we need a home win ASAP. and we need celar to start scoring. cookie and jcs were outstanding but as much as its a great point, its only a great point if we follow it up with a win. nice to see the fight and passion tho. lets push on from this

Hi Hoopsa. Great report and a great point for the Rs. I'm going to call it, Qpr will beat Sunderland next Saturday, first home win. Why? Because the players know they haven't been up to it so far this season. They're going to say Sunderland is the big one. We awe it to the fans, so let's get elusive home win.

great content & analysis as usual mr hoopsa!! the Celar issue is puzzling, over the past 3 seasons his track record is:
    23/24- 21 goals, 3 Assists
    22/23- 16 goals, 2 Assists
    21/22- 10 goals, 2 Assists
…the 3 seasons show he was able to grow into the team, getting better over time. Most teams would sign this striker given those statistics, you’d have thought.
The argument that the gulf between championship & swiss super league is too great: not sure I buy that *yet*, last season he scored against top teams in that league: St Gallen, FC Basel, Grasshoppers & Young Boys (who won the league), & Bodo Glimt in the Euro League.
Those Swiss teams feature fairly regularly in the top euro competitions.
It must be down to something not being understood, or too much a change of culture, every game I’ve seen him, I want him to do well, but he looks lost on the field :-/
when he came off, there was no handshakes etc with Martí (unlike the other players). does seem to be a clash of expectations on both sides, I hope it can be resolved quickly; surely he doesn’t become a rubbish striker overnight??

Cook and JCS were really good. To play Celar is like playing with 10 men. He is the next best thing to Useless. Great post Hoopsa keep up the good work.

This was a defining moment on which we can build on and feel positive about. We desperately need an attacking player like Charlie Austin to link up with players like Chair and Field. As it stands we appear to have less attacking potential compared to last season .

We may need to grind a lot more of these types of performances out to make our way gradually out of trouble. The biggest weird issue is who is this version of Celar? If you look at his 'reel' he has pace and ability but you start to think perhaps that really was at a level or so below the Championship. He barely looks like he knows what's going on or what to do. You kind of feel like we need to employ Charlie Austin as a striker coach to actually teach him how to play at this level. Or just f*ck it and get Charlie back (he'd still be better)! The very obvious don't sign an extension and don't play policy we have with Kolli is possibly coming home to haunt us, even though I don't think he's yet the answer. Freezing him out may feel like a watch and learn policy for other young players but when you have to field 2 keepers on the bench because you don't have an attacker due to him not signing a new contract then you start to wonder if that policy is so sensible. Going back to Celar, you either have to make him play in the dev team to get his fitness up and let him score a few goals or just adjust the books and make him the best paid person on the catering team. One thing is for sure, Kevin Gallen's annual where are our strikers call is becoming crushingly obvious. If we were to get Charlie in as a dedicated strikers coach I could see Lloyd and a few others actually pushing through.

    • @HoopsaYouTube
      @HoopsaYouTube  29 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

I’m starting to think with Celar it just shows the massive gulf in quality between the Swiss and English leagues. Even if you look at it nationally, Jan Mlakar started for Slovenia against England in the EUROs, another player who was invisible for QPR during his six appearances… Can you coach “it” out of a striker, or do you need to have it in the first place? When Frey arrived in January, I could see a striker’s instinct in there despite his lack of fitness.

A good point of course. I’m afraid anyone can see that Celar is just not up to the demands of the Championship. Didn’t miss Dembele at all and he needs to fight for his place! Cook and JCS were immense. Sunderland will tear us to shreds 🤔🤷.

I will not say varane was anything near our best player. But I think he had his personal best match in a hooped shirt.
I want to dislike Celar, but Frey had problems ajusting 23/24. Celars goals in other clubs were solid service and a good shot at goal especially against offside traps. He did make an attempt at that sadly blown, for offside since he was offside. Since our strategy is run at the sides and lob it into the corridor of uncertainty, sure he is not gonna get many goals without good service. But we seldom play in the middle outside the penalty area were a tricked pass to celar could be sent. If anyone runs to that area they usually take a shot or send it back to the wingers.

Granted he wasn’t going to get many of those against a team like Burnley, and he’s still not had many starts, but I just want to see him impose himself for once.
