Hi, I'm Conor. I make QPR previews, reactions, interviews and features.
Late Norwich goal sees points shared | Norwich City 1-1 QPR reaction + Watford preview
QPR were minutes away from securing their first Carrow Road victory since 2008 on Sunday afternoon, but Marcelino Nunez’s 89th minute strike meant that Marti Cifuentes’ side had to settle for a point on the road in their final away trip of 2024.

What the stats tell us about QPR's season so far
Hoopsa: thanks for your excellent summaries this year. And, of course, Marti is our best asset.
Going for a positive 2-0 to start 2025 ,congrats on your subscribers, Hoopsa well deserved ,u R`s
I don't want to blame Ashby, but him sending it back to varane instead of hoofing it up the side cost us 2. But i really want to keep ashby to the right and have jimmy in left centre. Asby did fair work and will learn I'm sure. And for 80 minutes he did enough and will keep up good defence and runs on the side along smyth.
I agree, it was probably Ashby’s best appearance until that. His decision making on the ball is a bit iffy though.
Found you around the Marti announcement a bit over a year ago, trying to figure out who we had appointed, probably watched every video since! Keep it up, fantastic content, especially the Hayden and Warburton interviews.
Thanks mate, really appreciate your continued support!
Love your channel Hoopsa. Anymore interviews with ex players lined up? Happy new year and keep up the great content..
Hopefully some more in the new year mate! Happy New Year bud
I know it was a late goal , but we had no shots on target and had to rely on an OG. Im pleased Fox had a better game alongside Dunne as we may need these two at the back for the forseeable. we need either cook or morrison back asap tho casue we are bound to miss them. and is JCS fit or not ??? its annoying casue just as players are starting to get back to fitness we lose a couple. Jack is another one that we could do with an update on because originally he was back for mid december. next two games will be tough and you know they are going to try to exploit our makeshift defence so they will need to be at 100%
That is good about your subscribers I agree about the norwich game we played to deep and passing it around the back is so dangerous for us we should have attacked them in the second half happy new year to you
Thank you Keith, and to you mate
some observations: Why have we got more muscle injuries than seemingly any other club? Why do we waste so many dead ball situations, with no invention or threat? Why are we still playing out from the back, and constantly getting caught out? Why do our substitutions make us normally worse, not better? Why do we get the lead and then drop deeper and deeper, just inviting pressure? Why do we fail to clear the ball constantly with miskicks and headers up in the air? Why does Paul Smyth find it impossible to het the target?
Any points are welcome with the squad we've got! Wish Nardi would stop playing the cute ball from his area.
Definitely. I like Nardi but you could see he was going to give the ball away which he eventually did to Sainz.
We must keep Dunne. So versatile and always gives 💯% goals, heart, and time to progress and become a future captain
Hopefully we’ve been sorting a contract in the background…
Thanks for the great content and all the best for 2025, i live in Australia now so difficult to get honest evaluation of the hoops performance, keep up the great work. Cmon u RRsss
Thanks for the support, Dennis!
Great job in '24 Conor and congrats on delivering plenty of Hopopsa spot on commentary. Heres to continuing our decent performances on the pitch and maybe a push higher in twenty five. Come on you Rrrrrrr'ssss.
Thanks for your support!
Firstly congratulations on your subscriber milestone - well deserved. 👍 Thought it was a strangely open game compared to the total suffocation the robins inflicted by contrast. Stupid square balls in front of Norwich players very very silly. In truth we were lucky to get a point
Thanks mate 👊 I agree, it was way more open than the stats suggested.
So proud of you and all your hard work this year ❤
Thank you 🥰
Great analysis as always. I understand the 2 points dropped thing but I think when you look back on it if we'd been Norwich we possibly would have felt robbed if we lost that one. I think taking 4 points in a month off a fairly decent team in this division isn't a bad return, especially given the amount of injuries we have had to contend with. I agree, we need more in the window, as our current squad seems to have muscles and hamstrings bought off Temu! I think we'll beat Watford. I don't know why and I don't have scientific evidence to back it up, but I just have a feeling we'll turn them over. Meanwhile, thanks for putting together what is a really good and continually evolving channel for us fans. I promote you over on LoftForWords so keep it all up. Here's to 2025 and the legendary fight between us and Stoke to secure the fabled end of season 16th position! 🤔
Yeah that’s fair mate, it’s just strange because in the stadium it really didn’t feel like we’d been battered at full time (save for the last 25 minutes 😅) Thanks for your continued support - and really appreciate you shouting me out on LFW!
