Guide to Higurashi's Release History: How and Where to Start!
Good video but I'm 99% sure the EP 3 explanation is a bit wrong. The manga as well as the character's death profiles in the VN strongly suggest Sayo bribed Eva into killing and staking people. It's stated in the EP 7 Tea Party that 13 murders would be committed if the epitaph isn't solved BEFORE MIDNIGHT, implying Eva's victory didn't stop the murders simply because she was too late. I think that's where the confusion lies. The letter in EP 3 says the epitaph being solved would stop the murder, but that was likely just a lie to lure out the winner to be made into an accomplice. In other words, Sayo played Eva like a fiddle. Once the murders start, Sayo will only stop for Battler.
What raised my suspicion so much ,was how they never Investigate properly and that the investigation is only done by battler or someone that is with yasu ,so i'm Really glad that my guess work was on point the whole time lol
this is a good summary of the doujin videogame industry in japan, i would probably also include things like princess maker by gainax which i believe introduced the whole raising simulator genre which then led to tokimemos gameplay loop.
didn't watch a second, little bombs.
Higurashi is my favorite story of all time. I first watched the anime in 2016, later played through the visual novel when it was added to Steam with the 07th mods. If you are new to Visual Novels, you should go in expecting an experience more akin of watching a movie or reading a book instead of playing a game. If you have any questions, I'd be happy to answer. I'm all for new people finding out about this gem of a story.
Nagito the best antagonist in the Danganronpa games
I love the unfolding of the mysteries but I always get stuck on one specific scenario; In the third game, the chain of closed rooms explanation always has one hole for me. Kanon is found last in the chapel, which is a room that only has one key and cannot be locked or unlocked with a master key, see reds from the second game. The chapels key is in the envelope with Kinzos corpse. How can Yasu move from the parlor room to the chapel to play dead there if the only key is already with Kinzos corpse? It would not be a closed room. Anyone know if this is truly a hole or is there a way around this?
He is so smart 🎉🎉🎉
I wasn't a huge fan of the game, and honestly the answers leave me happy I dropped it in arc 7. It's cool it tried really hard to engage with the reader, but the obsession with the pseudo personalities of the "above the chess board" killed me. I just wanted to figure out what happened, and it's hard for me to really believe the excuses given. Like, the willingness for the family to massacre everyone and trust some psycho chick who went between guy and girl? The idea that Jessica and George wouldn't at some point mention or realize kanon and shanon are the same person? Being schizoid isn't a superpower that makes you a puppet master. Whatever though, I'm just not the audience, and the premise for the end of the story wasn't that the justifications were realistic. Just that, arguably, they could have happened. And one can argue, with the knowledge of what happened, that these outcomes were possible.
1. They are murder plans with the best case scenario the culprit even said that it’s very likely that the scenarios they’ve written would have failed anyway(they never got the chance to carry them out) Also another thing, the culprit isn’t a schizoid all the fantasy scenes are just embellishments from unreliable narration. They don’t have DID either they are just playing dress up.
Also the reason why no one realized they are the same human is because they work on separate shifts won’t the exception of the Family Conference
The only one I’m really bothered by is Jessica. Ik Kanon often avoids her but still she hangs with Shannon a lot. Natsuhi and Krauss not noticing doesn’t bother me because they don’t really care enough to pay attention to the servants.
no matter how you look at it, the greatness of chapter 5 starts the second we get to be nagito in the investigation of chapter 4, where we hear and understand his thought process and level of inteligence, his carefree aditude, and brilliance wit. there we get to understand how fast he realises things that aren't easy to understand and there we get to see how he deals with everyone around him internaly, we learn that he truly value himself as a sacrificial pawn for the greater goal (aka hope). the second we go back to hajime, we see a masive turn in his behaviour towards everyone, which is a key clue to understand the revelations of chapter 6 and why nagito did what he did in chapter 5. chapters 0,4,5 and 6 are all 1 arc of it's own, and it starts exactly at the second we get to be nagito for a moment. thanks for the video, i love hearing praises about nagito <3 he is one of my all time favourite characters.
If it's weren't for the plot twist this could have been an easy 10/10. If this VN were to ever get an anime that plot twist should be removed.

Woo! I’m the 5.6 thousandth like! Anyways, I found this video really informative as a beginner to the fandom. I love this series a lot so far.
Excuse me... this Trial has the most painfully obvious flaw someone would notice if you just stop and think for a moment Gundham sets up his trap, Nekomaru accidentally kills himself because of said trap, Gundham gets executed. Nagito sets up his trap, Chiaki accidentally kills him because of said trap, Chiaki somehow gets executed.
oh, man. If only Netflix could give budget to these adaptation like Arcane, this would be a masterpiece too.
