wonderful to see it in draft form.
It is amazing how much work and thought went into making these wonderful movies. So much attention to the smallest details which make the whole thing come alive and be real for us viewers.
Absolutely. I cannot believe how impressive this whole process was. It was a labor of love and passion that produced this kind of miracle.
soooo... at this point, you must see the other films BTS , right? they are very rich too (you must see Gollum, of course), and sometimes very emotional :D
Lmao...is that your way of telling me to move on to The Hobbit BTS? ;) There are still some videos left in this playlist that I'm interested in checking out. But I will definitely watch The Hobbit BTS. Actually, I'll be watching a lot of LOTR extras and fan videos, so I'll be in Middle Earth for a while.
@flowstatereactions no no, I'm talking about the two towers and the Return of the king! There are similar disks for that, covering a lot of interesting things. The BTS of The Hobbit I think it would be like "yeah, we used CGI for this, and for that, and CGI there, too"
Yeah, I realized after I sent the response that I may have jumped to the wrong conclusion about your comment. This playlist of FotR is soooo fascinating, I don't even know how my mind is going to take learning about all of the other movies. It's just too much goodness for my little heart to take. I may implode into a puddle of delight by the end of this BTS marathon lol. Btw, your brief description of The Hobbit BTS videos is hilarious. :)
What they meant with the "I think I see light at the end of the tunnel." "No, it's not. It's the train." is that Weta Digital had so many shots to do in such short time in order to have the movie finished for the premiere (back then before movies were digitalized and could be sent through The Internet, they had to print the movies on film rolls and send them to hundreds of movie theaters throughout the world, so they had to take that in consinderation), so it was quite stressful for them. Note that this is a walk in the park compared to the post-production of Return of the King, that was among the most stressful movie post-prodcutions ever in history but you'll see more about it when you get to The Return fo the King Appencies in the documentary The End of ALL Things, you'll see what I'm talking about. 😉
Ok, that makes sense. They were under a serious time crunch. I don't know why, but it just adds even more amazement to this production since they were working on this until the very last second. Whew!
Hey, hey everyone. Thank you for deciding to spend a little more time with me as I watch the Behind-The-Scenes action of our beloved Lord Of The Rings. I was hesitant to record my reactions at first, but my goodness, I am now so glad that I did. I wasn't expecting to be blown away by these videos, so I'm glad that others can share in my amazement. This digital process was simply amazing. I'll see you all again next week with another video. Until then, Let's Flow! 🎬 #lotrfan #appendices
Peter Jackson misremember the scene with The Watcher in the book as it was more than one tentacle, there were several. We don't get to see the rest of its body, though, unlike the movie, so that was elaborated on.
Oh that's interesting. They did a great job creating the entire creature. I was so engrossed in the scene, that I totally forgot about special effects. As far as I'm concerned, The Watcher, actually exists lol
$300,000,000 in 1999 = $561,463,087.25 in 2024.......costs were less expensive in New Zealand.....still, the movies had to make huge box office to be profitable.....they did. Coming up with all of the technical ways to capture flame, water, sound etc. is mind boggling.....some terrifically talented people.
Thanks for bringing clarity and perspective to the issue of the budget. I had not considered the lower cost of living in New Zealand as well as the value of the US dollar 25 years ago. Also, I was rather speechless about the ways that they were able to capture those elements and put them together digitally to create those effects. I agree, it was absolutely mind-boggling.
There are dozens of LOTR movie reactions and it's wonderful you're looking into the making of it all. The miniature FX are my favourite parts, dubbed the 'bigatures'.
Oh I just saw that one recently. It was marvelous. The fact that they often built models of Middle Earth that were the size of the building it had to fit inside of...whew! I'm so thoroughly impressed with these Appendices. Thanks for watching. :)
