I like this video… this is identical to the issues I am trying to resolve on my 2000. I just need to find a good frame . Can’t wait to see more good details in the next video to finish it up. Great job
The 2wd frame is different from the 4wd frame from the crossmember I pointed out forward. 2wd uses coil spring front suspension, 4 wheel drive uses torsion bars, which has an additional crossmember, different shock mounts, and different engine mounts, different engine crossmember, different lower control arms, and more. It would have been wayyyyyyy more labor intensive and required a LOT more cutting and welding. I chose to to do it the way that would require the fewest cuts and welds and thus create the fewest possible failure points, I'm confident in my abilities but I am human and I do make mistakes, by doing it the way I did, I feel like I made the best repair possible with what I had and created the fewest possible opportunities for a mistake.
I wish I could afford one of your trucks, you always do great work. Btw, where do you get your engine cradles? I can't find decent ones under 100 bucks.
yeah i think i have 1 or 2 good ones floating around here that I'd like to get off my shelf, I also have cores I;d like to get out of here. Shoot me a message in instagram and we can figure out a deal.
There are a lot of factors, could be 5k, could be 50k, depends on who's finding the starting truck, what all you want done to it, etc. if you're serious email me, mohawkmotors21@gmail.com
How much would you charge me to take my truck down to frame and rebuilding it for me? 2003 Silverado Regular Cab 2 door LS. I really like your content and how you do things.
To give you an accurate estimate we would have to talk and really iron out the details. If you wanted me to go to the level I did on my silver 2005 that I just got on the road would be $10k+ in labor, plus whatever parts. I know it doesn't translate in the videos, but I've got over 100 hours in that truck and it's still not finished.

Thank you! Good luck finding a clean frame for yours!
Makes perfect sense with your skills. Will make a nice ride for someone.
Thank you!
👍
Thanks brother!
Just out of curiosity why not just graft the front part of the frame? Cut the bent part out and weld in the rails from the rusty frame?