Haven't started with these. Can't either relate nor I can empathize with any of the characters. The Japs have a tendency of being duped by weird cults from Happy Science to Aum Shinrikiyo
When you for real think about all that happened on island from the human perspective, it´s a real tragedy :( I feel really sorry for everyone (except Rudolf and Kyrie, because f them) because outside of Rokkenjima and far away from their relatives they were shown as genuinely good people/couples - Eva and Hideyoshi, Natsuhi and Krauss - with the exception of Rosa as a victim of Kinzo´s and his wifes parenting, which is also tragedy in its own way. And then the island really brought the worst of them. Sometimes I also wonder, what could been if Eva didn´t force her husband to take the family last name, and instead just took HIS last name, breaking all ties with the Kinzo's craziness and her siblings, never returning to the island again. This way her family would survive and take good care of Ange. Oh, well... :(
There’s a reason this Visual Novel is labeled as 30+ instead of 18+ in Japanese community.
3:38 WELCOME TO THE NHK MENTIONEEEEEED🗣🗣🗣🔥🔥🔥PURURUPURIRIRRIIIN PURURUUURUUU
Are you sure?
An excellent set of explanations, but you have yet to explain the most vile unsolved murder of all. Who killed Maria's rose!?
Finally... I can watch this, after spending about 800 hours with this amazing masterpiece
4:32 Im glad you referred to the Miazora Fine days one, Schrodinger's pun Hinami uses is so her I love ot
My brother and I actually had a discussion about this trial because of how remarkable and iconic it is, and really, Hajime's belief in Nagito was exactly what allowed Hajime and his fellow survivors to survive. Loved the video, you really explained Nagito well.
I've seem the anime, it's pretty good
He says this is the official answer, but all it seems like to me is more questions. My belief is that he wanted the visual novel to be open to interpretation and allow the readers to pursue their own truth, but after all the backlash he received for how cryptic and unclear he was, he decided to try and make it more clear in the manga version. However, due to how emotionally attached people became to the story of the official solution, perhaps even including the author himself, he didn't think it was worth the risk to try and deviate from that solution for the sake of logical consistency. So as flawed as it was, the official solution essentially became a gold truth. I don't personally subscribe to this explanation for both technical and emotional reasons, but Umineko is all fiction at the end of the day, including the red text. Don't feel like you have to justify your interpretations to anyone.
Manga logic:you can have different personas wothout plastic surgery to look like said personas. I still dont understand lmao
King Path
I remember reading Kindaichi the most growing up. Although I read other shounen series like Dragon Ball, Dragon Quest or Sailor Moon (shoujo), not many of my friends read Kindaichi. It was so underrated but I always found myself gravitated more towards Kindaichi. I’m 38 years old now and I still make it a habit of re-reading the series once a year.
Claudia Trail
Excellent analysis on my favourite character in the series!
The culprit cannot be a servant by Van Dine's 11th. That was the opening line of Willard's introduction to the story. Our confession and every mention of Yasuda are misleading red herrings implicating 2 servants presented as one.
Umineko only uses Knox Decalogue. It doesn’t use Van Dine
@@yothats.taetae5382 It doesn’t use *all* of Van Dine, but the rules that Will says in red would probably have some bearing on the story.
Strictly speaking Sayo is not a servant. A servant has someone they serve -- a master. Since Kinzo is dead, and no one else (besides her of course) succeeded him, Sayo is not a servant.
@alternateperson6600 Confirming definition. If that’s how you define a servant, then wouldn’t that mean that there are actually no servants on the island? Because as soon as Beatrice recieved the headship, she gave it up, saying that she wasn’t prepared to take the role, and that Krauss would succeed Kinzo. "P-please wait..! I appreciate the sentiment, ...but I can't do the job of being the successor, .....and I can't accept such a big responsibility. I think it would be better for Krauss-sama to inherit that role...” So either Krauss is the secret new head, or there is no head and no servants, which would make the “It is forbidden for a servant to be the culprit” red truth completely pointless. You could also make the claim that Shannon is a servant and Sayo isn’t, but I refuse to believe that Sayo and Shannon are literally counted as two different people and not just two different names for the same person as the tips menu says. This isn’t fucking Severance. And even if you accept that, you still run into fatal problems, because I have yet to see an elegant way for Sayo to be the culprit without her being the 18th person X. And why isn’t Yoshiya the 19th person X? How is Sayo somehow more real than Yoshiya is?
@@pixelperfect1729 >wouldn’t that mean that there are actually no servants on the island No, because Sayo is the new head. >saying that she wasn’t prepared to take the role Irrelevant. She is still in possession of Kinzo's ring, owns all the gold and liquid assets, and orders the servants around. Besides, aren't you the one who said 'Kinzo' is a title designating the head, and that Rosa had inherited it? If you think Sayo being the head is inconsistent with Beatrice's refusal to openly accept the role, you run into issues as well. >I have yet to see an elegant way for Sayo to be the culprit without her being the 18th person X The novel sometimes counts people who aren't on the island, Kinzo in EP3 being an example. Either real people are counted separately from personalities or personalities are meta entities who don't inhabit/exist on the island to begin with.