I really look forward to your summaries Conor - even when we've been rubbish! Excellent consistent work from you (if not all of our players). Happy New Year! & C'mon you Rs
That’s really kind of you, thanks very much mate!
Over 2,700 subscribers is very well deserved, mate. Congratulations. Like yourself, I was happy with the improved performance, but felt it was 2 points dropped, rather than 1 point gained. I think we'll continue our winning run at Loftus Rd, so I'm going for a 2-1 win to the Rangers! Happy new year to you, and come on you Rrrrrrsssss⚽️
Thank you mate, Happy New Year!
Great effort this year mate i know only too well how hard it ti to put out content twice a weeK!.
Thank you mate, appreciate your support!
For me good first half and best press for some time, unfortunately just ran out of puff in second half, two big home games coming U Rsssss
Congratulations on your 2000 subscribers. Quite the statistician. Well done - you deserve it - some splendid summations of our prestigious team!
Thank you Ian!
Any transfer rumours? We seriously need some additions.
Not seen a lot, CB from the Italian league was doing the rounds last week.
Good to meet you before the game yesterday hoopsa good review again wish we didn't play out from the back so much nearly cost us but would have settled for a draw before the game. Onwards and upwards going for a 2-0 win at home happy new year 🎉
Great to meet you mate, thanks for saying hello!
Much better, but the last 20 minutes messing around at the back cost us!! There goal verane has to clear the ball up the line instead he allows them a throw and turns he's back on play!!! Criminal! The only way they were going to score was with our help, very solid until we decided to think we were city!!
Varane much improved lately but this was a terrible sub appearance from him!
1.1 draw
Nice summary as per usual...cheers!! Happy New Year!!!
And you mate!
I thought we’d be hammered to be fair, which could have happened had Norwich only taken their many chances. Post-match: performance greatly improved, shame about the last minute equaliser, again Norwich failed to win it in the 7 minutes injury time. Did you see a very angry Jimmy Dunne be held back by Sam Field directly after the game? I wonder what that was all about …?
thought about going tbh, but its such an awkward slow journey and takes literally 4-5 hours because of the roads from london, we are playing again at home on the 1st jan so not long to wait anyway, id be shocked if we won aswell with no cookie or morrison.....come on you rrsss hoping for a draw at least, btw i think we need 3 players!! a left back/centre back/and definately a striker, for me paal aint all that and needs replacing big time, id rather see ashby there atm as cover
Love your shirt⚽
Better for an away strip than the funeral black or wee/poo brown 🥴.At least it's got HOOPS.⚽
We don't have any real 'form' at Carrow Road and haven't during my lifetime, so the omens are not good. Given that Paal was actually ill in the last game so probably out here and Morgan, as you say needs a rest, I would go 4-4-2 here. 2 up front would at least make Norwich not swamp us going forward and give them something to think about. I'd go Ashby Dunne JCS Field at the back for the left/right balance. Smyth Varane Madsen Chair across the middle with Kolli and Frey up front. I don't think Marti will do this but he certainly can't rely on a low block with the defensive choices he has so I hope he gambles a bit, even if it backfires. We should lose this comfortably because everything stacks up for a loss but it is QPR and we are capable of doing weird things. I'd be delighted with a draw but if nothing else we need to attack and push them back when we can.
I’ll be optimistic for a draw here
Live in Norfolk and yet again looking for the bragging rights will be there tomorrow so going for a 2-0 to the R,s was delivering to there training ground on Friday and didn't look like they were doing to much win in bound 💙🤍💙🤍
Have a bad feeling about this one.
