Wow! I am flabbergasted! The title of this does not do justice to just how informative and valuable this video is. I've never thought about starting a channel before, mainly because I am now older than I once was, lol - but after watching this super persuasive exploration of why 'you should', I am now truly! considering doing so. Seriously great video Craig. I am a little in shock at what you presented - far far more than just your monthly income from being a hobby you tuber. Thanks!

I'm glad you found it motivational. I'll take your comment to heart and try changing the title to something more informative. Thanks.

@@CraigBabin Well, this is awkward! haha...I didn't mean to make you change your title. I was just trying to point out to anybody wondering whether to watch the video, that it was absolutely worth their time...In truth, I think the last title was more eye catching than this one for anyone who has never started a channel. It piqued my curiosity, and I watched just to see what you had made and what you had to say (although I have been a subscriber for a while). As a result, I am now going through your videos on how to start a channel. I don't think I would have bothered to look at it with your new title (on maximising your you tube income), because, to me, that title assumes a viewer is already 'there' with their decision, whereas your last title was more about implied encouragement, and the 'possibility' that you tube gives. Its that 'possibility' that was the attraction. Thanks again for the great video.

@@mortpen2850 Haha ... Don't worry, I change my titles all of the time. The view count on this video was really starting to drop off so I changed it up to see if I could boost the views a bit. If it doesn't pick up, I'll change it back. But I appreciate the feedback. Sometimes seeing something from another persons perspective allows me to pick up on things that I may have missed.

Hi Craig. I'm here because of the Wacom newsletter. And after watching a couple of videos, I'm hooked. Thanks for your generosity sharing your hard-earned knowledge. I'm a fellow Canadian, from Alberta, I've been a nationally syndicated editorial cartoonist for more than two decades, but it's no secret why that business model is failing. And I'm sick of following divisive politics for a living. I've also been digitally painting whimsical wildlife art for more than a decade, selling my own prints, licensing the art on several products and that part of my business grows more each year. But at 53, I'm looking to more stability in my senior years, too. And though I've done process videos before with narration, (for Wacom, even), I've let my channel slide and stagnate. Looking to learn how to better diversify, sell digital downloads, clipart, brushes, process videos, etc. But I've felt lost, paralyzed by perfectionism and fear. Looks like there are several hours available on your fantastic channel to help get me back on track and pivot to a new phase of my career, one without politics and newspapers. THANK YOU. I'm excited to learn from you.

Wow, I feel under qualified to teach you anything with your background. But I get where you're coming from. Just the TH-cam aspect of this little venture consistently brings in anywhere from $800 to $1200 per month (that includes affiliate commissions). And I only upload a video about every 4 to 6 weeks. Once you have enough back content in place, it doesn't take much to upkeep the channel. And the cool thing is, if I every decide to upload more often, my income would increase immensely . When I was uploading every two weeks, my typical month was around $1800 to $2200.
Pam from Wacom passed your letter on to me, I'm glad you're finding my videos useful. Best of luck to you Patrick.

@@CraigBabin You're definitely not under qualified. Always happy to learn from people who know a lot more than me, and when it comes to this platform and style of promotion, you certainly do. Pam is great, she has helped me a lot in my career. Cheers!

Again thank you!! I've watched so many videos on how to get started on TH-cam but you've really explained a lot of things that most won't get into. So thank you for your transparency and honesty❤

this is great Craig. I only started my TH-cam channel around 6-7 months ago so am a little behind you, but am seeing a promising start. I don't currently have any affiliate links so I'll add a creative fabrica one to my channel as well. What's the best way that you've seen success with this? Just as a description in videos, or have you been pushing it in videos?

    • @CraigBabin

You definitely want to promote it in videos. The best way is to just use the service as part of a tutorial video if you can, to show your viewers why it's worth the subscription price.
Best of luck with your channel.

You are so right about wanting to learn from someone similar to yourself! Your explanations are very clear and linear - the way I can understand things. I've watched many pro YT creators, and they make things so complex for a beginner. Very interesting to see the adsense vs affiliate income. Congrats on your anniversary!