Please PLEASE play the game siren’s call. The beta is free on steam. It feels like what omori should have been
I haven't finish ep 8 yet, but i've always been confused by Sayo's identity. Throughout the playthrough, ive wondered if the killer takes the identity of any/every woman on the island and their perspective is told through them. I was so sure that Maria was the killer suffering with the dissociative disorder, then i wondered if it was Natsuhi, or Eva, or Rosa, and maybe Jessica. Whichever lady/perspective that existed would have their skewed perception shown to us. With Natsuhi, I believed maybe a little girl was raised and groomed to marry Kinzo's son, Kraus, an emotional and incompetent man with disregard towards his own incompetence. I also believed at the same time, this little girl was also going to school with Jessica as a little sister or maybe big brother (Lion confused me there); and that Jessica had a mean girl persona that bullied this dissociative girl/boy relentlessly. Kanon being a toy to tease and laugh at, I bet Jessica didn't take him/them seriously and toyed with their sibling/boyfriend/mother, or whatever role this person was supposed to be. With Eva, I assumed the dissociative child was being groomed into a relationship with multiple men and was shared between Hideyoshi, George, and maybe Rudolf and Kyrie as well. Eva could have been a new mother identity to cope with her loving relationship with the two men, with Natsuhi's persona created to satisfy Kinzo and Kraus' family status. With Kyrie, I assumed that the dissociative person was actually Kyrie's child, Ange. Unfortunately, I'm unsure of their identity as im still on ep8, but i thought that maybe the gender of Kyrie's daughter could be ambiguous; i had believed there was some domestic violence and genital mutilation involved, confusing gender identity of whoever it is these people are supposed to be. Kyrie has connections to multiple people, because her white hair confuses me with Kinzo, and that one sister in the future arc ep. Overall, I'm unsure. With Rosa, the dissociative child was once given a child and was responsible for its death by going near a cliff. Idk if that dead child is a future character, the dissociative character, or just dead. I don't know if the maid that died was actually a servant, Natsuhi, dead, or the dissociative child. And Idk if Maria is the dead child; a childhood friend of Beatrice who also fell of a cliff at a separate time; another person with dissociative tendencies; or an innocent child. It is difficult to pinpoint if many of these issues are figments of their imagination, belonging to one physical vessel. I think there is one dissociative person, but im unsure of the Beatrice family tree (is the mother, mother's daughter, mother's daughter's kin true?). But it's interesting to think about. It's crazy to think about the many bad things that happened to Sayo. I dunno, ill look into it some more.
i really like your content. I ultimately dropped this because I thought the proportion between slice of life and romance outweighed the mistery and mental battle I wanted to see (Iwanted somethinbg like VLR, death note, umineko) . Do you recommend anything?
Why do you need a half hour video to say a witch did it with magic?
ZA WARUDO!
Yay, you're back! Please do a review on Sayonara Wo Oshiete.
19:46 I feel vindicated, it always bothered me that the characters never think about the door locking from the inside. The mansion isn't old, it's from the 50s, and doors in the 50s had that damned feature.
I mean, that part is just referring to the fact that it was locked from the inside using the key. Which is obvious as the killer then simply committed suicide to stage the closed room. The door was NOT self locking.
The problem with all these Death Note inspired titles and ripoffs alike is that the writers don't understand how intelligent people think and seem to think they're wizards.
found you with your kindaichi video
Was considering it until the Munou na Nana writer thing, the conclusions of the strategy battles are always laughably horrible
Where can this be watched? Cant find it anywhere!
G Senjou no Maou is one I've heard about even from when I started getting into VNs over a decade ago. And I just remember it being a bit mixed for reception, so I just have had it in my backlog for a million years.
Tbh G-Senjou lost me with it's complete ass pull of a "plot twist". Nice to see you back though, you've been missed
ENDING SPOILERS CLEARLY ... Are you referring to the game's ending where it's suddenly revealed that Maou's identity is completely different from everything that was alluded up to that point? Because I certainly enjoyed the game up to that point, but the ending left me with a bad taste and a feeling of disappointment that it could have been so much better if only the author had committed to the fact that there was no way the protagonist was going to get a good ending without the "ass pull of a plot twist" that essentially retconned giant clues pertaining to Maou's identity.
Hey! Nice video. It's a classic VN for sure. I thought G-Senjou was a step up from Sharin. As you say it's a very compelling mystery, and the music is beautiful. I agree that the romance aspects are something of a sideshow, and you're right about the finale, it's action packed and brilliant. I didn't like the epilogue, but then again, I am not at all a fan of large timeskip epilogues and this is another example of that in a VN unfortunately. Please continue making these VN introduction videos! Thanks.