We have to take care of the youngsters. Morgan still is excellent and noone will blame him for a poor performance.
Totally agree.
Gawd. I remember going to Norwich away in the mid 90s. It took us over five hours to get there and arrived ten minutes late. By that time, we were already 2-0 down. When we finally found our seats, Norwich scored again. Me and my mate looked at each other, got up and left. What a waste of time that was. God knows what the final score was. Maybe someone in the comments knows.
probably 4-2, that happened 2 or 3 times in the late 90's.
Hi Conor.Yeah, bad day at the office against Swansea. I've read that Qpr are in talks with Marco Imperiale, from Seria B club Carraranse . He is a well-regarded defender in Italy. We need help across the back.
The fullback situation is pretty dire at the moment given the absences of Cook and Morrison and the fully subpar play of Paal. The answer (until we recruit one of two backs in the January window): play Field and JCS as CBs, Ashby on the left, and Jimmy D on the right. Bench Paal who's showing, every way he can, that he has no interest in putting himself fully into a game. Would also rest Saito (start a fully deserving Lloyd), start Ilias (he's ready) and consider both Kolli and Frey up top (Madsen, like Paal, shows an abject resistance to playing hard -- like how many tall guys like that routinely refuse to jump for any head ball?).
This is exactly the type of fixture where the Rangers produce the unexpected. I'm going for the opposite of what yourself, and the Norwhich lad, predicted. 1-2 to the Rs. And believe you, me, I will be keeping both fingers crossed, as well as my toes, and God help me, my eyes as well, for that to happen! Now, where's nurse with my meds, I wonder? 😆
Getting beaten badly by Norwich would be a real Canary in the coalmine moment if we don't make some big Jan transfers
Norwich will thrash us.
Same performance at Bristol and got away with it!! Sitting back and trying to defend for 90 minutes a ucking joke!! So short up top but saying to any side have the ball and see if you can break us down is for the birds! Another bad run incoming!! It's the rangers way
It's such a strange way to set us up, if we go for it and lose so be it, if we sit back and invite pressure the outcome will always be the same...
The tactics away from home are terrible we give teams so much respect at least have a go shocking we got away with it at Bristol city these teams are not world🤔🤔🤔🤔 class
Top analysis mate. That could well be "the moment" of the season. JD turning into a young Macca 😂. We'll have to see how the Cooky injury pans out though
Great review mate. It's games like this that keep you up. We are building an identity, which is what this season is going to be about. Not quite "Paul Smyth from the halfway line" but I'll take it 😅
Beautiful analysis mate. Love it. Oxford are, undoubtedly, the worst side I've seen us play ths season, but you've got to put them to the sword, right? Despite the extra time I still managed to get my late train home. Come on!😂
Spot on review, sir. What a performance, culminating with JD saluting the Loft at the end of the game. You could tell how well we played when opposition players like Sainz and McLean were remonstrating all game in absolute frustration as they couldn't get a lick on us. The young msn up front? We'll see, eh?
Our squad size and quality is the reason we have performance,s like this,10 yrs of mismanagement is not going to be turned around in 5 minutes. These results will continue to happen until we build a squad fit to compete in this division.
Tbh we got what we deserved Jimmy should of gone to cb and Ashby in at rb with JCS or fox other side of jimmy Midfield were way of the pace olli got no service. Time for chair to step into the fold imo and Kolli gets a bit of help. why the FA send us to south Wales on Boxing Day sums them up, I know they came here and Adel gave them a lesson but get real FA Cardiff up the road keep it local yep these are pro sportsman but still have family Can't see us being any better in Norfolk maybe a larger thumping need reinforcements and offload a few
Loss of Cook and Morrison cannot be underestimated…..fear for us against Norwich…
I'm still in shock at that 1st half lack of performance.😳 I will be praying earnestly that both Cook and Morrison are back to full fitness as quickly as possible, and that Rangers have as good a January window this year, they had last year. 🙏🏻 As ever, a good summmary, mate! 👍🏻
I agree with everyone...Cook is a massive loss for us.
